Warner Bros. And Sony Pictures Pulled 'The Batman' & 'Morbius' Russia Release

Mumbai, March 1 - Warner Bros. has decided to pause the release of its highly-anticipated DC movie, "The Batman" in Russia amid the continuous invasion of Ukraine. "The Batman", starring Robert Pattinson, was slated for March 3rd release in Russia, which has now been pulled at the 11th hour.

"In light of the humanitarian crisis in Ukraine, WarnerMedia is pausing the release of its feature film The Batman in Russia", a WarnerMedia spokesperson said in a statement. "We will continue to monitor the situation as it evolves. We hope for a swift and peaceful resolution to this tragedy".

Apart from Warner Bros., Sony Pictures has also taken a decision to not release its upcoming movies in Russia, including the high-profile Marvel pic "Morbius", starring Jared Leto. "Morbius" was slated for January 28 release this year, but now, postponed to April 1st.

"Given the ongoing military action in Ukraine and the resulting uncertainty and humanitarian crisis unfolding in that region, we will be pausing our planned theatrical releases in Russia, including the upcoming release of Morbius", a Sony spokesperson said late Monday.

Russia has been one of the biggest international markets for Hollywood films. The recently released Sony's "Spider-Man: No Way Home" has so far grossed $44.5 million in Russia since its debut in December 2021.

It is to be known that Disney was the first to take the decision of not releasing its film in Russia. It's not clear how long Disney's ban of its movies in Russia will go on. Disney/Marvel’s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is set to kick off summer on May 6.

Stay tuned...

Spider-Man: Brand New Day Defies Superhero Fatigue With Record Advance Booking

BY SACNILK

Los Angeles, June 19 - At a time when Hollywood continues debating the existence of superhero fatigue, Sony and Marvel's Spider-Man: Brand New Day has delivered a massive response even before its release. The Tom Holland starrer has reportedly recorded the biggest first-day U.S. presales in five years, instantly becoming one of the most anticipated films of 2026. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) Director Destin Daniel Cretton's film has posted the best first-day presales in five years and the fourth-biggest of all time, though the numbers are not revealed. The strong booking numbers are particularly significant because the superhero genre has struggled in recent years. Several comic-book films have underperformed both critically and commercially, leading many to believe audiences were beginning to lose interest in superhero stories. However, Spider-Man continues to stand apart from the rest of the genre. One major reason is the character's universal appeal. Unlike larger-than-life superheroes, Peter Parker has always felt relatable to audiences. Across generations, Spider-Man films have balanced emotional storytelling, humour, and spectacle in a way that keeps viewers emotionally invested. Tom Holland's version of the character especially resonated with younger audiences through his grounded, vulnerable portrayal. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) The excitement surrounding Brand New Day has also been fueled by the emotional ending of Spider-Man: No Way Home. Fans are eager to see what happens next after Peter Parker sacrificed his identity and personal relationships to save the multiverse. Early footage from the film hints at a darker and more isolated Spider-Man, which has only increased anticipation online. The overwhelming presales response proves that the superhero fatigue might be real, but Spidey is unaffected by it. Spider-Man remains one of the few superhero brands capable of turning a comic-book film into a genuine cinematic event, and Brand New Day is already shaping up to be another major box-office success. It is scheduled to release on July 30 in India and July 31 in the US.

CBFC Cuts 5 Minutes of Spider-Man: Brand New Day India? Here Is The Truth

BY SACNILK

Mumbai, June 18 - Sony and Marvel's Spider-Man: Brand New Day is undoubtedly one of the most anticipated Hollywood films of 2026. Ever since Spider-Man: No Way Home became a global blockbuster, fans have been eagerly waiting to see Tom Holland return as Peter Parker in the next chapter of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The excitement around the film is especially massive in India, where Spider-Man continues to be one of Marvel's most popular superheroes. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) Recently, social media was flooded with rumours claiming that the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) had cut nearly five minutes from the Indian version of the film. The speculation started after some Indian cinema booking platforms reportedly showed a runtime shorter than several international listings, leading fans to believe that scenes had been removed for the India release. However, Sony Pictures India has now dismissed these claims. Responding to discussions on X (formerly Twitter), the studio clarified that Spider-Man: Brand New Day has yet to receive certification in India. This means reports about the CBFC already imposing cuts on the film are inaccurate and premature. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) At present, there is no official CBFC certification record confirming any edits or scene removals from the movie. The runtime difference could simply be due to placeholder listings or variations in how theatres display film durations, including credits and intermission timings. Until the film officially completes the certification process, rumours about five-minute cuts remain unverified speculation. The film is scheduled to release on July 30, and bookings in PLF formats have already begun.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day to skip IMAX release in India as Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey secures exclusive screens

BY SACNILK

July is shaping up to be one of the biggest months for Hollywood releases in India, with two massive titles arriving just weeks apart. Christopher Nolan's period epic, The Odyssey, is scheduled to hit screens on July 17, followed by the highly anticipated Spider-Man: Brand New Day on July 30. While both films are still a few weeks away, the buzz is already reflected in the advance bookings. Tickets for The Odyssey went live on June 8, while Spider-Man bookings opened yesterday, June 17. The response has been overwhelming, suggesting a massive opening for both films at the Indian box office. However, there is a specific detail that has caught the attention of Marvel fans. For the first time in a long while, a solo Spider-Man film will skip an IMAX release in India. While these films are usually a staple for the giant screen format, Sony Pictures India recently confirmed that Spider-Man: Brand New Day will not be available in IMAX. Instead, the studio is steering audiences toward other premium large-format screens like PXL, 4DX, ScreenX, and Dolby Cinema. This decision is not about the film's quality, but rather a strategic screen-locking move by Christopher Nolan. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) The reason behind this IMAX absence is the exclusive window secured for The Odyssey. Nolan's latest project was shot entirely using IMAX 70mm film cameras, making it a priority for the format globally. Because of the technical requirements and Nolan's long-standing partnership with the brand, all IMAX screens in India and around the world will exclusively play The Odyssey for a minimum of three weeks. Since Spider-Man arrives just thirteen days after Nolan's film, it falls directly into this lockout period, leaving no room for the web-slinger on IMAX screens. This trend of exclusive IMAX windows is becoming more common as filmmakers push for specific cinematic experiences. We saw a similar situation during the release of Oppenheimer in 2023, where its sustained performance kept other big titles away from IMAX for weeks. It looks like the industry is heading toward more of these clashes, as reports suggest that the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday might also face similar screen issues when it goes up against Dune: Part Three later in the year. To counter this, studios like Disney are even looking into introducing their own premium certifications to ensure their blockbusters still feel like a grand event. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) Despite the lack of IMAX shows, the hype for Spider-Man: Brand New Day remains incredibly high. Fans are quickly filling up shows in other immersive formats like 4DX and ScreenX, which offer their own unique viewing experiences. The film also holds a unique connection to its competitor, as Tom Holland stars in both of these July blockbusters. It is a rare situation where an actor will be competing against himself at the box office with two of the years most anticipated movies. Spider-Man: Brand New Day is set to release in multiple languages including English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada. Indian audiences will actually get to see the film on July 30, a day before its global release on July 31. With a wide variety of formats like 3D, Dolby Cinema, and MX4D still available, the movie is expected to dominate the charts, even if the biggest screens in the country are occupied by Nolan's epic journey.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day Heads For $200 Million Opening Weekend In North America; But Can It Come Close To Spider-Man: No Way Home?

BY SACNILK

Los Angeles, June 18 - Sony and Marvel's Spider-Man: Brand New Day is shaping up to be one of the biggest theatrical releases of 2026, with early projections suggesting that the highly anticipated superhero film could open to more than $200 million during its debut weekend in North America. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) The Tom Holland starrer has generated tremendous buzz ever since its first promotional material was unveiled online. Industry insiders and tracking analysts have pointed to exceptionally strong advance booking trends, indicating that audience demand for the film is already at a high level weeks ahead of release. Spider-Man continues to remain one of the most bankable superhero franchises in Hollywood, and the upcoming film appears to be benefiting from that popularity. Fans are particularly excited to see Holland return to the role following the record-breaking success of Spider-Man: No Way Home. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) While crossing the $200 million mark would be a massive achievement on its own, the big question now is whether Brand New Day can match or even come close to the extraordinary debut of Spider-Man: No Way Home. Released in 2021, the multiverse blockbuster opened to a staggering $260 million domestically, making it one of the biggest opening weekends in box office history. Although Brand New Day may not have the same nostalgia-driven multiverse appeal as its predecessor, the strong pre-release hype suggests that audiences are more than ready for another Spider-Man adventure on the big screen. Positive social media reactions, high trailer engagement, and strong ticket demand have only added to expectations surrounding the film. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) If the current momentum continues, Spider-Man: Brand New Day could easily secure one of the biggest openings ever for a superhero movie and further cement Spider-Man's status as Marvel's most reliable box office powerhouse. The film is scheduled to release on July 31, while it will release on July 30 in India.

Christopher Nolan in Mumbai? The Odyssey Set for its First-Ever India Premiere with Major Hollywood Stars

BY SACNILK

Christopher Nolan is scheduled to visit Mumbai this July for the premiere of his upcoming epic, The Odyssey. This event marks a shift in how major Hollywood productions are rolled out, as it is the first time a Nolan project will hold an official premiere in India. Universal Pictures has positioned Mumbai as a key stop on the film's global tour, alongside cities like London, Paris, and New York. Nolan will be joined by lead actors Matt Damon and Tom Holland, as well as producer Emma Thomas, ahead of the worldwide release on July 17. Joining Nolan for this historic visit will be two of the film's lead stars, Matt Damon and Tom Holland, along with Academy Award-winning producer Emma Thomas. The choice of venue is just as significant as the guests, with the premiere scheduled at the PVR Icon IMAX at Phoenix Palladium. Given Nolan's well-known preference for the format, this location serves as the perfect backdrop for a film that is breaking new ground in technical filmmaking. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) Speaking of technology, The Odyssey is not just another big-budget release. It is being billed as the first feature film ever to be shot entirely using IMAX cameras. Nolan has always pushed the boundaries of film stock, but by using brand new IMAX technology for the entire runtime, he is offering an experience that literally cannot be replicated on standard screens. This technical milestone is a major reason why the global anticipation for the July 17 release has reached such a fever pitch. The story itself is a reimagining of Homer's foundational saga, focusing on the decade-long voyage of Odysseus following the fall of Troy. To bring this massive tale to life, Nolan has assembled an incredible ensemble cast. Beyond Damon and Holland, the film features Anne Hathaway, Robert Pattinson, Lupita Nyong'o, Zendaya, and Charlize Theron. For a single production to boast this many A-list names is rare, and it explains why Universal Pictures is treating the marketing tour as such a high-profile event. Watch The Trailer Here (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) From a business perspective, the buzz in India is already translating into record-breaking numbers. Advance tickets for IMAX screenings went on sale on June 8, and the pricing has become a major talking point. In cities like Mumbai and Pune, premium seats are being listed for as high as 3,000 to 3,300 rupees. While these are among the most expensive tickets ever sold in the country, the demand remains remarkably high, with many late-night shows selling out almost instantly. It shows a clear trend where the Indian audience is willing to pay a premium for a unique, event-style theatrical experience. Ultimately, this visit signals a shift in how Hollywood perceives the Indian market. By bringing the director and the lead stars for a full-scale premiere ahead of the July 17 worldwide launch, the studio is acknowledging the massive and growing loyal fan base Nolan has built here. It is no longer just about the box office collections; it is about establishing a direct connection with one of the most passionate movie-going audiences in the world.

Mumbai, June 15 - The Indian box office witnessed a competitive weekend from June 12 to 14, with a mix of holdover releases and new arrivals attracting audiences across the country. While Ram Charan's Peddi comfortably retained the top position, the biggest success stories of the weekend were Obsession and Haunted 3D, both of which delivered impressive numbers and continued the recent dominance of horror films at the box office. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) Peddi emerged as the highest-grossing film of the weekend, collecting an estimated 26.30 crore during the three days. Although the film experienced a noticeable drop from its opening weekend, it continued to attract audiences in Telugu states and remained the top choice among moviegoers. The sports-action drama has already established itself as one of the year's biggest box office successes and is continuing its run despite growing competition. Hollywood horror thriller Obsession secured the second spot with an excellent 17.70 crore weekend. The film once again demonstrated extraordinary staying power, registering strong occupancy across major urban centres. The horror title has become one of the biggest surprise successes of the year in India and is steadily moving toward the 100 crore milestone. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) Among the new releases, Haunted 3D: Echoes of the Past delivered the strongest performance. Varun Dhawan, Pooja Hegde, and Mrunal Thakur's Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai put up a decent performance in the second weekend, though the overall collection is still underwhelming. Rounding out the top five was Steven Spielberg's sci-fi Hollywood thriller Disclosure Day. Horror's Box Office Rise: Haunted 3D, Backrooms Score Good Opening As Obsession Continues Strong Run On Friday

BY SACNILK

Mumbai, June 13 - There were several new releases this Friday in India, and among them, the horror genre continues to emerge as one of the most reliable performers at the Indian box office. While several star-driven films hit cinemas on Friday, it was Vikram Bhatt's Haunted 3D: Echoes of the Past that attracted the strongest audience response among the new releases, further highlighting the growing popularity of horror films in the country. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) According to estimates, Haunted 3D opened with an India net collection of approximately 2.50 crore (3 crore gross) on its first day. The film outperformed fellow Friday releases, including Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata, Main Vaapas Aaunga and Governor, despite carrying a much smaller scale and lower pre-release buzz. The majority of its collections came from Hindi-speaking markets, where the film recorded encouraging occupancy throughout the day. New Hollywood horror thriller Backrooms has also generated interest among urban Indian audiences, particularly in premium multiplexes. On its opening day, the film grossed approximately 1.50 crores, including premiere shows. It was the least expected to perform, but it surprised the trade with its better-than-expected start, very much like Haunted 3D. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) Meanwhile, holdover horror-thriller Obsession continued its impressive run at the Indian box office. On its third Friday, the film scored an excellent around 4 crore gross, which is in par with its second Friday collection. This has pushed the total Indian gross collection of the movie to 63.25 crores in 15 days. The movie is heading towards the 100 crore mark, which is a remarkable achievement for an original international title. Together, Haunted 3D, Backrooms and Obsession reflect a larger trend currently visible in the market: horror films are increasingly becoming dependable theatrical attractions, often delivering stronger returns than many mainstream dramas and star vehicles. The success of these titles once again proves that audiences are willing to turn up for well-marketed horror films with engaging concepts.
