About This Movie

Kalki 2898 AD Kalki 2898 AD is a sci-fi epic set in a distant future where the world has descended into darkness and desolation. The powerful city of Kasi rules over a barren Earth, exploiting its people and hoarding what little remains of nature's resources. Amid this dystopian chaos, an ancient prophecy foretells the arrival of the tenth avatar of Lord Vishnu — Kalki — who will end the Kali Yuga and restore balance to the universe. The story follows Bhairava (Prabhas), a bounty hunter driven by greed and ambition, whose life takes a dramatic turn when he crosses paths with SUM-80 (Deepika Padukone), a mysterious woman carrying a divine child. Guided by the immortal warrior Ashwatthama (Amitabh Bachchan), Bhairava's journey transforms from one of self-interest to destiny as he becomes entwined in the cosmic struggle between good and evil. Blending ancient Indian mythology with futuristic sci-fi elements, Kalki 2898 AD explores faith, redemption, and destiny on an epic scale, culminating in the rise of a saviour who will reshape the fate of humanity.

Prabhas' Karna Portrayal in Kalki 2898 AD Sparks Fresh Debate; Director Nag Ashwin Responds to Critics

BY SACNILK

Hyderabad, July 14 - Director Nag Ashwin has broken his silence on the renewed debate surrounding Prabhas' portrayal of Karna in Kalki 2898 AD. The filmmaker responded after social media discussions reignited over the film's interpretation of the iconic Mahabharata character, with some users questioning the creative liberties taken in the sci-fi epic. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) The controversy gained momentum after a viral post criticised the film's depiction of Karna and claimed it strayed from the traditional narrative of the Mahabharata. As the discussion spread online, fans remained divided, with one section defending Nag Ashwin's unique vision while others argued that the characterisation conflicted with the original epic. Reacting to the criticism, Nag Ashwin made it clear that audiences should not judge the story based on the first instalment alone. The filmmaker said he knows exactly where the narrative is headed and urged viewers to wait for Kalki 2898 AD: Part 2 before forming conclusions. He also pointed out that there are multiple interpretations and translations of the Mahabharata, suggesting that his storytelling draws from a broader understanding of the epic rather than a single version. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) these are Sree Krishnas own words to arjuna in the drona vadha parva... pls read the Mahabharata...I suggest the bibek debroy version... The twist became one of the film's biggest talking points and continues to fuel discussions among fans. With Kalki Part 2 currently in development, Nag Ashwin has assured audiences that the complete context behind Karna's role will unfold in the next chapter, making it clear that the story is far from over.

Peddi has reached a significant milestone by officially crossing the 200 crore net mark in India at the end of its eleventh day. While this looks impressive on paper, the film is currently navigating a tricky path at the box office. For a project mounted on such a massive scale, the performance is leaning toward underperforming, especially as it struggles to maintain high-level momentum outside its core territories. As of Day 11, the total India net collection stands at 216.00 crore. The films trajectory on BookMyShow offers some interesting insights into its audience engagement. Since the era of hourly trending data began on the platform, Peddi has now moved up to become the 7th best-selling Telugu movie of all time. By reaching a total of 3.59 million tickets sold over its first eleven days, it has successfully overtaken the lifetime sales of Sankranthiki Vasthunam, which stood at 3.59 million. To give you a better sense of where the film stands among the biggest heavyweights at the end of their respective second weekends, here is the breakdown: (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) Top 5 Telugu Movies - BMS Ticket Sales RANKMOVIE NAMETICKETS SOLD (BMS)1Pushpa 220.21 M2Kalki 2898 AD13.14 M3Salaar7.17 M4Devara4.80 M5Hanuman4.72 M6Mana ShankaraVaraPrasad Garu3.82M6Peddi3.59M Moving into the critical Monday test, the early trends on BookMyShow give us a clear look at the current momentum. This follows a second weekend that saw a peak of 157,040 tickets on Sunday, after steady performances on Friday and Saturday. These morning numbers are a standard reflection of the weekday transition, showing a natural dip as the working week kicks off. In conclusion, Peddi has officially emerged as the number one highest-selling South Indian film of 2026. This milestone cements its position at the top of the yearly charts, reflecting its strong appeal across the regional markets. While its journey continues to be monitored through the weekdays, it currently stands as the definitive commercial leader for Tollywood this year so far.

Kalki 2 Release Date: Prabhas' Sci-Fi Sequel Eyes December 2027 Release

BY SACNILK

Hyderabad, May 8 - Superstar Prabhas' much-awaited sci-fi epic sequel Kalki 2 is gearing up to become one of the biggest Indian cinematic events of the decade. Directed by Nag Ashwin, the film will continue the futuristic mythological saga that began with the blockbuster Kalki 2898 AD, which was released in 2024. According to a report by Pinkvilla, the makers are currently targeting a grand theatrical release in December 2027. The report also states that major shooting portions featuring Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, and Sai Pallavi are expected to be completed by April 2027 before the film enters a lengthy post-production phase due to its extensive VFX work and massive scale. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) The sequel arrives with enormous expectations following the big success of Kalki 2898 AD. The first instalment ended on a dramatic cliffhanger and laid the foundation for a much larger battle involving Kamal Haasan's menacing character, Supreme Yaskin. Reports suggest that the second part will feature a more intense narrative with Prabhas taking centre stage in the conflict. Director Nag Ashwin is aiming to surpass the visual grandeur and storytelling scale of the first film. The makers are said to be designing bigger action sequences, deeper emotional arcs, and an even more expansive futuristic world for the sequel. The extended timeline is also linked to Prabhas' busy lineup of upcoming films. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) The superstar is simultaneously working on several major projects, including Spirit, and other big-budget pan-India ventures, making scheduling a key challenge for the production team. Released in 2024, Kalki 2898 AD emerged as one of Indian cinema's biggest blockbusters by grossing over 1000 crore worldwide. The film received widespread appreciation for blending mythology with dystopian science fiction on an unprecedented scale.

Dhurandhar 2 Records 11.33M BMS Ticket Sales in Week 1, Beating Jawan to Take the Second Spot Behind Pushpa 2

BY SACNILK

The landscape of Indian cinema is witnessing a tectonic shift as the 8-day extended week data for BookMyShow ticket sales reveals an unprecedented level of audience frenzy. We are no longer just looking at box office collections but at the sheer volume of humanity moving toward the big screens. In a market where crossing the 5 million ticket mark in a week is considered a massive achievement, the Ranveer Singh starrer Dhurandhar 2 The Revenge has effectively entered a stratosphere of its own by breaching the 11 million mark with ease, becoming the second-highest of all time. This massive volume of sales places the film firmly behind the monstrous 12.53 million tickets sold by Pushpa 2 The Rule. The gap between these two titans and the rest of the industry is becoming a significant talking point among the trade fraternity. For context, legendary runs like Jawan and Kalki 2898 AD, which were considered massive during their runs, now find themselves trailing behind this new era of dominance. Dhurandhar 2 is not just a success story; it is a total demolition of the previous theatrical footprints established by some of the biggest global blockbusters. While Pushpa 2 leads in volume with a staggering 725.8 crore net, Dhurandhar 2 shows a very high efficiency in revenue per ticket, clocking in 674.17 crore in its 8-day extended week. This highlights the massive demand in premium multiplexes where ticket pricing plays a major role. Even huge blockbusters like Jawan, which raked in 389.88 crore from 7.65 million tickets, now look modest in comparison to the sheer scale of the Dhurandhar 2 juggernaut. The trend shows that the audience is now gravitating toward event-scale cinema like never before. The fact that Dhurandhar 2 has managed to sell 11.33 million tickets despite a highly competitive market speaks volumes about the brand loyalty of the franchise. It has officially set a new gold standard for theatrical resilience. With the second weekend approaching, the momentum suggests that these ticket volumes will continue to swell, setting benchmarks that might remain untouched for years. All eyes are now on this unstoppable force to see if it can eventually rewrite the record books for lifetime footfalls in the history of Indian cinema..

Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge has unleashed an unprecedented storm at the global box office, solidifying its status as a certified juggernaut within just forty-eight hours of its release. The film is not merely performing; it is rewriting the record books by dominating key international markets and staging a massive comeback in the domestic circuit. After an explosive start, the film's second-day momentum has been described by trade analysts as mind-boggling, particularly in North America and the UK, where ticket sales are reaching levels rarely seen for Indian cinema. This global havoc is a testament to the massive screen count and the immense drawing power of the franchise, which has successfully captured the attention of both the Indian diaspora and local audiences abroad. According to the latest verified data from Comscore , Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge has amassed a staggering total of approximately ₹90.81 Crore ($10.9M+) in international territories over its first two days. In the United States alone, the film collected $4,944,541 (₹46.34 Cr), while Canada contributed another $2,000,268 (₹18.75 Cr), bringing the North American total past the $6.9 Million mark. The UK and Australia markets also showed exceptional strength, with collections of £927,577 (₹11.60 Cr) and A$1,485,736 (₹9.80 Cr) respectively. These figures place Dhurandhar 2 among the elite top three all-time overseas openers, nearly matching the early pace of RRR and comfortably outpacing recent blockbusters like Kalki 2898 AD and KGF Chapter 2. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) The most significant narrative of the film's box office journey lies in its extraordinary leap in the domestic India Net rankings. On its opening day, Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge stood at the fourth position in the all-time list, trailing behind the massive multi-language starts of Pushpa 2: The Rule, RRR, and KGF Chapter 2. However, the Day 2 performance witnessed a historic surge, with the film's cumulative India Net total reaching ₹226.27 Crore. By achieving this figure, Dhurandhar 2 has officially surpassed the two-day totals of Rajamouli's RRR (₹216.70 Cr) and Yash's KGF Chapter 2 (₹206.50 Cr), effectively jumping from the fourth spot to the second spot in the all-time India Net standings. Crucially, the regional dubbed versions of Dhurandhar 2 were delayed and only began their full-scale theatrical run starting today (Saturday). Had these versions been active from the opening show, the film likely would have bridged the gap to challenge the benchmark set by Pushpa 2.The revenge of Dhurandhar 2 on the charts, achieved primarily through its lead version, has sent shockwaves through the industry, signaling that a massive spike is imminent as the regional markets finally join the fray over the weekend. The film's ability to maintain high occupancy even on its second day—typically a period where non-event films see a sharp decline—highlights the strength of the positive word-of-mouth. In North America, the film is benefiting from a record 4,405 shows, which is allowing it to challenge the single-day records of legendary hits. As the weekend progresses, trade experts suggest that the Saturday and Sunday numbers might push the film even closer to the current all-time leaders, especially as the regional language versions in South India begin to see a predicted spike in footfalls. All-Time Top 5 Movies: 2-Day Overseas Gross Collection MOVIE NAME 2-DAY OVERSEAS COLLECTION Pushpa 2: The Rule ₹ 98.00 Cr Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge ₹ 90.81 Cr RRR ₹ 90.00 Cr Kalki 2898 AD ₹ 85.00 Cr KGF: Chapter 2 ₹ 46.00 Cr The global reception for Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge confirms that it is more than just a domestic success; it is a cultural phenomenon that has successfully bridge the gap between various regional audiences. With its 2-day overseas total surpassing ₹90 Crore, it has narrowly edged out RRR to secure the second spot in that category as well. This dual dominance in both India Net and Overseas Gross makes it one of the most balanced box office performers in the history of Indian cinema. With the Sunday estimates looking even stronger, Dhurandhar 2 can maintain this velocity and eventually challenge the lifetime milestones of the very benchmarks it is currently eclipsing.
