Box Office: Amitabh Bachchan's 'Jhund' First Week Collection

Mumbai, March 11 - Amitabh Bachchan's biographical-sports drama film, "Jhund", has had a decent opening week at the box office.

The film, based on the life of Vijay Barse, the founder of NGO Slum Soccer, has netted approx. Rs. 10.50 crores in the first week in India. The film struggled to take a big jump throughout the week, and end up with a decent total on board.

Over the opening weekend (Fri-Sun), "Jhund" scored a decent Rs. 6.50 crores. It dropped by nearly 64% on Monday for Rs. 1.03 crores, before taking a slight jump on Tuesday for Rs. 1.16 crores, and dropping again for Rs. 96 lakh on Wednesday. It closed the first week by scoring 85 lakh on Thursday for Rs. 10.50 crores full week.

Overseas, "Jhund" has managed to fetch Rs. 4.60 crores for the total worldwide cume gross of Rs. 17 crores. The budget for the film is approx. Rs. 20-25 crores, and it is clear that it will struggle to recover its cost as Prabhas's "Radhe Shyam" and "The Kashmir Files" will take most of the screens from this Friday onwards.

In the film, Amitabh Bachchan plays a professor who motivates the street children to form a football team. It also stars "Sairat" duo Akash Thosar and Rinku Rajguru in key roles.
