Mumbai, May 13 - Superstar Shah Rukh Khan's hugely anticipated action thriller King is getting bigger with each passing day, with its casting. The film will be directed by Siddharth Anand, who reunites with King Khan after the mega blockbuster Pathaan (2023). ## Recently, it was reported that Arshad Warsi joined the cast of King, and now, according to the latest report by Pinkvilla, veteran Anil Kapoor has also joined the film. He will reportedly play the role of SRK's mentor. "Shah Rukh Khan plays an assassin in King, Anil Kapoor will be seen as his handler", says the report.## "There were multiple actors considered for the part, but the team amicably feels that Anil Kapoor suits the role to the T. Anil Kapoor is also excited to collaborate with Shah Rukh Khan on this mega-budget actioner", the report further states.## The shoot of King will commence in Mumbai between the window of May 18 to May 20. The project has been making tremendous noise on social media for the last few days due to various reasons and now, the filmmaker has responded to those rumours. ## Recently, a report emerged that Deepika Padukone will reunite with Anand and SRK to play an extended cameo role. While the filmmaker didn't mention the report, he seemingly denied the casting of Deepika by calling it fake on Twitter/X. ## There was another rumour that the shooting of King would be delayed by a couple of months, and again, Anand debunked it and called it false. He then mentioned May 2025 in a separate post on X, reportedly confirming the commencement of filming as reported previously. ## Meanwhile, a new report has emerged that not Deepika Padukone, but Sonam Bajwa has been cast to play a key role. Directed by Siddharth Anand, the film emerged as a massive blockbuster, grossing over 1000 crores at the worldwide box office. ## Pathaan is a part of YRF's Spy Universe and its mega-success almost confirmed the sequel. A few months after the movie's release in January 2023, it was reported that producer Aditya Chopra was working on the script of Pathaan 2. Now, a new update has emerged regarding the same. ## According to the report by Peepingmoon.com, Aditya Chopra has locked the script of the sequel which is designed not only to carry forward Pathaan's story but also to lay the groundwork for larger conflicts in upcoming instalments of YRF's Spy Universe. It was due to the extensive planning and intricate storytelling that the scripting process took so long.## The script, written by Sridhar Raghavan and Abbas Tyrewala with Chopra, promises to surpass the first film in both scale and intensity. Aditya has also taken inputs from SRK for the Pathaan 2 script and the superstar is said to be super impressed with the way the sequel is heading. ## The director for the same is not locked yet. Reports suggest that Anand would not return to direct the sequel. There have been rumours that Ayan Mukerji, who is currently directing YRF's War 2 starring Hrithik Roshan and Jr. NTR, might take on the directorial duty of Pathaan 2 as well, but nothing has been confirmed yet. ## The shoot of Pathaan 2 will commence early next year after SRK completes filming of the action thriller King, to be directed by Sidharth Anand. Mumbai, September 13 - After the historic comeback in 2023 with three back-to-back big blockbusters, Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan is taking time before starting his next film, titled King which with director Sujoy Ghosh under production Red Chillies Entertainment and Marflix. ## King has been in the pre-production work for a while now and was supposed to go on floors by the end of this year. However, the makers are being extra careful before starting the shoot which has now been delayed to January 2026, according to the report by Pinkvilla. ## It is said that the first schedule of King will commence in Mumbai in January 2025, followed by a marathon schedule in Europe. The makers have done multiple rounds of recce in Europe to identify virgin locations that bring scale to the film. ## The film will be shot until August/September 2025 due to multiple changes in the locations. As reported earlier, the movie will miss a 2025 release which the makers were originally eyeing, and as per the latest report, it will now be hitting the big screen on Eid 2026. ## If the movie indeed makes it to the Eid 2026 slot, it will be Shah Rukh Khan's first film to release on this particular festival since Chennai Express (2013) which was a blockbuster. ## King is said to be an action thriller, unlike any other film Shah Rukh Khan has done so far.
