And in a surprising turn of events, Pat McAfee stunned The Miz with a shocking defeat.

WWE United States Championship: Austin Theory Vs John Cena

In the early stages of the match, Cena was dominating until Theory resorted to biting his ear, which frustrated Cena and caused him to complain to the referee. Taking advantage of the distraction, Theory blindsided Cena with a sudden punch from behind. He then used a series of vertical suplexes, a blockbuster, and a rolling dropkick to gain the upper hand, scoring a near fall.

Cena managed to avoid another dropkick attempt and locked in his signature submission move, the STF, which got the crowd excited. However, Theory once again resorted to dirty tactics by biting Cena to break free from the hold. Cena attempted to execute his finishing move, the AA, but Theory slipped out and countered with a devastating DDT, coming close to another pinfall.

Despite being trapped in a headlock, Cena managed to power out and mount a spirited comeback, much to the delight of the crowd. He delivered his trademark five-knuckle shuffle, showcasing his bald spot in the process, but accidentally knocked over the referee as he prepared to hoist Theory up for the AA.

With the referee down, Theory found an opening and hit Cena with a low blow before delivering his finishing move, the A-Town Down, to secure the pinfall victory. Despite Cena's valiant efforts, Theory's underhanded tactics proved too much for him to overcome.

Ivar attempted a moonsault, but Angelo Dawkins wisely moved out of the way. Strowman capitalized on the situation and delivered a splash on Ivar, but the pin attempt was interrupted by the other wrestlers. Singles Match: Seth Rollins Vs Logan Paul

Paul made his entrance on a zip line, moving at a slow pace. He was mic'd up and used the opportunity to boast about his grand entrance. The attention soon shifted to the Prime energy drink mascot, which was designed to divert the audience's attention from Paul. Meanwhile, Jasper Randall, the musical composer, led the crowd in singing Rollins' theme, but the sound was fake. The real crowd began singing when Rollins made his entrance to his theme song.

Paul was dressed in blue and yellow, while Rollins donned an all-pink outfit. The Prime mascot remained at ringside throughout the match. Rollins started strong, but Paul eventually threw him out of the ring and followed up with a Buckshot lariat, which was referred to as a Maverick lariat. Paul also punched Rollins in the stomach, and the announcers pointed out the screw embedded in his hand.

Paul gained control of the match, but he missed a step-up moonsault, and Rollins took advantage, mounting a comeback that included three consecutive suicide dives. Rollins stomped on Paul's right hand, the same hand that previously knocked out Rollins.

In a back-and-forth sequence, Paul countered a Pedigree, and the two exchanged cradles. Paul finally punched Rollins with his right hand, but it took him too long to make a cover, and Rollins kicked out. Paul attempted a stomp, but Rollins caught him, executing a sit-out powerbomb for a two-count.

The Prime mascot intervened and pulled Paul out of the ring when he was in danger. The mascot then removed his face covering, revealing himself to be Paul's friend KSI. While Paul was posing, Rollins shoved KSI onto the announce table, causing Paul to crash through it.

Rollins then pulled Paul back into the ring and hit a Pedigree, coming very close to a pinfall victory. The crowd was at the edge of their seats. Paul responded with a Go To Sleep and a frog splash for a near-fall. Aalyah was about to jump the barricade, but Rey managed to stop her. This gave Dom the opportunity to punch Rey and take control of the match. Dom worked Rey over and executed an impressive Michinoku Driver for a near fall. He then got in his mother's face, but she slapped him, allowing Rey to capitalize and slam him into the ring post. Rey even kissed Angie to the crowd's amusement.

At the beginning of the match, Charlotte appeared to have the upper hand, which the announcers attributed to her experience, but Ripley soon turned the tables and focused on Charlotte's back. Despite Charlotte's efforts to fight back with backbreakers, clotheslines, and chops, Ripley managed to hit a German suplex for a nearfall.

Charlotte attempted a flying crossbody, but Ripley rolled through and attempted a Rip-tide, only for Charlotte to counter with an impressive DDT that earned her a two-count. Charlotte then tried to apply a figure four, but Ripley countered with a cradle for another nearfall, before both women knocked each other down with big boots. Ripley responded with strikes, but Charlotte cut her off with a fallaway slam.

Later, Charlotte went for a moonsault, but Ripley countered with a super release German suplex for another close nearfall. Charlotte then hit Natural Selection for another two-count. WWE Undisputed Tag Team Championships: Kevin Owens & Sami Zayn Vs The Usos

In the opening moments, Zayn and Jimmy Uso were slated to commence, but a surprising substitution saw Jey Uso take Jimmy's place instead. With a helping hand from Jimmy, Jey quickly gained the upper hand over Zayn, leaving Owens to protest to the referee before heading back to his corner.

After a hard-fought five minutes, Zayn managed to fend off both Usos and tagged Owens in, who promptly took out both opponents with an impressive senton over the top rope. Owens then executed a daring frog splash onto Jimmy on the outside, followed by another on Jey inside the ring for a near-fall. Jey retaliated with a lifting neckbreaker, but Owens managed to block a stunner attempt.

Owens then went for a senton bomb, but Jey anticipated the move and managed to counter with a knee to the gut. Jimmy, who had made a blind tag, seized the opportunity to splash Owens, but Owens kicked out at the last moment. Undeterred, Owens proceeded to dodge a running hip attack from Jimmy and deliver two superkicks and a cannonball.

Jey tried to intervene, but Zayn quickly put him in his place with a brainbuster on the apron. Owens then took advantage and hit Jimmy with a senton bomb, but the resilient Uso managed to kick out. With the crowd singing "Olé" in appreciation of Zayn's performance, Zayn hit Jimmy with a Blue Thunder Bomb, but Jey had made a blind tag and delivered a jumping superkick for a close two-count.

Jimmy retaliated with a superkick, followed by one from Jey, and together they delivered a double superkick, but Owens broke up the pin. Jimmy then sent Owens out of the ring with another superkick, leaving Zayn vulnerable to a double superkick from the Usos. Miraculously, Zayn managed to kick out by rolling his shoulder up.

Jimmy then tagged in, and the Usos went for their signature move, the 1D, but Owens tripped Jimmy, allowing Zayn to cradle Jey for a near-fall. Owens then attempted to powerbomb Jimmy onto the announce table, but Jey intervened just in time to save his partner. The Usos then delivered a devastating double chokeslam on Owens through the announce table, leaving Zayn alone in the ring.

The Usos then delivered another 1D on Zayn, and it seemed as though it might be the end, but Zayn miraculously kicked out. Commentator Cole was stunned as no one had ever kicked out of the 1D before, and the crowd was buzzing with excitement.

Jey relentlessly attacked Zayn, who seemed to be in trouble and unable to counter. Jey even executed his version of a Helluva Kick, and then taunted Zayn. However, Zayn suddenly grabbed Jey and slammed him into the turnbuckles with a powerful exploder.

Owens returned to the apron, and Zayn tagged him in. Owens quickly unleashed pop-up powerbombs on both Usos, while Zayn connected with a Helluva Kick on Jimmy. Owens followed up with a stunner on Jey, which almost resulted in a pinfall.

All four men regained their footing, and the two teams resumed their intense brawl. Owens hit several superkicks, but then ate some of his own, with the Usos also delivering a superkick to Zayn and sending him tumbling off the apron.

Undeterred, the Usos delivered a double splash on Owens, who incredibly kicked out of the pin attempt. However, the Usos continued their assault and superkicked Owens repeatedly against the turnbuckle, setting up for a big move. Suddenly, Zayn intervened and pulled Jimmy out of the ring, hurling him over the announce table. In the ring, Owens executed an avalanche fisherman’s buster on Jey before tagging in Zayn, who was the legal man.

Zayn quickly struck Jey with not one, but two Helluva kicks, while Owens hit Jimmy with a stunner. Zayn then delivered another Helluva kick on Jey, finally securing the pinfall victory. The crowd erupted in cheers as Zayn and Owens celebrated their hard-fought triumph.

The Rock's Absence Causes WWE To Alter WrestleMania 39's Championship Lineup And Introduce New Title Belt

BY SACNILK

Several months ago, WrestlingNews.co first reported plans for two colossal championship matches at the forthcoming WWE WrestleMania 39. According to the report, the intention was to divide the WWE Championship and the Universal Championship eventually. ## At the previous WrestleMania 38, the Universal Champion Roman Reigns conquered WWE Champion Brock Lesnar to merge the titles. ## WrestlingNews.co's report highlighted that the initial blueprint for the first night of WrestleMania 39 was for either Cody Rhodes or Drew McIntyre to confront Seth Rollins for the WWE Championship, while Reigns would take on The Rock. However, WWE had to revise their plans as soon as they found out that The Rock would not partake in the match. ## This Monday, Triple H announced that a new World Heavyweight Champion would be crowned on May 27 at WWE Night of Champions in Saudi Arabia. Although unconfirmed, based on the hints dropped on Raw, it appears that Rollins is the leading contender to become the inaugural champion. ## According to the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reported that the inception of the decision to introduce a second top title belt dates back to WrestleMania 38. ## Meltzer wrote, “The idea of bringing back the second title dates back literally to when the titles were unified at the April 3, 2022, WrestleMania show in Dallas when Roman Reigns beat Brock Lesnar. We had been told before the match that the company felt it needed two titles, but also based on the Mania stipulation, it had to wait a certain length of time before creating the second one.” ## To stay updated with all the latest combat sports news, add Sacnilk.com to your Google News feeds and follow us on Twitter.

'Stone Cold' Steve Austin's WrestleMania 39 Match With Top WWE Star Derailed By TV Show Schedule

BY SACNILK

Despite the favorable reception of WWE WrestleMania 39 by numerous fans, a contingent of enthusiasts lamented the conspicuous absence of the legendary 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin from the event, particularly in the wake of his comeback to the ring at WWE WrestleMania 38. ## In a recent interview with Bleacher Report, the 'Texas Rattlesnake' disclosed that a definite proposition was in place for him to engage in a highly anticipated bout at WrestleMania 39 with one of the company's top-tier performers. However, the production schedule for his television program ultimately thwarted this potential clash of titans. ## "People have asked me, 'Why didn't do you do 'Mania?' They asked me, but I didn't know what my life was going to look like until I was done with this show. I finished up on the show four days before WrestleMania. I drove every single mile in an RV and I brought dumbbells with me, a sandbag and a kettle bell, so I got my workouts in. ## The concrete idea was a match. It was a match with one of the top guys in the business, period. I'll let everybody speculate about that, but yeah, it was a match and I just didn't think I could get ready for it in time because I didn't know my schedule, which is what I told them. 'I don't know what my life looks like until I finish this show.'" ## Special thanks to Bleacher Report & Graham Matthews for the quote(s). ## To stay updated with all the latest combat sports news, add Sacnilk.com to your Google News feeds and follow us on Twitter.

Road Dogg Defends WWE's Decision For Roman Reigns To Retain Against Cody Rhodes At WrestleMania 39

BY SACNILK

According to Brian James, aka Road Dogg, who is currently a WWE Executive and also a Hall of Famer, the decision for Roman Reigns to retain the WWE Universal Championship against Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania 39 was a strategic one for the company. James stated in a recent episode of his podcast 'Oh...You Didn't Know?' that a victory for Rhodes would not have been a smart business move. ## James explained that the storyline leading up to the match was focused on Rhodes' desire to fulfill his father Dusty Rhodes' legacy and claim the top prize in WWE. However, he believes that the outcome of the match was not the end of Rhodes' title chase, but rather the closing of a chapter in his story. James implied that Rhodes may have more opportunities in the future to pursue the championship, and a victory at WrestleMania 39 may not have allowed for further storylines to develop. ## James also mentioned that from a business standpoint, keeping the title on Reigns, who was portrayed as a dominant and top heel (villainous character) at the time, was a strategic decision to maintain his momentum and elevate his status as a top champion in the company. He added that sometimes, in the wrestling business, unexpected outcomes and decisions are made to create drama, suspense, and future opportunities for storytelling. ## “The argument is a legitimate one to go back now that history has told that story and go, ‘Okay. Should he have got it then? Should he won it then?’ Like, man, I don’t think that’s smart business. I think that’s great booking if you’re a fan, but I don’t think it’s smart business. If you tell the story and go, ‘The end,’ close the book. Then, ‘Okay, now we got to start over,’ I just feel like this was just a chapter closing. ## He came in, and this has been said by some people that speak about wrestling that kinda know what they’re talking about, he came in, and he had no adversity. He went right through the Rumble, right through everybody, and right to the champion. So the argument could be made, ‘Man if you just give it to him now, did he earn it?’ ## Yes, he has over the extension of his career, for sure, if you can tell that whole story, and they have tried to tell that whole story as much as they could if you see in the promos, they talk a lot about what all he’s done because that’s a really cool part of his story is what he has accomplished in this industry. By himself, you know what I mean? Like, I mean, yes, he’s had some help. Yes, his father was a wrestler, his brother, all that. Man, he came in and changed the game a little bit, and kudos to him for that. ## So really, it’s a bigger picture conversation. Whether he has the title around his waist right now or not, let’s just stop and think about what Cody’s done and accomplished from a human standpoint. Holy mackerel, this dude’s an entrepreneur in the industry of sports entertainment, and that has never existed before.” ## H/T: Fightful for the above transcription ## To stay updated with all the latest combat sports news, add Sacnilk.com to your Google News feeds and follow us on Twitter.

Cody Rhodes' WrestleMania 38 WWE Title Bid Foiled By Roman Reigns' Secret Victory Plan

BY SACNILK

Roman Reigns retaining the Undisputed WWE Universal Title at WrestleMania 39 against Cody Rhodes was always the WWE's plan. After making a return to WWE at WrestleMania 38, Cody Rhodes expressed his desire to become WWE Champion. ## He was given an opportunity to do so after recovering from an injury, entering the men's Royal Rumble match at number 30 and winning it, which earned him a shot at Roman Reigns' Undisputed WWE Universal Title. Many believed that Rhodes was the one to put an end to Reigns' dominance at the top of WWE. ## The company built up to their showdown, which served as the main event of the second night of WrestleMania. However, outside interference from The Usos led to Rhodes' defeat, as Solo Sikoa hit him with the Samoan Spike. ## The finish of the match came as a shock to many fans, but according to Dave Meltzer's report in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the plan was always for Reigns to retain his title. The outcome of the match was predetermined, and the company never intended for Rhodes to walk away with the championship. ## “Reigns winning was always the plan, although it was kept secret and almost nobody knew," Dave Meltzer noted the following about the finish. ## To stay updated with all the latest combat sports news, add Sacnilk.com to your Google News feeds and follow us on Twitter.
