WWE Attempting To Erease Former CEO And Chairman, Vince McMahon
WWE finds itself at the center of controversy as its former CEO and Chairman, Vince McMahon, faces serious allegations of involvement in a sex trafficking and abuse scandal. McMahon resigned from all his roles within the company last Friday, including TKO Executive Chairman and the TKO Board of Directors.
Janel Grant, a former WWE employee, has filed a bombshell lawsuit accusing McMahon of coercing her into engaging in sexual activities with him and other men. The allegations also include McMahon allegedly sharing explicit photos of the victim with various individuals inside and outside the company.
In a departure from McMahon's previous exits from WWE, this time the company has chosen to distance itself without any ceremonial send-off. There was a conspicuous absence of McMahon's name during the Friday SmackDown show and other recent WWE events. This strategic silence, noted by Wrestling Observer Radio's Dave Meltzer, suggests a deliberate effort by WWE to navigate the fallout from the scandal.
Meltzer speculates on the potential impact on WWE's ratings, historically influenced by bad news related to Vince McMahon. However, the intentional omission of McMahon's name from recent shows indicates a shift in WWE's strategy to avoid capitalizing on scandalous developments, emphasizing the seriousness of the allegations.
Meltzer acknowledges the historical significance of Vince McMahon's role in shaping WWE's history but expresses doubt about whether McMahon's name will be mentioned on WWE shows in the foreseeable future. WWE's commitment to addressing the allegations seriously and its focus on the organization's future are evident in the decision to remain silent on the matter.
