Aishwarya Rai Bachchan Resumes Shooting For Mani Ratnam's Ponniyin Selvan
Pondicherry, July 22, 2021: Filmmaker Mani Ratnam recently announced that his upcoming Tamil epic, Ponniyin Selvan will release in two parts. The first part will release in summer 2022. Ratnam has written, directed, and co-produced this magnum opus under his production studio Madras Talkies, along with Allirajah Subaskaran under the banner Lyca Productions.
Ponniyin Selvan, which is based on Kalki Krishnamurthy's five-book novel of the same name, has an ensemble of actors like Vikram, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Karthi, Trisha Krishnan, Prakash Raj, Jayaram, Jayam Ravi, and Aishwarya Lekshmi among others.
Meanwhile, after the lead actors in Jayam Ravi and Karthi joined the shoot in Pondicherry recently, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has also reportadly come into the sets to shoot for the film. The actress essays a dual role in the film as Nandhini and Mandakini Devi.
The book chronicles the story of the early days of Arulmozhivarman, one of the most powerful kings in the south, who went on to become the great Chola emperor Rajaraja Chola I. Ratnam had revealed that most of the shooting has been done and they are aiming for a theatrical release in 2022.
