Recently, it was reported that Akshay and Priyadarshan had finalised another project in the comedy thriller genre. Now, according to the latest report by Bollywood Hungama, the duo's 9th film together has been titled Wicked Sunny. It is said that the title does complete justice to the film's zone as well as its lead character.

The upcoming film is said to be a comedy-thriller and will reportedly be produced by Ramesh Taurani under the banner of Tips Films. While an official announcement is still awaited, the reported title has already generated significant buzz among fans of the duo.

Interestingly, the title Wicked Sunny is believed to be inspired by the popular phrase associated with Akshay Kumar's character from the 2004 comedy Mujhse Shaadi Karogi. Welcome To The Jungle Box Office Day 8: Film Collects Rs. 4.50 Cr Net Amidst Significant Screen Reduction Following Alpha's Release

BY SACNILK

Welcome To The Jungle, the third installment in the beloved comedy franchise, has officially entered its second week at the box office. As of its eighth day, the film is showing steady legs despite a significant shift in the theatrical landscape. On Friday, July 3, the movie faced its first major hurdle with the release of the female-led spy thriller Alpha, which led to a noticeable reduction in its show count across the country. To put this into perspective, the film was running with 9,917 shows on Thursday, but this number dropped to 7,557 shows on Friday. Despite losing nearly 2,400 shows, the film managed to hold its ground reasonably well. Talking about the numbers, Welcome To The Jungle collected 4.50 crore net on its second Friday. This represents an 18.2 percent drop from the previous day, where it had earned 5.50 crore. While any drop in the second week is worth noting, a dip of less than 20 percent on a day when a new competitor arrives suggests that the film still has a dedicated audience. This Day 8 performance has pushed the total India net collection to 97.65 crore, placing it right on the doorstep of the coveted 100-crore club, which it should comfortably cross over the second weekend. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) When we look at the gross figures, the domestic total has reached 116.27 crore. The overseas market contributed another 1.00 crore on Friday, bringing the total international gross to 27.45 crore. Combining these figures, the worldwide gross collection now stands at an impressive 143.72 crore. For a comedy entertainer with a massive ensemble cast, these numbers reflect a consistent global interest that has spanned over 83,000 shows since its release. In the national multiplex chains, which include PVR, INOX, and Cinepolis, the film saw focused activity. For the second Friday, these chains collectively sold 13,000 tickets, generating a gross of approximately 42 lakhs across 2,000 shows. The occupancy in these premium venues averaged around 3.5 percent. PVR led the contributions with 19.5 lakhs from roughly 840 shows, followed by INOX with 15 lakhs from 700 shows, and Cinepolis adding 7.6 lakhs from 460 shows. While the occupancy rates in multiplexes were on the lower side during the day, the evening and night shows showed much better momentum. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) Regional occupancy trends highlight where the film is currently thriving. Bengaluru emerged as the strongest performer with an overall occupancy of 21.3 percent, peaking at a solid 32 percent during night shows. Other major hubs like the National Capital Region and Mumbai recorded overall occupancies of 16 percent and 13.8 percent respectively. Interestingly, Ahmedabad showed a significant jump in the night, moving from a 3 percent morning occupancy to 27 percent by the end of the day. This trend of night-time growth is a positive sign for the film's prospects over Saturday and Sunday. The digital engagement on BookMyShow also provides a clear picture of its standing among the year's big releases. On its second Friday, the platform recorded 77,190 tickets sold, bringing the total ticket count on the site to over 17.89 lakhs. In the context of second-friday ticket sales for the 2025-26 period, Welcome To The Jungle currently ranks at the eleventh spot. While it sits behind heavy hitters like Dhurandhar and Chhaava, it is maintaining a similar pace to other major sequels like Raid 2.

Alpha Day 1 Box Office: Film Collects Rs. 9.25 Cr Net; Ranks 3rd Among Top 5 Female-Led Bollywood Openers

The YRF Spy Universe has officially expanded its horizon with the release of Alpha. This film marks a significant milestone as it is the first female-led project in the high-stakes franchise. On its opening day, Alpha managed to grab the attention of the audience across the country, showing steady momentum despite the heavy expectations that come with being part of such a successful cinematic universe. The movie opened on July 3, 2026, across 7,534 shows, which is a massive footprint for a standalone thriller of this scale. In terms of financial performance, Alpha collected an India net of 9.25 crore on its first day. When we look at the gross figures, the film brought in 10.80 crore from the domestic market. The early estimates for the overseas market are also trickling in, suggesting a gross collection of around 5.00 crore. This brings the total worldwide gross early estimates to 15.80 crore for the opening day. To give you a sense of the international interest, data from Venky Box Office indicates that in North America, the film earned 207,000 dollars from 393 locations as of Friday evening PST. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) The engagement on booking platforms reflects a healthy appetite for the film. On BookMyShow, the movie saw a total of 224,670 tickets sold for the opening day. This includes a pre-sale count of approximately 71,000 tickets and an additional 154,000 tickets booked on Friday itself. This trend shows that while the advance booking was solid, the actual day-of sales provided a necessary boost to cross the 9-crore mark. When we break down the performance in national multiplex chains, we see that PVR, INOX, and Cinepolis contributed a combined gross over 1.80 crore. Individually, PVR led the pack with 1 crore, while INOX and Cinepolis contributed roughly 56 lakhs and 23 lakhs respectively. These chains sold about 46,000 tickets in total. The regional occupancy rates offer more insight into where the film is resonating most. Hyderabad and Bengaluru recorded the highest occupancy at nearly 25 percent and 24 percent, while the National Capital Region followed closely at 23.5 percent. Mumbai saw an occupancy of 20 percent. The night shows in Hyderabad were particularly strong, peaking at 47 percent, which suggests that the film might see a jump over the weekend. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) To provide some context on where Alpha stands, we have compared its opening day net collection with other major female-led Bollywood films. Currently, Alpha has secured a spot in the top three, matching the opening numbers of the recent hit Crew. While it sits just behind Veere Di Wedding and Gangubai Kathiawadi, it has successfully claimed a joint third position, comfortably outperforming titles like Dear Zindagi. As the first female-led chapter of the YRF Spy Universe, its performance will be closely watched to see if it can maintain this pace. With 224K tickets sold on the first day and strong late-night occupancy in major cities, the film has built a foundation to capitalize on the Saturday and Sunday footfalls. The balance between domestic net collections and overseas early estimates will determine how quickly it can reach the profit zone in the coming week.

Alpha Twitter/X Reactions: Is This The End For YRF Spy Universe?

BY SACNILK

Mumbai, July 3 - Alia Bhatt and Sharvari Wagh-fronted hits the big screen today, and the release has sparked intense discussion online, with social media users questioning whether the movie is the final nail in the coffin for the ever-fading Yash Raj Films Spy Universe? While many viewers praised the film’s action, visuals, and performances, a large section of Twitter reactions described the movie as predictable and formula-driven. Several fans pointed out that the franchise now feels repetitive, relying heavily on slow-motion action, big cameos, and universe-building moments instead of strong storytelling. The criticism surrounding Alpha reflects a growing issue of franchise fatigue in Bollywood. Audiences today are demanding more emotionally engaging stories rather than just large-scale spectacle. While the performances of the lead cast are being praised, the film is getting slammed for its weak writing and the forced cameos. The reaction to Alpha also reflects a larger issue currently affecting big cinematic franchises — audience fatigue.
