Krrish 4 Put on Back-Burner Over Budget Conflict: Hrithik Roshan's Directorial Debut Pushed to 2027

Development on the highly anticipated superhero sequel Krrish 4 has reportedly come to a standstill, with Bollywood Hungama confirming a significant budget disagreement between Hrithik Roshan and producer Aditya Chopra of Yash Raj Films. Despite the immense public demand for the franchise's return, the project has been placed on the back-burner as both parties remain unable to align on the film's financial scale. Consequently, the film will not go on floors in 2026 as originally envisioned, with the timeline now being pushed further into 2027. The central point of contention lies in the projected production costs for the superhero epic. Hrithik Roshan, who is set to make his directorial debut with this installment, envisions a massive scale with a budget close to Rs. 500 crores. In contrast, Aditya Chopra has reportedly advised an upper cap of Rs. 350 crores to ensure the film remains financially viable. Following multiple rounds of discussions, the creative and financial differences have led to a temporary halt in the collaboration under the YRF banner. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({})   In light of these budget restrictions, Hrithik Roshan is currently taking a practical approach by re-evaluating the script based on the feedback received. Sources indicate that the actor-director is also exploring potential collaborations with other major studios that might be willing to meet his vision's financial requirements. While the door remains open for a future reconciliation with Aditya Chopra, the current situation remains open-ended as Hrithik seeks the right balance between his ambitious narrative and the necessary funding. With Krrish 4 now delayed, Hrithik Roshan is expected to move forward with a different acting assignment in the interim. He has reportedly read several scripts and is close to green-lighting a new project, an announcement for which is expected in the near future. While fans will have to wait longer for the return of India's most celebrated superhero, the delay ensures that the eventual production of Krrish 4 will only proceed once the logistical and financial hurdles are fully resolved.

Alia Bhatt's Alpha Might Skip Theatres for Direct-to-OTT Release: Analyzing YRF's Strategic Pivot

The landscape of the Yash Raj Films (YRF) Spy Universe appears to be undergoing a major tactical shift as 2026 unfolds. Recent industry reports suggest that the highly anticipated female-led spy thriller, Alpha, starring Alia Bhatt and Sharvari Wagh, might bypass a traditional theatrical release in favor of a high-stakes direct-to-OTT premiere. This news comes as a surprise to fans who expected the film to be a massive cinematic event, but trade experts point toward a calculated move by Aditya Chopra to safeguard the franchise's future. The current strategic pivot appears rooted in a broader re-evaluation of solo female-led action films in the current theatrical market. The performance of Mardaani 3 served as a significant benchmark for gauging audience appetite for sheroes in the high-octane action space. However, the film's initial 4-day returns—netting ₹19.75 Cr in India and reaching a Worldwide total of ₹30.35 Cr (including ₹7.00 Cr from Overseas and an India Gross of ₹23.35 Cr)—suggest a challenging path for solo theatrical ventures. This data, coupled with ongoing production hurdles within the Spy Universe following War 2, indicates a shift toward a more cautious approach, placing Alpha under a period of strategic review. The release strategy for Alpha is currently a subject of significant trade observation. Following the recent box office trends for female-led action projects, reports have surfaced suggesting a potential shift from a traditional theatrical window to a direct-to-digital premiere. Such a move would allow the project to leverage high-value streaming partnerships, providing a secured revenue model in an increasingly volatile theatrical market. While production schedules within the YRF Spy Universe are frequently adjusted to align with broader franchise goals, the current focus remains on ensuring a massive global reach for Alia Bhatt's entry into the series. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({})   While a theatrical experience is usually the hallmark of the Spy Universe, this shift highlights a broader industry trend where even A-list projects are choosing the digital route to ensure profitability. If Alpha does indeed move to OTT, it will join a growing list of premium Bollywood films that found massive success by skipping the big screen. Direct-to-OTT Success Stories: Female-Led & Spy Thrillers 1. Darlings (2022) - Netflix: Record-Breaking Debut Alia Bhatt's digital premiere garnered over 10 million watching hours globally in its opening weekend—the highest for any non-English Indian original at the time. It trended in the Top 10 across 16+ countries. 2. Mission Majnu (2023) - Netflix: High-Viewership Hit This espionage thriller proved the digital potential of the genre, garnering over 19 million viewing hours shortly after its release, indicating massive audience pull without a theatrical window. 3. Jaane Jaan (2023) - Netflix: Global #1 Ranking A major hit that ranked as the #1 Indian film globally on the platform by view hours within its first few weeks, cementing the viability of female-led mystery thrillers on OTT. 4. Khufiya (2023) - Netflix: Critical & Commercial Success Tabu’s female-led spy drama bypassed theaters to become a viral success, praised for its realistic portrayal of intelligence operations and high global engagement. 5. Chakda 'Xpress (Upcoming) - Netflix: Anticipated Blockbuster Following the trend, this Anushka Sharma starrer is positioned as a major direct-to-digital event, skipping the box office to maximize global reach. While Yash Raj Films has yet to release an official statement regarding the release format of Alpha, the buzz in trade circles suggests that the theatrical-only mandate for the Spy Universe is being relaxed. As market dynamics shift, Alpha could become the first film in the YRF Spy Universe to test the waters of a digital-first strategy, potentially redefining how big-budget franchises operate in the future.

The third installment of the gritty crime-thriller franchise, Mardaani 3, has cleared the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) ahead of its theatrical debut. The film has been granted a UA 16+ certificate, indicating content suited for audiences aged 16 and above due to its intense themes. According to official certification details, the film has a total runtime of 130.37 minutes, which translates to 2 hours, 10 minutes, and 37 seconds. Rani Mukerji reprises her acclaimed role as Shivani Shivaji Roy, a fierce and dedicated police officer. The Mardaani franchise, produced by Aditya Chopra under the Yash Raj Films banner, established itself as a significant series in the crime-action genre with the release of the first film in 2014, followed by a successful sequel in 2019. While the first film tackled human trafficking and the second focused on a juvenile serial rapist, the third part is expected to follow Roy as she confronts a new, high-stakes criminal investigation. The Mardaani franchise has maintained a consistent commercial track record across its previous installments. The original Mardaani, produced on a budget of ₹20.00 crore, concluded its theatrical run as a Hit with an India net collection of ₹35.65 crore and a worldwide gross of ₹59.30 crore. The second installment achieved a worldwide total of ₹67 crore, supported by an India gross of ₹57 crore and an international collection of ₹10 crore. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({})   The film is helmed by director Abhiraj Minawala, who takes over the reins of the franchise following his work as an associate director on various major YRF blockbusters. The script and dialogues have been penned by Aayush Gupta, known for his work on The Railway Men, ensuring that the film stays true to its reputation for socially relevant and impactful storytelling. Though specific plot details have been kept confidential by the production house, buzz surrounding the project indicates a focus on complex organized crime or a contemporary socio-legal issue. The franchise is known for its strong antagonists, and while the identity of the villain in this installment has been guarded, it remains a central point of interest for the audience. Mardaani 3 is scheduled to hit cinemas on January 30, 2026. The film is positioned as a major solo release for Rani Mukerji, continuing her streak of performance-driven roles in the YRF spy and thriller universes. With the certification process complete, the production is expected to move into its final promotional phase leading up to the end-of-month release.

Pathaan 2: Shah Rukh Khan vs Jr NTR ;YRF plans massive casting coup for the sequel

The YRF Spy Universe seems to be gearing up for its biggest casting coup yet.If the latest whispers in the industry are to be believed, Shah Rukh Khan and Jr NTR might be sharing screen space very soon. According to strong reports doing the rounds, Yash Raj Films' head honcho Aditya Chopra has approached the Devara star for a pivotal role in the highly anticipated Pathaan 2. This development comes just months after Jr NTR's Hindi debut in War 2. Sources close to the production house reveal that discussions are currently in the advanced stages. While Jr NTR was already introduced into the Spy Universe as the anti-hero/Indian agent in the Hrithik Roshan starrer War 2 (released in August 2025), his journey was initially expected to continue in a standalone spin-off titled Agent Vikram. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) However, following the mixed box-office reception of War 2 and the reported shelving of the standalone project, Aditya Chopra has seemingly reworked the blueprint The idea is to now integrate Jr NTR's character directly into the universe's flagship franchise, Pathaan, to maximize the impact of his screen presence alongside King Khan. Pathaan 2 is currently in the advanced stages of pre-production, with the script reportedly locked earlier this year. The film is being conceptualized as a pivotal chapter that will eventually set the stage for the Spy Universe's Endgame. While specifics regarding the casting remain under wraps, insiders suggest that Jr NTR's inclusion will be far more substantial than a mere cameo. He is rumored to play a parallel lead or a formidable antagonist force who directly challenges Pathaan. If things go as planned, the shoot is expected to commence in early 2026, targeting a grand release in 2027. As of now, there is no official confirmation from YRF or the actors' teams. However, the buzz is undeniably strong, and given Aditya Chopra's history of casting surprises (like Salman in Pathaan and SRK in Tiger 3), this unlimited madness might just be a signature away from reality.

Pathaan is Back: Shah Rukh Khan's Sequel Confirmed, Production Timeline Updated

Following the monumental success of Pathaan, superstar Shah Rukh Khan is set to return as the iconic spy in a highly anticipated sequel. The confirmation has sent waves of excitement through the industry, with Pathaan 2 officially in the works as the eighth installment in Yash Raj Films' burgeoning Spy Universe. The sequel to the 2023 blockbuster, which shattered records to become the highest-grossing film in the YRF Spy Universe, has been greenlit by producer Aditya Chopra.Recent hints from Shah Rukh Khan himself at a Danube Properties event in Mumbai have solidified the news for eager fans. The script for the sequel has been finalized by a team including Aditya Chopra, Sridhar Raghavan, and Abbas Tyrewala, with reports suggesting that Shah Rukh Khan was thoroughly impressed by the ambitious narrative crafted for his character's return. The film is expected to surpass the first installment in both scale and intensity. Following a recent shift in the YRF Spy Universe schedule, filming for Pathaan 2 is now expected to commence in mid-2026. Pre-production is slated to begin in late 2025. Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone are confirmed to reprise their roles as Pathaan and Rubina Mohsin, respectively. However, the sequel will see a change in direction, as Siddharth Anand, who helmed the first film, will not be returning. The production house is currently in search of a new director to take the franchise forward. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) The production timeline for Pathaan 2 is intrinsically linked to other installments in the YRF Spy Universe, particularly the franchise's first female-led spy thriller, Alpha. The release for Alpha, starring Alia Bhatt and Sharvari, has been officially postponed from its original December 2025 date to April 17, 2026. This strategic delay is to allow for more extensive visual effects (VFX) work, ensuring a high-quality cinematic experience. Consequently, this pushes the start of filming for Pathaan 2 to after Alpha's theatrical release. The announcement comes at a time when audience expectations for the spy genre are at an all-time high. With a locked script and the original cast returning, the stage is set for Pathaan 2 to continue its record-breaking run and further solidify its place as a cornerstone of YRF's ambitious cinematic universe.

DDLJ:SRK and Kajol Unveil Statue to Mark 30 Years of the All Time Blockbuster;History Made in London

It was a moment of immense pride and nostalgia for Indian cinema in the heart of London today. To commemorate the 30th anniversary of the historic blockbuster Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (DDLJ), superstars Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol reunited to unveil a magnificent bronze statue of their iconic characters, Raj and Simran, at London’s bustling Leicester Square. Braving the characteristic London rain, the duo graced the event, bringing the magic of 1995 back to life for the thousands of fans gathered at the venue. This unveiling marks a significant milestone, as Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge has become the first ever Indian film to be honored with a statue in Leicester Square. The bronze installation joins the illustrious Scenes in the Square trail, placing Raj and Simran alongside Hollywood legends and cultural icons like Harry Potter, Batman, and Mary Poppins. The statue captures the timeless chemistry of the lead pair, immortalizing the romance that redefined Bollywood for generations. For those new to the phenomenon, the statue isn't just celebrating a movie; it is honoring a financial miracle that redefined the economics of Indian cinema. Released on October 20, 1995, the Aditya Chopra directorial was produced on a modest budget of just ₹4 Crore. Yet, it went on to wreak havoc at the ticket windows, delivering an India Net Collection of ₹53.32 Crore. Even more impressive was its global appeal; DDLJ was one of the first films to crack the international market wide open, earning ₹13.50 Crore overseas at a time when Bollywood's global footprint was minimal. In an era where the 100 Crore Club is a standard benchmark, DDLJ achieved the unthinkable three decades ago. With an India Gross of ₹89.00 Crore, the film's Worldwide Gross Collection stood at a staggering ₹102.50 Crore—a figure that was astronomical for 1995. With a Return on Investment (ROI) that remains enviable today, trade analysts officially declared it an ALL TIME BLOCKBUSTER, a verdict that stands unchallenged. Visibly moved by the honor, Shah Rukh Khan, looking dapper in a black ensemble, and Kajol, stunning in an elegant pastel saree, posed alongside their bronze counterparts. The event celebrates three decades of Aditya Chopra’s directorial debut, which not only shattered box office records upon its release in 1995 but continues to hold the record for the longest-running film in Indian cinema history. For the Indian diaspora in the UK, DDLJ has always held a special sentiment, given that a significant portion of the movie was set in London, making this tribute even more poetic. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) Beyond the cold hard numbers, the film's cultural impact is immeasurable. While the bronze statue now stands permanently in London, the film itself continues to breathe in Mumbai. DDLJ holds the world record for the longest-running film in cinema history, having played continuously at the Maratha Mandir theatre for over 30 years. As Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol posed with their bronze likenesses today, they didn't just celebrate a film; they celebrated a legacy that turned a ₹4 Crore investment into a timeless emotional asset for millions.

Shah Rukh Khan's Cameo Buzz As Pathaan Sparks Excitement For Alia Bhatt's Spy Universe Film Alpha

Mumbai, October 25 - The YRF Spy Universe continues to evolve, and the next chapter, Alpha, starring Alia Bhatt, Sharvari Wagh, and Bobby Deol, is shaping up to be bigger than expected after the latest cameo buzz of Shah Rukh Khan took the internet by storm. According to a report by Bollywood Hungama, producer Aditya Chopra of Yash Raj Films has approached Shah Rukh Khan to reprise his iconic role of Pathaan for a special cameo appearance in Alpha. It is said that this decision comes after the studio was reportedly taken aback by the poor result of War 2, which was released recently. In an effort to amplify the buzz and strengthen the cinematic continuity of the Spy Universe, Chopra is keen to bring back SRK's Pathaan to add star power and connect the dots between the existing characters. Chopra has reportedly designed a special cameo for SRK, which will lead to Pathaan 2, the next film in the Spy Universe after Alpha. However, Shah Rukh Khan has reportedly asked for some time before making a final decision. Interestingly, Alpha, which is scheduled to release on December 25, 2025, will also feature Hrithik Roshan in a cameo as agent Kabir, marking another major crossover moment for the franchise. If SRK comes on board, Alpha could become the most interconnected YRF Spy Universe, paving the way for an eventual ensemble crossover film. With Alia Bhatt leading the charge as the first female spy of the universe, and potential appearances by both Pathaan and Kabir, Alpha is already generating immense excitement among fans. Director Ayan Mukerji Sparks Fresh Buzz For Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt's Brahmastra Part 2

Mumbai, October 20 - After the box office debacle of Yash Raj Films' War 2, director Ayan Mukerji seems to have started work on Brahmastra Part 2 - Dev, which was supposed to be his next directorial after Part 1 in 2022. The filmmaker has shared a series of pictures which have sparked a fresh buzz for Part 2. On October 19, Ayan took to Instagram to share some pictures from what looks like a mountain getaway in Uttarakhand and captioned them as Pt. 2 with an Om emoji, which hints at the Brahmastra Part 2. Fans also spotted a blurry glimpse of the script of Brahmastra Part 2 in his pictures. The latest post by Ayan Mukerji has almost confirmed that Brahmastra 2 will be his next directorial, featuring Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt in the leading roles. With this, it has also been confirmed that he won't be directing YRF's Dhoom 4, which will reportedly be headlined by Ranbir Kapoor. Ayan was the first choice to helm the fourth instalment of the heist actioner, but the disastrous box office result of War 2 has made the makers rethink the strategy. According to Bollywood Hungama, "Ayan believes that films like War 2 and Dhoom 4 were never meant for him, and he wants to do something a lot wider with scope for romance, drama with spectacle vibes and storytelling". "Both Aditya Chopra and Ranbir Kapoor understood Ayan's point of view and have parted ways on the right note (on Dhoom 4). Ayan is now working on Brahmastra 2 and will take the film on floors in 2026. The writing work is concluded, and some polishing is going on during his stay in the Himalayas", says the report. Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol's Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge: 30 Years of Romance, Culture, and Legacy

Mumbai, October 20 — Three decades ago, on this very day in 1995, a young filmmaker named Aditya Chopra changed the course of Indian cinema with his directorial debut Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge. Starring Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol, the film wasn't just another romantic drama; it became an emotion, a cultural milestone, and a cinematic legacy that continues to live in the hearts of millions around the world, not just in India. DDLJ brought with it a refreshing take on love and family values. It told the story of Raj (SRK) and Simran (Kajol), two young Indians raised abroad who fall in love on a European trip, only to find their bond tested by tradition and parental expectations. In an era when Bollywood romances often rebelled against family authority, DDLJ stood out because it embraced it, which the audience loved and resonated with. Indian Cinema Prepares For Its Most Ambitious Line-up Yet With Ramayana, Varanasi, King, and More Aditya Chopra's vision struck a delicate balance — celebrating youthful passion while respecting the sanctity of family and culture. That combination gave Indian audiences something deeply familiar yet beautifully modern. The film's setting, moving from the train rides across Europe to the mustard fields of Punjab, gave it an expansive visual appeal. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) Cinematographer Manmohan Singh's lens captured a fairytale world that felt both aspirational and comforting. It was a love story that spoke not just to Indians at home, but also to the diaspora who longed for a connection to their roots. Jatin-Lalit's timeless music, Anand Bakshi's poetic lyrics, and the unforgettable voices of Lata Mangeshkar, Kumar Sanu, and Udit Narayan. Songs like "Tujhe Dekha To," "Mehndi Laga Ke Rakhna," and "Ruk Ja O Dil Deewane" became anthems of love and celebration. Even today, they play at weddings, bringing generations together in nostalgia and joy. Aneet Padda's Shakti Shalini To Be The Most Important Film of MHCU, Amar Kaushik Reveals Reason But perhaps what made DDLJ truly iconic was the chemistry between Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol. Their charm, innocence, and authenticity transformed Raj and Simran into symbols of ideal love. Shah Rukh's playful confidence and Kajol's grace created moments that felt effortlessly real — from the laughter of the Europe trip to the emotional intensity of the film's climax. The final train scene, with Raj's outstretched hand and Simran's desperate run, remains one of Indian cinema's most unforgettable moments. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) As DDLJ turns 30, it holds a record few films can claim. The movie continues to run at Mumbai's Maratha Mandir theatre, maintaining its status as the longest-running film in Indian history. For many, watching it there isn't just about nostalgia — it's a ritual, a connection to a simpler, more romantic era of Bollywood. Ideas of love, freedom, and family have evolved, and today's romances often explore different kinds of relationships. Yet, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge endures because its heart remains pure. It speaks of love that is patient, love that seeks acceptance, and love that triumphs through respect and understanding. It wasn't just a film; it was a moment in time that defined how a generation dreamed of love. Kartik Aaryan, Ananya Pandey's Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri Teaser Sets Viewership Record For A Rom-Com Three decades later, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge stands not merely as a classic but as a cultural phenomenon that redefined Bollywood romance. It gave us a new definition of love — one that bridges continents, generations, and emotions. As audiences revisit Raj and Simran's journey today, they're not just watching a film; they're reliving a feeling — one that reminds us that no matter how much the world changes, love, at its purest, never goes out of style. Mumbai, October 5 - After the memorable debut with director Mohit Suri's Saiyaara, actor Ahaan Pandey has reportedly teamed up with Ali Abbas Zafar for his next, which is said to be a romantic actioner. The movie will be produced by Yash Raj Films, which also backed the actor's blockbuster debut. According to the latest reports, talented actress Sharvari Wagh has been finalised to play the female lead role opposite Pandey, marking another fresh on-screen pairing. Sharvari is managed by the YRF talent agency, and this marks her third lead project with the studio after Bunty Aur Babli 2 (debut film) and the upcoming spy actioner Alpha.
