Amazon Prime Video To Co-Produce Akshay Kumar's Ram Setu
One of the leading streaming platforms, Amazon Prime Video has decided to foray into film production in India. The streaming giant has joined Akshay Kumar starrer magnum opus Ram Setu as one of the producers along with Lyca Productions, Cape Of Good Films, and Abundantia Entertainment.
Amazon Prime Video also becomes the first OTT platform to venture into film production in India. Ram Setu is directed by Abhishek Sharma will soon go on floors in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh.
By the looks of it, Ram Setu is going to be a mega-budgeted film. Akshay Kumar is playing an archaeologist in the film that revolves around a mythical bridge that the god Rama is supposed to have built between ancient India and Sri Lanka in order to rescue his wife Sita from the demon Ravana.
The film also stars Jacqueline Fernandes and Nushrratt Bharuccha and will receive a theatrical release, with Cape of Good Films and Abundantia holding those rights, which will be followed by the global streaming exclusively on Amazon Prime Video.
