Mumbai, July 5, 2021: Bollywood's love affair with remakes is not hidden from audiences. The largest film industry in the country, Bollywood has mastered adapting films from different languages - be it regional or international, and also able to give them a Bollywood touch to lure the Hindi audiences. ## In the last one and a half-decade, Bollywood stars have done films like Ghajini, Gabbar Is Back, Force, Singham, Shubh Mangal Saavdhan, Simmba, Son of Sardaar, Wanted, Rowdy Rathore, Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani, Kabir Singh, and Baaghi, which all are remakes of Tamil and Telugu films but proved to be some of the highest grosser of its respective release years. ## Even though the Hindi filmmakers have often been criticized for the lack of fresh ideas, they continued to acquire the Hindi remakes of other languages. And it looks like they have no plan to stop adapting good films into Hindi anytime soon, even though the audience likly to invest in fresh content as the covid-19 pandemic might have made them more opinionated than before. ## Well, opinion aside, Bollywood filmmakers still believe that the Hindi audience's interest in the remake hasn't waned yet and they will watch whenever they get a chance. It is a remake of the 2019 Telugu movie of the same name starring Nani in the lead role. Ajay Devgn is also doing the Hindi version of the 2019 Tamil action thriller film, Kaithi. Ajay in association with Dil Raju also acquired the remake rights of the 2021 Telugu hit, Naandhi. ## Recently, it was revealed that Akshay Kumar's next film with Bell Bottom makers is the remake of the 2018 Tamil psychological crime thriller film, Ratsasan. Last year, John Abraham had bought the rights to the 2020 Malayalam thriller film Ayyappanum Koshiyum, in which he will also be starring alongside Abhishek Bachchan. ## Acclaimed filmmaker, S Shankar announced that he will be remaking his own 2005 Tamil film, Anniyan in Hindi with Ranveer Singh playing the lead role. The film will mark Shankar's return to Hindi films twenty years after his only Hindi directorial, Nayak (2001) that starred Anil Kapoor in the lead. Kabir Singh producer Murad Khetani of Cine1 Studios along with Endemol Shine India, and 7 Screen Studio also bought the remake rights of the 2021's biggest hit Tamil film, Master, starring Thalapathy Vijay and Vijay Sethupathy. Salman Khan is said to be starring the Hindi remake. ## There are some reports claiming that Salman Khan has bought the Hindi remake rights of Ravi Teja's upcoming film, Khiladi. Boney Kapoor is remaking the 2021 Malayalam political thriller, One along with 'Helen' with his daughter Janhavi Kapoor in the lead, followed by the 2019 Tamil film 'Comali' with his son Arjun Kapoor. ## The time and cinema viewing might have changed for others, it is still hasn't changed much for Hindi filmmakers when it comes to remakes. Mumbai, June 24, 2021: Actress Kiara Advani is one of the busiest actresses at the moment. The Kabir Singh actress has been doing some of the fantastic films off late. Currently, she has four films in the pipeline. While her Shershaah with Sidharth Malhorta is completed, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, Jug Jugg Jeeyo, and Mr. Lele are under production. ## Now, it is learnt that Kiara has been roped in to play the female lead in Ram Charan's next Pan India film with director Shankar Shanmugam. According to Pinkvilla, Kiara has signed a multi-film deal with Shankar including RC15 and Anniyan Hindi remake starring Ranveer Singh. ## It is said that Kiara will be a part of both - RC15 and Anniyan remake. It will be the second time when Kiara will share screen space with Ram Charan while Anniyan Hindi remake will mark her first movie with Ranveer Singh. The character details and shoot schedules have been kept under wraps, however, the Shankar film Ranveer Singh will go on floors sometime next year, only once the work on RC 15 is concluded. ## Apart from these two films, the actress might also star in Shankar's 3rd film. However, the report suggests that it's not known if that too will be helmed by Shankar or just produced by him. While the first two will happen in a quick span, the third one might take some time to roll out. ## Meanwhile, according to reports, RC15 will be a historical drama film. It will be Ram Charan's first movie after the period action film, RRR that is scheduled to release worldwide on October 13 this year. RC15 will also have a grand pan India release in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu languages. It will be produced by Dil Raju and Shirish under the production banner Sri Venkateswara Creations. ## On the other hand, Ranveer's film is the official Hindi adaptation of Shankar's own directorial 2005 Tamil psychological action thriller, "Anniyan" starring Chiyaan Vikram. The movie, amid the speculations of direct OTT release, has been slated for July 27 release. The announcement is welcomed by theaters and exhibitors, who believe that Bell Bottom will pave the way for others to bring the audiences to theaters. ## Now, Jayantilal Gada of PEN Studios, who recently acquired the theatrical rights of SS Rajamouli's magnum opus, RRR, has also decided to bring Bell Bottom along with Gangubai Kathiawadi, Attack, and director Shankar's Anniyan Hindi remake, in theaters. This announcement has also put a full stop to speculations of Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Gangubai Kathiawadi's direct OTT release. ## Gangubai Kathiawadi is a biographical crime drama film, loosely based on a true story, on the book Mafia Queens of Mumbai written by S. Hussain Zaidi. The film depicts the rise of a simple girl from Kathiawad who had no choice but to embrace the ways of destiny and swing it in her favour. It stars Alia Bhatt in the lead role, along with Vijay Raaz, Indira Tiwari, and Seema Pahwa playing Pivotal roles, Ajay Devgn and Emraan Hashmi featured in an extended cameo appearance. As of now, the movie is slated for July 30, 2021, release. ## Attack is an action thriller film directed and co-written by Lakshya Raj Anand. It stars John Abraham, Jacqueline Fernandez, and Rakul Preet Singh in the lead roles. Produced by Jayantilal Gada, John Abraham, and Ajay Kapoor, the story of Attack is inspired by true events, based on the hostage crisis. It is scheduled for release on 13 August 2021. ## The period action drama film, RRR, is an ambitious project of director SS Rajamouli, after his historical blockbuster Baahubali films starring Prabhas. RRR is a fictional story about India's freedom fighters, Alluri Sitarama Raju, and Komaram Bheem who fought against the British Raj and Nizam of Hyderabad respectively. Ram Charan and Jr. NTR essay the roles of Sitarama Raju, and Komaram Bheem respectively while Alia Bhatt Ajay Devgn, and British actress Olivia Morris play pivotal roles. Produced by D. V. V. Danayya, RRR will be distributed by Lyca Productions in Tamil Nadu, and Pen Studios in North India. It is slated to release on October 13 in multiple languages. ## Dr. Jayantilal Gada will also be producing the Hindi remake of Shankar's own directorial 2005 Tamil psychological action thriller, "Anniyan" starring Chiyaan Vikram. Aascar V Ravichandran, who produced the original "Anniyan", has asked Shankar to stop immediately further proceedings as he is the sole owner of the entire story rights. ## "I'm utterly shocked to know that you are likly to undertake the direction of a Hindi film by adopting the story of the movie Anniyan. You are well aware of the fact that I am the producer of the said movie Anniyan. The entire story rights were purchased by me from the writer Sujatha (alias late Rangarajan) for which the full payment was done by me to him and necessary records are also available. I am the whole and sole owner of the rights of the storyline. As such, any such adoption or remaking or copying the main plot of the said movie, without my permission, is totally illegal", the statement, shared by the producer, read. ## Ravichandran also reminded Shankar when the Robot director was under severe stress due to the failure of "BOYS", he was the one who still provided Shankar, the opportunity to direct "Anniyan", after which he regained his lost ground. He further said that despite knowing everything, how can he try to reap the accolades of his successful movie, "Anniyan", by associating himself with the Hindi remake of the same film. ## He concluded his statement by saying that "you are hereby advised to immediately stop preceding any further on the same, due to the illegal copying of the story for which the entire rights are held by me. Shankar aims to take Anniyan to another level altogether with the help of modern VFX and state-of-the-art technology and it is the project Shankar and his team have been planning to put together for a long time now. ## The film will mark Shankar's return to Hindi films twenty years after his only Hindi directorial, Nayak (2001) that starred Anil Kapoor in the lead. Interestingly, that film was also the remake of his own Tamil political drama, Mudhalvan (1999). ## Meanwhile, Ranveer Singh is currently filming for the Rohit Shetty adaptation of Shakespeare's Comedy Of The Errors "Cirkus" in Hyderabad, and will then head to Karan Johar's next directorial which is a relationship drama co-starring Alia Bhatt. He is expected to do one more film before starting Shankar's film. The actor's "83" and "Jayeshbhai Jordaar" are ready to release. ## On the other hand, Shankar also has "Indian 2", with Kamal Hassan reprising his role from the 1996 film, in the works. The film is currently on hold as Hassan awaits the results of the Tamil Nadu state elections which he and his party are contesting.
