Dhamaal 4 Release Date Moves Up As Bollywood Makes Way For Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey For Solo Release

BY SACNILK

Mumbai, June 9 - Bollywood star Ajay Devgn's much-awaited comedy entertainer Dhamaal 4 is reportedly set for another release date change as Bollywood reshuffles its release calendar ahead of Christopher Nolan's highly anticipated epic The Odyssey. The move is aimed at avoiding a direct clash and ensuring that both films get sufficient breathing space at the box office. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) While an official announcement is still awaited, the development has already become a major talking point among trade circles. Dhamaal 4, directed by Indra Kumar and starring Ajay Devgn, Riteish Deshmukh, Arshad Warsi, Jaaved Jaaferi, and Sanjay Mishra, is now expected to release on July 10, 2026. The comedy sequel was previously scheduled to arrive on July 17, but the makers have reportedly decided to move it a week earlier to create room for The Odyssey, which is slated for a worldwide release on July 17. Christopher Nolan remains one of the most bankable filmmakers in India, with films such as Oppenheimer, Interstellar, and Dunkirk enjoying tremendous success among audiences. Given the enormous demand expected for The Odyssey, particularly across IMAX and premium-format screens, exhibitors are likely to prioritise it over other films. The advance booking for the same has already begun in IMAX, and as expected, the initial response is super solid. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) The revised strategy allows Dhamaal 4 to capitalise on its own theatrical window before the Hollywood spectacle takes over multiplexes. The decision reflects a growing trend within the industry, where producers are increasingly willing to adjust release plans to avoid major box-office clashes. If the new date is officially confirmed, Dhamaal 4 will benefit from a cleaner opening week, while The Odyssey will enjoy a solo release frame, setting the stage for two of the most anticipated films of the month to maximise their theatrical potential.

The Odyssey Advance Booking: Christopher Nolan's Epic Doubles Oppenheimer Records As Ticket Prices Soar

BY SACNILK

Christopher Nolan is back with his most ambitious project yet, titled The Odyssey. After the massive success of Oppenheimer, expectations were already sky-high, but the early buzz suggests we are looking at something even bigger. The film is being hailed as a grand-scale epic, and notably, it marks a significant milestone in cinema history as the first feature film shot entirely using IMAX cameras. This technical feat has piqued the interest of cinephiles worldwide, promising a visual experience that has never been attempted on this scale before. The story follows Odysseus, played by Matt Damon, on a grueling ten-year journey home after the Trojan War. He must navigate mythical trials involving figures like the cyclops Polyphemus and the sorceress Calypso, played by Charlize Theron, while his crew faces constant danger. The focus on survival and legendary scale, captured entirely on IMAX, is clearly the main driver behind the current ticket frenzy. The early presale response for The Odyssey has been exceptional in North America. According to industry tracking reports, the film has already sold around 150,000 tickets for its domestic opening weekend through its initial premium-format presales. For comparison, Christopher Nolan's Oppenheimer had sold approximately 65,000 tickets at a similar stage of its booking cycle in 2023. While these figures represent early premium-screening sales rather than full theatrical bookings, the comparison highlights the tremendous demand for Nolan's latest epic and underscores the strong anticipation surrounding its release. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) In India, the craze has reached a level that defies standard market trends. Bookings opened on June 8 for the IMAX version, and the demand was instantaneous. While average ticket prices across most Indian IMAX screens are hovering between 700 and 1,200 rupees depending on the timing, certain premium locations are pushing boundaries. For instance, a screen in Pune is reporting tickets for the evening show at a staggering 3,000 rupees. Despite these steep rates, shows are selling out within minutes, proving that the premium audience is willing to pay a high price for the best possible viewing experience. The ticket pricing across major cities reflects a strategic range based on theater location and luxury levels. In Mumbai, Inox Malad provides some of the most affordable entry points with morning shows starting at 450 rupees. However, premium locations like Cinepolis Seawoods are operating at the higher end, with evening tickets priced up to 2,000 rupees. This variation shows how theaters are balancing accessibility with the high demand for a premium experience. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) The Delhi-NCR market follows a similar pattern of tiered pricing. While PVR Priya offers standard seats starting at 450 rupees, the cost for recliner seating at the same venue climbs to 1,400 rupees. For those seeking the lowest possible rates, Inox Paras is currently the most economical choice in the capital region, offering early morning slots for as low as 370 rupees. These figures indicate that while the film is a major event, there are still options available for different budget segments across the country. It is interesting to observe the price disparity across different regions due to local regulations. In Chennai, the Tamil Nadu government cap keeps IMAX tickets at a relatively modest 508 rupees. This makes the southern market incredibly competitive, with tickets disappearing almost as soon as they go live. Meanwhile, in cities like Mumbai, we are seeing tickets for recliner rows listed as high as 3,200 rupees. The trend shows that for a technical spectacle like this, the Indian audience is increasingly prioritizing the format and the quality of the theater over the cost of the ticket. This momentum is not limited to India. In the United States, AMC has reported its biggest first-day ticket sales for a studio release since 2022. Achieving this more than a month before the actual release is a rare feat in the current box office climate. It suggests that The Odyssey is positioned to be a cultural moment similar to Interstellar or Inception. By sticking to an IMAX-exclusive strategy for the initial booking phase, the makers have successfully created a sense of urgency and exclusivity that is driving these record-breaking numbers across the globe.

Nolan's last release, Oppenheimer, emerged as a major success in India, particularly across IMAX screens, and exhibitors are expecting The Odyssey to deliver another event-level theatrical experience, as The Odyssey is said to be the first film in cinema history to be shot entirely on IMAX cameras. Christopher Nolan's Most Ambitious Film Yet (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) Based on Homer's timeless Greek epic, The Odyssey follows Odysseus on his perilous journey home after the Trojan War. The film stars Matt Damon in the lead role, alongside Tom Holland, Zendaya, Anne Hathaway, Robert Pattinson, Charlize Theron, and Lupita Nyong'o. The project is also notable for being the first feature film shot entirely using IMAX film cameras, showcasing brand-new technology developed specifically for the production. With bookings opening more than a month before release, The Odyssey is already shaping up to be one of the biggest movie events of 2026. James Cameron Hits Out At Christopher Nolan's Oscar-Winning Film 'Oppenheimer'; Here Is Why

BY SACNILK

Los Angeles, June 30 - Legendary Hollywood director James Cameron has hit out at acclaimed director Christopher Nolan for his 2023 epic biographical thriller Oppenheimer, which has been hailed as one of the best films of the 21st century. The movie is based on the life of J. Robert Oppenheimer, the American theoretical physicist who helped develop the first nuclear weapons during World War II. ## Oppenheimer was declared the best movie at the 96th Academy Awards, in which it won 7 Oscars, including Best Picture. Cameron, however, has criticised Nolan for not depicting the aftermath of the Hiroshima and Nagasaki nuclear bombing, which killed over 250,000 people. While Cameron acknowledged Nolan's filmmaking, he felt disappointed that Oppenheimer didn't depict the aftermath of the atomic bombing. ## During an interview with Deadline, the "Avatar" director said, "Yeah, it's interesting what he stayed away from. Look, I love the filmmaking, but I did feel that it was a bit of a moral cop-out. Because it's not like Oppenheimer didn't know the effects. He's got one brief scene in the film where we see — and I don't like to criticise another filmmaker's film – but there's only one brief moment where he sees some charred bodies in the audience, and then the film goes on to show how it deeply moved him. But I felt that it dodged the subject". ## Meanwhile, James Cameron himself is working on a film based on the Hiroshima bombing titled Ghosts of Hiroshima, which tells the story from those on the business end of the unimaginably destructive blasts that turned Japan into a hell-scape and killed hundreds of people and much more over time as the radiation ravaged the bodies of survivors. ## While Nolan's "Oppenheimer" grossed nearly $1 billion at the global box office, Cameron feels that "Ghosts of Hiroshima" could be his lowest-grossing film because of the subject matter, as he will be showing the aftermath of the atomic bombing. Cameron's film will be based on Charles Pellegrino's book Ghosts of Hiroshima, which comes out August 5 from Blackstone Publishing and The Story Factory. ## Interestingly, "Ghosts of Hiroshima" will be Cameron's first film other than the Avatar movies since "Titanic", which was released more than 2 and a half decades ago in 1997. The filmmaker will be directing this upcoming film between the next Avatar movies. His next release, "Avatar: Fire And Ash" (Avatar 3), will debut on December 19 this year. ## Stay tuned...

Mumbai, February 10 - Harvardhan Rane and Mawra Hocane's romantic drama Sanam Teri Kasam has emerged as a success story upon its re-release at the domestic box office after an excellent hold on Monday. It was a disaster in its original run 9 years ago, in 2016. ## Re-released amidst almost zero promotion at the start of Valentine's Day week on February 7, Sanam Teri Kasam stunned the trade with its opening weekend collection of approximately 15.50 crores net which is easily the biggest weekend for a Bollywood re-release title. ## On Monday, the film was outrightly the number one title at the Bollywood box office with approximately 3-3.25 crores net collection, beating the combined Monday total of Sky Force, Deva, Badass Ravikumar, and Loveyapa. With this, the total re-release collection of Sanam Teri Kasam after just 4 days is 18.50+ crores net which is more than double the film's lifetime original collection. ## The film will continue to score well throughout the Valentine's Day week as it might reach 27-30 crores net collection in the first week. There is Vicky Kaushal's Chhaava which is releasing on February 14 and is likely to open big at the box office, so needs to be seen how STK perform after that. ## Christopher Nolan's epic sci-fi adventure Interstellar, after scoring around 11 crores gross collection in its opening weekend, showed a fantastic hold on Monday to collect over 2 crores gross. In 4 days of re-release, the movie has earned approximately 13 crores gross (10.75+ crores net). ## Interstellar is in cinemas for a limited period of 7 days and it will look to reach 20 crores gross collection before bowing out and it will be a fantastic result for the film. ## Stay tuned...
