Nikki Cross has revealed how she developed the backstory for Abby the Witch, explaining that she wanted to honor Bray Wyatt's original vision while still putting her own creative stamp on the character. She said the mask itself eventually became something she felt emotionally attached to, describing it as almost a source of comfort. “I was so protective of Abby. And I would always carry the mask. And she became so much more than a prop to me. It is not every day that we see a director successfully transition into a leading hero role and command such a strong box office presence right from the start. DC is currently proving to be a significant success story, especially considering it features a debutant hero. What makes this run truly remarkable is the rare pattern of equal contribution from across different states. Typically, South Indian films see a massive skew towards their home state, but for this project, the audience in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Kerala are showing as much love as the fans in Tamil Nadu. This widespread acceptance is a testament to the film's universal appeal. On its first Monday, the film maintained a steady hold with an India gross collection of 6.90 crore. This takes the total India gross to 31.01 crore in just four days. If we look at the net earnings for Day 4, the movie collected 6.00 crore across 4,525 shows, which is a manageable 37.2 percent drop from Sunday's 9.55 crore net. Globally, the momentum is equally strong. With an overseas contribution of 1.50 crore on Monday, the total overseas gross has reached 13.25 crore. This brings the worldwide gross collection to a healthy 44.26 crore, achieved through 16,217 shows across all regions. Tamil Nadu and the APTG regions contributed exactly 2.00 crore each to the daily gross, while Kerala followed very closely with 1.90 crore. Karnataka added 0.70 crore, and the rest of India contributed 0.30 crore. Looking at the total gross so far, Tamil Nadu stands at 9.67 crore, APTG at 8.50 crore, and Kerala at 6.35 crore. For a film without a traditional big-tier star, seeing such a uniform distribution of revenue across borders is incredibly rare and highlights a major shift in audience interest. The language-wise breakdown for Day 4 shows that the Tamil version remains the primary driver, earning 4.15 crore net from 2,116 shows with a solid 38 percent occupancy. This specific performance has even placed the film at number 41 on the list of all-time highest first Monday collections for Tamil cinema. The Telugu version also showed resilience with 1.60 crore net from 1,201 shows at 28 percent occupancy, while the Hindi version added 0.25 crore. In terms of total net earnings across four days, the Tamil version has amassed 18.30 crore, followed by Telugu at 6.95 crore and Hindi at 1.70 crore. In the advance bookings and daily sales for Monday, PVR, INOX, and Cinepolis collectively sold around 17,000 tickets, generating a gross of approximately 0.3 crore. PVR was the main contributor, selling about 11,200 tickets for a gross of around 0.2 crore. INOX followed with roughly 4,200 tickets and 0.06 crore gross, while Cinepolis added about 1,600 tickets for a 0.04 crore gross. These chains operated 600 shows with an impressive occupancy of nearly 14 percent. The occupancy rates in major cities for the Tamil 2D version were particularly high. Kochi led the charts with a staggering 66.5 percent overall occupancy, peaking at 91 percent during night shows. Chennai maintained a strong 46.3 percent occupancy across 278 shows, while Bengaluru stayed at 24.5 percent. On the ticket booking platforms, the trend is very positive. BookMyShow recorded 152.32K tickets for Monday, which is actually higher than the opening Friday sales of 146.33K. This brings the total tickets sold on the platform to over 8.58 lakh. On the international front, Venky Box Office reports that the film earned 110K dollars in North America on Sunday, taking its total there to 370K dollars, with the Telugu version specifically contributing 92K dollars to that total.
