While WWE has yet to officially announce any matches for this year's SummerSlam, insiders reveal that the company has an internal match card ready for the highly anticipated event. In line with recent trends, Triple H has been conscious of keeping the number of matches at major events lower than Vince McMahon did in the past. Speculation from Dave Meltzer suggests that the matches earmarked for SummerSlam could potentially be shifted to television programming at the last minute, either right before or after the event. WWE has previously adopted a similar approach with matches involving the Women's Tag Team Titles and Tag Team Titles on SmackDown.

“We were basically told that those bouts are scheduled but there is a lot of competition to get on the show, although most of the aforementioned matches would figure to be locks," Meltzer stated this.
