Gangubai Kathiawadi Shows A Remarkable Hold On Monday
Mumbai, February 28 - Alia Bhatt-fronted, "Gangubai Kathiawadi" is having a dream run at the Indian box office. After putting a big opening weekend, the biographical drama film passed all-important Monday day.
The early estimates of this Sanjay Leela Bhansali-directed have suggested Monday net collection to be in the range of Rs. 7.80 crores, a drop of 49% from Sunday.
Being a working day, the first Monday becomes crucial for a film's box office outcome. The early estimates of "Gangubai Kathiawadi" are remarkable, especially for a woman-centric film.
"Gangubai Kathiawadi" took a slow start in the morning on Monday but picked up after the matinee shows. As usual, Mumbai remains the best performing region with average occupancy between 40%-45% for the day, followed by Delhi U.P, and Gujarat.
The 4-day total of "Gangubai Kathiawadi" is likely to reach Rs. 46.32 crores net. Being a holiday on Tuesday due to Mahashiv Ratri, the biz is expected to take further boost as the 5-day total is expected to reach Rs. 55 crores net. The opening week collection may finish in the range of Rs. 65 crores.
The film, based on the book Mafia Queens of Mumbai by S. Hussain Zaidi, is on course to become the second clean Bollywood hit of the pandemic era, after "Sooryavanshi". Interestingly, both the movies feature Ajay Devgn in cameo roles.
