Ministry Of Information & Broadcasting Allows 100% Occupancy In Theaters

The Ministry Of Information & Broadcasting, on Saturday (January 30), has allowed cinemas/theaters to operate with full occupancy. With coronavirus is slowly weakening and vaccination has also started, the I&B Ministry said that cinema halls and theatres will be permitted to operate with 100% seating capacity, for which the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting has issued a revised SOP.

However, States and Union Territories will have a final decision to consider proposing the additional measures as per their field assessment.

Earlier, cinemas were operating with just 50% seating capacity which was effective since cinemas being allowed to reopen in October 2020. Recently, the Tamil Nadu government had allowed 100% occupancy in theaters, however, after the center's objection, the state government had withdrawn its order.

The latest development is surely a welcome move by the government. Due to 50% occupancy, the filmmakers of the big-budgeted movies were hesitating to release their films in theaters. Post lockdown lifted, Thalapthy Vijay's Tamil movie, Master was the first major movie to release in cinemas. And despite, many odds against it, the movie has done remarkably well to bring the audiences back to cinemas. It proved to be a big blockbuster and is near INR 150 crores mark in India.

Some of the big-budgeted movies such as Sooryavanshi, Bell Bottom, 83, among others have been put on hold until things get normal. The new development might inspire them to get a release and give the theatrical business a much-needed boost.

Stay tuned...

Akskay Kumar's Welcome To The Jungle Paid Previews Goes Bhooth Bangla Way 3.75 Crore Net

BY SACNILK

Mumbai, June 25 - Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar's Welcome To The Jungle has opened to a decent response at the Indian box office, with the film showing trends quite similar to the actor's previous release Bhooth Bangla. Pre-sales pattern of the comedy entertainer is nearly identical to Bhooth Bangla, especially when block seats are excluded, hinting towards a similar opening day performance as well. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) According to estimates, Welcome To The Jungle has scored around 3.75 crore net from its limited paid previews, translating to approximately 4.50 crore gross. Interestingly, these numbers are on par with the paid preview collections of Bhooth Bangla, further strengthening comparisons between the two Akshay Kumar releases. Despite carrying the popular Welcome franchise brand and a massive ensemble cast, the film's initial response has remained steady rather than extraordinary. Trade experts believe that spot bookings and audience word-of-mouth will now decide whether the film can register strong growth over the weekend. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) Directed by Ahmed Khan, Welcome 3 carries decent advances heading into the first full-fledged day. Bhooth Bangla opened to 12.25 crores net (16 crores net with paid previews), and the latest entertainer is also heading to score a similar opening. While the effect of the word of mouth will be known over the weekend, initial response seems to be positive, which is good news. Directed by Ahmed Khan, the third instalment of the iconic franchise features an ensemble lineup including Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty, Paresh Rawal, Jacqueline Fernandez, Disha Patani, Arshad Warsi, Shreyas Talpade and Rajpal Yadav, among others. The film aims to revive the chaos and comic madness associated with the iconic Welcome franchise.

BY SACNILK

Mumbai, June 25 - Director Imtiaz Ali's period romantic drama Main Vaapas Aaunga has crossed the 50 crore mark worldwide, continuing its impressive upward trajectory at the box office after a slow opening week. The film, starring Diljit Dosanjh, Sharvari, Vedang Raina, and Naseeruddin Shah, has emerged as one of the biggest word-of-mouth success stories of the year. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) According to estimates, Main Vaapas Aaunga collected approximately 52 crore globally within 13 days of release. The film's India net collection currently stands at around 32.50 crore (38.65 crore gross), while overseas markets have contributed an estimated 13.25 crores to its growing total. The period love story, set against the backdrop of Partition, witnessed remarkable growth during its second weekend. After earning almost 2 crore net on its second Friday, the film jumped to 4.35 crore on Saturday and 5.75 crore on Sunday, indicating strong audience acceptance and positive word-of-mouth. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) Despite opening to modest numbers, Main Vaapas Aaunga steadily built momentum through glowing audience reactions and strong appreciation for its emotional storytelling, music, and performances. Social media chatter around the film has also played a key role in boosting occupancy, especially in metro circuits like Delhi-NCR. Fans and critics alike have praised the film's emotional depth, with many calling it one of Imtiaz Ali's most heartfelt works in recent years. The film's soundtrack has also received widespread acclaim, with audiences particularly appreciating the music composed by A. R. Rahman.

BY SACNILK

Mumbai, June 25 - In a major announcement, Bollywood star Ajay Devgn has teamed up with Jio Studios and Anand L Rai's Colour Yellow Productions to headline an action thriller film Chauhaan, based in Kashmir. The film will be directed by Neeraj Yadav, who previously wrote films like Tere Ishk Mein and An Action Hero. The first-look title teaser of Chauhaan was unveiled on the birth anniversary of Ajay Devgn's father, legendary action director Veeru Devgan. The teaser is set in Pulwama, Kashmir, in 2018 and depicts a tense conflict scenario involving armed rioters and the Indian Army. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) Ajay Devgn plays the titular role of Chauhaan, a character seemingly tasked with restoring order amid escalating violence in the valley. One of the standout moments in the teaser is his dramatic entry accompanied by the iconic song Jumma Chumma De De. The film marks Ajay Devgn’s return to a full-fledged action avatar, something many fans have been anticipating. The makers have officially scheduled the release for 1 October 2027, coinciding with the Gandhi Jayanti holiday weekend. The rest of the cast and other details are expected to be announced soon. Mirzapur The Movie Teaser: Munna Bhaiya vs Guddu Pandit Returns in Mirzapur's Biggest Battle Yet

BY SACNILK

Mumbai, June 25 - The world of Mirzapur is officially heading to the big screen, and the first teaser for Mirzapur: The Movie has already reignited fan frenzy across social media. What has surprised audiences the most, however, is the dramatic return of Divyenndu's iconic character Munna Bhaiya — despite his apparent death in the web series. The teaser reunites the franchise's most loved faces, including Pankaj Tripathi as Kaleen Bhaiya, Ali Fazal as Guddu Pandit, and Divyenndu as Munna Bhaiya. While the footage keeps the larger plot under wraps, it strongly suggests that the film could explore the untold beginnings of the brutal rivalry that defined the original series. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) For longtime fans of Mirzapur, Munna Bhaiya's comeback is the biggest talking point. The character became one of the most memorable anti-heroes in Indian streaming history thanks to Divyenndu's unpredictable performance and sharp delivery of dialogue. Although Munna was killed in the second season finale, the teaser appears to subvert expectations by positioning the film as either a prequel or an alternate narrative that delves deeper into his rise within Mirzapur's criminal empire. The makers seem to be expanding Mirzapur beyond the streaming format and into a full-fledged cinematic universe. The film promises a larger scale, more stylised action, and heightened drama tailored for theatrical audiences. Ali Fazal's Guddu Pandit is shown in a darker and more intense avatar, hinting at another bloody showdown for control over Mirzapur. Meanwhile, Pankaj Tripathi's Kaleen Bhaiya once again commands the screen with his calm yet menacing presence. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) Social media reactions following the teaser launch have largely centred around nostalgia. Many viewers felt that Mirzapur lost some of its spark after Munna Bhaiya's exit, and his return has instantly renewed excitement around the franchise. The teaser also hints that the film will retain the raw, violent energy that turned Mirzapur into one of India’s most successful streaming franchises. Directed by Gurmeet Singh, Mirzapur: The Movie is set to release in theatres on September 4, 2026. While the makers are yet to reveal detailed plot information, the teaser has successfully built anticipation for what could become one of the biggest franchise transitions from OTT to cinema in India.

Cocktail 2 Box Office: Rom-Com Sequel Tops 100 Crore Worldwide Within First Week

BY SACNILK

Mumbai, June 25 - Maddock and Luv Films' romantic comedy-drama Cocktail 2 has crossed the 100 crore mark at the worldwide box office within its first week, emerging as one of Bollywood's strongest performers of 2026 so far. Starring Shahid Kapoor, Kriti Sanon, and Rashmika Mandanna, the film has maintained good momentum during the weekdays, which was important. As per estimates, the film crossed the 100 crore worldwide milestone by Day 6 of its theatrical run. In India, the sequel to 2012's movie has grossed approximately 79 crore (66.25 crore net) while overseas gross is 24 crore (estimated) so far, for the worldwide total of 103.25+ crores gross. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) Released on June 19, the film opened strongly with around 13.5 crore net in India on Day 1, making it one of Shahid Kapoor's biggest openings after Kabir Singh. The movie also benefited from strong advance bookings and urban multiplex audiences, particularly over its opening weekend. By the end of the opening weekend, Cocktail 2 had already grossed over 76 crore worldwide, signalling audience interest in the romantic entertainer. It was, however, important for the movie to hold well during the weekdays to have the chance to emerge as a box office success, and it did well by keeping the momentum with regular drops. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) But things will now get tough for Cocktail 2 to continue the momentum with the arrival of Akshay Kumar's Welcome To The Jungle on June 26. The comedy entertainer is expected to have one of the widest releases, which will make it tough for Homi Adjania's directed flick to retain more screens. However, Cocktail 2 is still expected to perform well over the second weekend as appreciation is there for the film. Cocktail 2 serves as a spiritual sequel to the 2012 hit Cocktail and marks another collaboration between director Homi Adajania and producer Dinesh Vijan. The original film, starring Saif Ali Khan, Deepika Padukone, and Diana Penty, developed a cult following over the years.

Welcome To The Jungle Box Office Prediction: Will The Comedy Entertainer Extend Akshay Kumar's Success Streak?

BY SACNILK

Mumbai, June 24 - Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar returns to the iconic Welcome franchise with Welcome To The Jungle after headlining the original film back in 2007. Carrying the legacy of the popular comedy franchise, the film has already created good buzz among audiences thanks to its ensemble cast, large-scale production, and nostalgic appeal. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) Directed by Ahmed Khan, the film brings together a massive lineup featuring Suniel Shetty, Paresh Rawal, Arshad Warsi, Jackie Shroff, Rajpal Yadav, Jacqueline Fernandez, Disha Patani, and several other familiar faces. The combination of comedy veterans and franchise value has become one of the biggest talking points surrounding the film ahead of its release. For Akshay Kumar, Welcome To The Jungle marks another film in his most successful space — commercial comedy entertainers. Over the years, the actor has delivered several successful comedy films, and fans are excited to see him revisit the genre that established him as one of Bollywood's most bankable stars. The trailer and promotional content have further increased audience curiosity, especially among family viewers. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) While the excitement in the trade is palpable, the advance booking suggests a decent start, rather than a big opening. The trade is projecting the film to take the opening of 20+ crores net, but the initial response in the pre-sales doesn't give the impression of being a front-loaded opener. Instead, the movie is looking to open in the 15 crore net range. There are paid previews, so things can change pretty quickly if the reception is positive, just like it happened with Akshay Kumar's last film, Bhooth Bangal. The Priyadarshan's directoial scored 3.75 crores net in previews and 12.25 crore net on its pure opening day. Welcome 3 is heading towards a similar opening, since the genre has a mass appeal, which often reflects in strong spot bookings. The big advantage for the movie is that the franchise has strong value, plus the star cast is also huge. So, if the word of mouth is positive, even a 20 crore opening can't be ruled out, but it will still need decent pre-sales to achieve the target. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) While the nostalgia factor is working in its favour, viewers will expect the film to recreate the charm of the earlier instalments, particularly the first film, which went on to become a cult classic due to its fresh humour and the iconic cast. If the content connects with audiences, Welcome To The Jungle could emerge as one of Akshay Kumar's biggest comedy successes in recent years and continue his success streak.

Salman Khan In Talks To Play Karna In Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra's Next

BY SACNILK

Mumbai, June 24 - In a major development, director Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra has reportedly approached superstar Salman Khan to headline his long-awaited epic Karna. Excel Entertainment is backing the ambitious two-part film, once again making it one of the industry's most talked-about projects. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) According to industry buzz, Salman Khan has responded positively to the narration, with discussions between the actor and the makers now progressing toward an advanced stage. While no formal agreement has been signed yet, reports suggest that the collaboration is being seriously explored behind the scenes. However, the project is still in the negotiation phase, with no official commitment having been made so far. As is often the case with large-scale productions of this magnitude, the film could still change before reaching the floors. If the deal materialises, Karna is expected to begin production in mid-2027. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) The film is envisioned as a grand cinematic retelling of the legendary Mahabharata warrior Karna, a character known for his courage, loyalty, and tragic destiny. The project has been in development for several years and was previously linked with other leading actors, including Tamil star Suriya, before facing delays. Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra has long expressed his ambition to bring Karna's story to the big screen on an epic scale, with reports suggesting that the screenplay and music work are already in progress. For Salman Khan, the film could mark a significant shift into the epic space, offering audiences a chance to see the superstar in one of Indian mythology’s most layered and emotionally powerful roles.

Will Alia Bhatt, Sharvari's Alpha Manage To Overcome Trade Projections To Take A Double Digit Opening At The Indian Box Office?

BY SACNILK

Mumbai, June 23 - Ever since Alia Bhatt, Sharvari Wagh, and Bobby Deol's Alpha was announced, the film has remained one of the most talked-about upcoming Bollywood releases. Whether the conversation has been positive or negative, the film has consistently remained in the spotlight due to its cast, promotional material, and association with the Yash Raj Films Spy Universe. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) From teaser drops to trailer discussions, Alpha has managed to generate strong visibility across social media platforms. Ever since the project was announced, a section of the audience has continuously criticised the film, largely because of some of the talent involved rather than the actual content itself. With the release inching closer, the biggest question remains — can Alpha surprise the trade and take a double-digit opening at the Indian box office? The YRF Spy Universe has already established its own successful formula over the years with films like Ek Tha Tiger, Tiger Zinda Hai, War, and Pathaan, which became massive theatrical successes through stylish action, scale, and franchise appeal. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) But at the same time, Alpha faces its own set of challenges. It is the first female-led film in the Spy Universe and also arrives after the underwhelming performance of War 2, which has slightly impacted the momentum of the franchise. The pressure on the movie has increased further after the blockbuster success of Aditya Dhar's Dhurandhar films, as audiences are now comparing every spy-action entertainer to Dhar's grounded and intense style. Alpha's current trade projections suggest an opening in the range of 7–8 crore net, but the film still has a realistic chance of surprising trade expectations if it can maintain the online chatter till its release. On the positive side, the trailer response has been fairly positive, and the promotional content has repeatedly gone viral online, keeping audience curiosity alive ahead of release. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) In today's digital era, constant online discussion often plays a huge role in keeping a film relevant, and Alpha has successfully remained part of the public conversation throughout its promotional campaign. While Alpha is not currently being seen as a double-digit starter, things can change pretty quickly as buzz is there for the film, plus, it is a part of a successful shared universe where cameos can trigger excitement, which seems to be happening for Alpha as well. For now, the buzz is undeniably there, and it will be interesting to see whether that curiosity ultimately converts into strong theatrical footfalls.

Akshay Kumar's Welcome To The Jungle Paid Previews Confirmed; Advance Booking Open Now

BY SACNILK

Mumbai, June 23 - The makers of Welcome To The Jungle have officially opened advance bookings for the much-awaited comedy entertainer starring Akshay Kumar. Adding to the excitement, the film will also have special paid preview shows beginning on June 25 at 7:30 PM, one day ahead of its theatrical release. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) A brand-new promotional poster shared by the team confirms that audiences will be able to watch the film early through paid previews across selected cinemas nationwide. The announcement has already created massive buzz among fans of the popular Welcome franchise. The Ahmed Khan directorial features one of the biggest ensemble casts seen in a Bollywood comedy film. Alongside Akshay Kumar, the movie stars Suniel Shetty, Paresh Rawal, Arshad Warsi, Disha Patani, Jacqueline Fernandez, Lara Dutta, Raveena Tandon, Johnny Lever, Rajpal Yadav, Krishna Abhishek and several others. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) The newly released poster showcases the cast in an action-packed jungle setup, hinting at a comedy adventure loaded with chaos, confusion and larger-than-life entertainment — elements that made the original Welcome films hugely popular among audiences. With booking now live on major ticketing platforms, the film is expected to put strong occupancy for the paid preview shows, especially in multiplex chains and metro cities. The early screening strategy has become increasingly popular in Bollywood, helping films build strong word-of-mouth before the official opening day.

Akshay Kumar's Welcome To The Jungle Eyes One of Widest Releases; Distributors Push for Massive Show Allocation

BY SACNILK

Mumbai, June 23 - Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar-led Welcome To The Jungle is reportedly gearing up for one of the widest releases seen for a Bollywood comedy entertainer in recent years. It is said that distributors are pressuring exhibitors to stage massive showcases across both single-screen theatres and multiplexes ahead of the film's release. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) According to a Bollywood Hungama report, distributors are demanding all shows in several single-screen cinemas, while multiplex chains with six screens are being asked to allocate at least three shows per screen to the film. The aggressive release strategy underscores the growing importance of opening-weekend collections in today's theatrical market. The makers are banking heavily on the franchise value of the Welcome series along with the film's massive ensemble cast and large-scale comic setup. With strong distribution backing already in place, the film is expected to secure extensive penetration across key mass and urban circuits nationwide. However, the move has also triggered discussions within exhibition circles. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) While some trade experts see it as a sign of confidence, others believe excessive showcasing can become risky if audience demand fails to match expectations. In recent years, several big-budget Bollywood films have failed to perform to the level of high expectations. Plus, there are holdover films which are doing well at the box office, and will be forcing the exhibitors to allocate enough shows in the coming week. Despite the debate, Welcome To The Jungle is clearly being positioned as a major theatrical event. Whether the ambitious release strategy converts into strong box office numbers will ultimately depend on audience response once the film arrives in cinemas. The film is scheduled to release on June 26.

Top 5 Weekend Box Office Grossers (June 19-21): Cocktail 2 Leads As Maa Inti Bangaaram and Main Vaapas Aaunga Score Solid Weekend

BY SACNILK

Mumbai, June 22 - The June 19–21 weekend delivered an exciting mix of Bollywood entertainers, Telugu dramas, and international thrillers at the Indian box office. Leading the charts comfortably was Cocktail 2, which emerged as the highest-grossing film of the weekend with a strong 57.50 crore gross collection in its debut frame. Backed by strong advance bookings, hit music, and impressive youth appeal, the romantic drama dominated multiplexes across the country to score one of the biggest opening weekends for a romantic comedy film at the domestic box office. The advances for Monday were good, hinting at a good hold on the crucial working day. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) In second place was Samantha Ruth Prabhu's Telugu film Maa Inti Bangaaram, which collected an impressive 26.75 crore gross over its opening weekend. The action comedy received positive word-of-mouth and performed exceptionally well in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, exceeding expectations. Samantha's powerful comeback performance played a major role in attracting audiences to theatres.
