Post Ranveer Singh's Don 3 and Akshaye Khanna's Drishyam 3 Exits, Producers Guild Issues Official Statement On Professional Accountability

The Producers Guild of India has taken a firm stand against the growing trend of talent and technicians backing out of projects at the last minute. In a strongly worded official statement released on June 3, 2026, the Guild addressed instances of professionals reneging on their commitments just days before the start of principal photography. This move comes at a time when the industry is already buzzing with reports of high-profile exits from major franchise films, specifically involving Excel Entertainment and Panorama Studios. As first reported by Bollywood Hungama, these developments have caused significant disruptions in the planning and execution of some of the most anticipated upcoming projects.

The Guild revealed that it has received formal complaints from its members, Excel Entertainment Private Limited and Panorama Studios International Limited. While the official statement did not name any individuals, the timing points toward recent industry headlines. Excel Entertainment, led by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani, has reportedly been dealing with complications after Ranveer Singh's exit from Don 3. The project had built massive expectations as Ranveer was set to carry forward the legacy of the iconic character played by Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan. His sudden departure at an advanced stage of preparation has reportedly created serious logistical and financial hurdles for the production house.

Similarly, Panorama Studios, headed by Kumar Mangat Pathak, faced a similar situation with Drishyam 3 following the exit of Akshaye Khanna. This particular development was a major point of contention in late 2025, with the producer expressing strong disapproval over the last-minute change. These instances served as the catalyst for the Guild to intervene, highlighting that such behavior is not just a breach of contract but a blow to the collaborative spirit of the filmmaking community.

In its statement, the Guild emphasized that no industry member should engage in actions that result in substantial financial losses for producers and other sectors of the trade. It noted that these last-minute exits have serious and far-reaching consequences, undermining the trust and mutual respect upon which the film industry is built. Beyond the immediate financial impact on producers, the statement expressed concern for the livelihoods of hundreds of technicians and crew members who depend on these films for their income.

The statement further explained that such actions cause significant reputational damage and adversely impact the brand value and credibility of the films involved. While the Guild clarified that it supports a free and fair business environment, it made it clear that it does not encourage disruptions in the content production process. It termed any position contrary to this principle as unethical, as it harms the collective interests of the entire film fraternity.

Concluding its address, the Producers Guild urged all parties to resolve their disputes in an amicable manner. The organization asserted its commitment to protecting the interests of the industry and ensuring that professionalism remains a priority. This official stand is expected to trigger a much-needed conversation within Bollywood regarding accountability and the importance of honoring professional commitments to ensure the smooth functioning of the film business.

Akshay Kumar's Welcome To The Jungle Paid Previews Confirmed; Advance Booking Open Now

BY SUNIT JANGIR

Mumbai, June 23 - The makers of Welcome To The Jungle have officially opened advance bookings for the much-awaited comedy entertainer starring Akshay Kumar. Adding to the excitement, the film will also have special paid preview shows beginning on June 25 at 7:30 PM, one day ahead of its theatrical release. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) A brand-new promotional poster shared by the team confirms that audiences will be able to watch the film early through paid previews across selected cinemas nationwide. The announcement has already created massive buzz among fans of the popular Welcome franchise. The Ahmed Khan directorial features one of the biggest ensemble casts seen in a Bollywood comedy film. Alongside Akshay Kumar, the movie stars Suniel Shetty, Paresh Rawal, Arshad Warsi, Disha Patani, Jacqueline Fernandez, Lara Dutta, Raveena Tandon, Johnny Lever, Rajpal Yadav, Krishna Abhishek and several others. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) The newly released poster showcases the cast in an action-packed jungle setup, hinting at a comedy adventure loaded with chaos, confusion and larger-than-life entertainment — elements that made the original Welcome films hugely popular among audiences. With booking now live on major ticketing platforms, the film is expected to put strong occupancy for the paid preview shows, especially in multiplex chains and metro cities. The early screening strategy has become increasingly popular in Bollywood, helping films build strong word-of-mouth before the official opening day.

Akshay Kumar's Welcome To The Jungle Eyes One of Widest Releases; Distributors Push for Massive Show Allocation

BY SUNIT JANGIR

Mumbai, June 23 - Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar-led Welcome To The Jungle is reportedly gearing up for one of the widest releases seen for a Bollywood comedy entertainer in recent years. It is said that distributors are pressuring exhibitors to stage massive showcases across both single-screen theatres and multiplexes ahead of the film's release. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) According to a Bollywood Hungama report, distributors are demanding all shows in several single-screen cinemas, while multiplex chains with six screens are being asked to allocate at least three shows per screen to the film. The aggressive release strategy underscores the growing importance of opening-weekend collections in today's theatrical market. The makers are banking heavily on the franchise value of the Welcome series along with the film's massive ensemble cast and large-scale comic setup. With strong distribution backing already in place, the film is expected to secure extensive penetration across key mass and urban circuits nationwide. However, the move has also triggered discussions within exhibition circles. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) While some trade experts see it as a sign of confidence, others believe excessive showcasing can become risky if audience demand fails to match expectations. In recent years, several big-budget Bollywood films have failed to perform to the level of high expectations. Plus, there are holdover films which are doing well at the box office, and will be forcing the exhibitors to allocate enough shows in the coming week. Despite the debate, Welcome To The Jungle is clearly being positioned as a major theatrical event. Whether the ambitious release strategy converts into strong box office numbers will ultimately depend on audience response once the film arrives in cinemas. The film is scheduled to release on June 26.

Ram Charan Calls for Affordable Popcorn Prices Amid Peddi's Mixed Box Office Result

BY SUNIT JANGIR

Hyderabad, June 23 - Superstar Ram Charan's latest big-screen outing Peddi may have emerged as the highest-grossing South Indian film of 2026, but the film's theatrical journey has also sparked a larger conversation around cinema affordability in India. Amid reports of mixed audience reactions and fluctuating collections after a record-breaking opening, discussions around expensive theatre snacks have gained momentum online. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) Directed by Buchi Babu Sana, Peddi opened to massive fanfare and crossed the 100 crore mark worldwide on its first day itself. The movie showed decent momentum during the opening weekend, but collections started dropping once the weekend was over, and despite the massive opening day, the film has grossed around 330 crores worldwide in 19 days so far, which is a kind of mixed result. As conversations around the film's performance intensified, social media users and cinema enthusiasts also began discussing the rising cost of watching movies in theatres. High popcorn and beverage prices have become a recurring complaint among Indian moviegoers, with many arguing that inflated food costs discourage repeat viewing, particularly for family audiences. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) Industry observers believe that reducing concession prices could help theatres improve audience retention, especially when films depend heavily on long theatrical runs rather than opening weekend collections alone. The debate gained further traction as Peddi attempted to sustain momentum by adding nearly six minutes of fresh footage during its third week in cinemas. The discussion surrounding popcorn pricing or even ticket prices reflects a broader issue facing the exhibition industry today: while big-budget spectacles continue to draw opening crowds, maintaining audience interest over several weeks increasingly depends on making the overall theatre experience more affordable and accessible. Akshay Kumar's Welcome To The Jungle CBFC Certificate and Official Theatrical Runtime Revealed

BY SUNIT JANGIR

Mumbai, June 22 - Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar's much-awaited comedy entertainer Welcome To The Jungle has completed its censor formalities ahead of release. The Ahmed Khan directorial has reportedly been cleared by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) with a U/A certificate after several modifications and cuts suggested by the board. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) According to reports, the CBFC asked the makers to implement a total of 18 changes before approving. Among the notable modifications were the removal of a Kashmir-related dialogue reference, toning down of certain suggestive bikini scenes featuring Disha Patani and Jacqueline Fernandez, and edits to abusive language, double-meaning dialogues, and a few violent visuals. The comedy entertainer was originally applied with 165 minutes runtime, and following the approved edits, the film's official theatrical runtime has been locked at approximately 2 hours, 44 minutes, and 50 seconds, making it one of the lengthier comedy entertainers in recent times, and one of the longest for Akshay Kumar. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) Welcome To The Jungle serves as the latest instalment in the popular Welcome franchise and boasts a massive ensemble cast led by Akshay Kumar. The film also stars Suniel Shetty, Paresh Rawal, Jacqueline Fernandez, Disha Patani, Arshad Warsi, Tusshar Kapoor, Shreyas Talpade, and several other actors in key roles. Directed by Ahmed Khan and backed by Firoz Nadiadwala, the film promises a blend of action, slapstick comedy, and franchise-style chaos on a grand scale. The movie is currently scheduled for a theatrical release on June 26, 2026. The trailer and promotional material have already generated strong buzz among audiences, particularly due to the return of the franchise's signature comic tone combined with an unusually large star cast.

The film recorded a blockbuster opening weekend worldwide, while also crossing the prestigious $1 million milestone in North America within the opening weekend of release. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) Backed by strong word-of-mouth and enthusiastic audience reception, the film witnessed packed houses across domestic and overseas markets. Akshay Kumar's Welcome To The Jungle Advance Booking Update Revealed, But No Confirmation For Paid Previews

BY SUNIT JANGIR

Mumbai, June 21 - After the back-to-back box office successes, Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar is gearing up for his next potential big hit, Welcome To The Jungle. The comedy entertainer is generating strong excitement ahead of its theatrical release, with the makers now planning a special paid preview strategy to boost early momentum at the box office. According to the Pinkvilla report, the film will have paid preview shows on June 25, one day before its official release on June 26, 2026. The strategy, though not a regular practice, has become increasingly popular in Bollywood, as it helps films create early word-of-mouth and build strong opening-day collections. Considering the popularity of the Welcome franchise, the paid previews could work in the film's favour. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) Paid Previews Strategy, But No Confirmation While there is nothing official from the makers yet, it is said that they are targeting family audiences and fans of mass entertainers through these preview shows. Positive audience reactions from the early screenings could significantly improve the film's opening weekend performance. The film marks the third instalment in the successful Welcome franchise and promises a complete package of comedy, action, confusion, and entertainment. Akshay Kumar's last release, Bhooth Bangla, also had previews, and it did very well in those by grossing over 4 crores and setting the stage for a successful theatrical run. The makers of Welcome 3 aim to replicate a similar trajectory, and if it manages to get a positive reception from paid shows, the movie has enough star power and franchise potential to make it a huge box office success. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) Advance Booking Update Meanwhile, the makers have officially confirmed that the full-fledged advance booking for Welcome To The Jungle is set to begin on Tuesday (June 23), 3 days ahead of the full-fledged theatrical release across major ticket-booking platforms. Even before the official bookings open, the film has witnessed impressive online interest, indicating strong anticipation among audiences. As per the latest trade projections, Welcome 3 is expected to take a very good start at the domestic box office. With paid previews, strong pre-release buzz, and a star-studded cast, the movie is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated Bollywood releases of 2026. All eyes are now on the booking response and whether the film can translate its online hype into massive box office numbers. Akshay headlines the film alongside a massive ensemble cast that includes Suniel Shetty, Paresh Rawal, Arshad Warsi, Jacqueline Fernandez, Disha Patani, Raveena Tandon, Lara Dutta, Johnny Lever, Rajpal Yadav, and several other actors. The trailer and promotional content have already created strong social media buzz, with fans particularly excited to see Akshay Kumar returning to the comedy genre on a large scale.

Pawan Kalyan's OG 2 To Undergo Major Creative Changes

BY SUNIT JANGIR

Hyderabad, June 22 - In a major update, powerstar Pawan Kalyan's much-awaited sequel They Call Him OG 2 has been confirmed and is likely to go on floors sooner than expected. The sequel was confirmed after the almost 300 crore worldwide success of the first film; however, the uncertainty over the second instalment was looming large due to PK's busy political schedules. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) According to the latest Telugu media reports, OG might start rolling by this year itself if all goes well; however, not before major production changes. Despite the impressive box office numbers, the film failed to meet the massive targets the makers had hoped for due to its high production and distribution costs. Now, reports indicate that OG 2 will be produced by Pawan Kalyan in association with People Media Factory, replacing the original production setup led by DVV Entertainments. The development is said to come after alleged disagreements between director Sujeeth and producer DVV Danayya over budget overruns during the making of OG. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) Reports claim that director Sujeeth had initially planned to begin work on OG 2 after completing Nani's Bloody Romeo. However, with delays surrounding the actor's The Paradise, the director is now reportedly expected to prioritise the sequel first. Interestingly, Pawan Kalyan is also said to be actively participating in script discussions for OG 2. The makers had earlier hinted at expanding the OG Universe with future sequels and prequels, and the actor's direct involvement could play a crucial role in shaping the franchise moving forward. With Pawan Kalyan potentially taking charge as producer, industry insiders believe the sequel could benefit from tighter creative control and smoother production planning. An official announcement regarding the complete cast, crew, and shooting schedule is expected soon.

Cocktail 2 Box Office: The Rom-Com Sequel Clocked A Good Weekend But Big Challenges Lie Ahead

BY SUNIT JANGIR

Mumbai, June 22 - Director Homi Adajania's Cocktail 2 has managed to deliver the kind of opening weekend Bollywood's rom-com genre has been desperately waiting for. Starring Shahid Kapoor, Kriti Sanon, and Rashmika Mandanna, the spiritual sequel opened well and continued to hold well across its first three days. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) Produced by Maddock Films and Luv Films, Cocktail 2 grossed an estimated 57 crores (47.50 crore net) over its 3-day opening weekend. The sequel showed healthy growth through Saturday and Sunday, indicating that audience reception is leaning towards the positive side. After a promising start on Friday, the film managed to build momentum over the weekend, which is always a crucial sign for urban multiplex-driven films. The weekend trajectory will come as a major relief for the makers, especially considering how difficult the theatrical market has become for Bollywood rom-coms in recent years. Positive word of mouth appears to be helping the film, with younger audiences responding well to the music, glamour, and relationship drama. The strong weekend growth suggests that the film has managed to click with its target audience, at least during the initial phase of its run. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) However, the real challenge for Cocktail 2 begins now as the film enters its crucial weekday period. The movie effectively has only one week of open run before Akshay Kumar's Welcome To The Jungle arrives in cinemas next week. That makes the Monday hold and weekday sustainability extremely important. A healthy trend through the weekdays could place the film in a comfortable position heading into its second weekend, but any major drop could quickly change the narrative. The situation becomes even more complicated because an unexpected box office rebound is currently happening in the form of Imtiaz Ali's Main Vaapas Aaunga. The period romantic drama appears to be staging a strong comeback after witnessing massive growth over its second weekend. Theatre reaction clips from the film are going viral across social media platforms, which is significantly boosting awareness and spreading word of mouth among family audiences. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) Despite the crowded release period, Main Vaapas Aaunga has managed to grab audience attention in a big way, and that could emerge as a genuine concern for Cocktail 2 over the coming days, as the former is completely aligning with every age group, while the sequel is mainly targeting the younger audiences. Both films are operating within the broader romantic drama space, and if the Imtiaz Ali directorial continues attracting family audiences in large numbers, it could impact the sequel's weekday and second-weekend business. For now, Cocktail 2 has done its job over the opening weekend with a solid 57 crore domestic gross and over 70 crores worldwide amid an encouraging audience response. But with competition intensifying and major releases arriving soon, the film now needs exceptional weekday stability to emerge as a clear box office success.

Yash's Toxic Confirmed To Release On August 26; To Clash With Shraddha Kapoor's Eetha

BY SUNIT JANGIR

Mumbai, June 21 - Kannada superstar Yash has officially announced the new release date of his much-awaited pan-India film Toxic: A Fairytale for Grown-Ups. Directed by Geethu Mohandas, the action drama is now slated to hit theatres worldwide on August 26, 2026, during the extended festive period. The announcement has created massive excitement among fans, especially after months of speculation surrounding the film's release schedule. Along with the date reveal, the makers also unveiled a striking new poster featuring Yash in an intense avatar, further increasing anticipation for the project. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) However, Toxic will not have a solo run at the box office. The film is locked to clash with Shraddha Kapoor's much-anticipated movie Eetha, which will arrive a couple of days later on August 28. The face-off between the two highly anticipated films is already generating buzz across social media and trade circles. Produced by KVN Productions and Monster Mind Creations, Toxic will release on Wednesday, which gives it a chance to maximise the long holiday period due to Raksha Bandhan, Varamahalakshmi, Onam, and Eid. The film marks Yash's return to the big screen after the blockbuster success of the KGF franchise. It is being mounted on a grand scale and is expected to feature high-octane action along with an emotionally driven narrative. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) Meanwhile, Eetha has also been gaining attention ever since its teaser surfaced online, after being attached to Cocktail 2 in theatres. Shraddha Kapoor's transformation for the role has particularly impressed audiences, making the upcoming box office battle even more interesting. With two major films arriving almost simultaneously, the August release window is shaping up to be one of the biggest cinematic clashes of the year.
