Nani's Most Expensive Film 'Dasara' Theatrical Rights Sold For Record Price

Hyderabad, September 13 - Natural star Nani is shooting for his period action drama film Dasara, which is touted to be the most expensive film of his career. ## Directed by Srikanth Odela, "Dasara" is set against the backdrop of Telangana and Nani took the film as a challenge as he is playing an out-and-out rugged character. He is also mouthing dialogues in a Telangana accent for the first time.## "Dasara" is undoubtedly one of the most-anticipated Telugu films and it is already fetched huge offers from exhibitors for its theatrical and non-theatrical rights. Prabhas' Romantic Actioner 'Varsham' To Re-Release On His Birthday?

Hyderabad, September 10 - Superstar Prabhas' 2004 romantic actioner Varsham is getting ready for re-release with remastered version. The movie, directed by Sobhan, will most likely to re-release on Prabhas birthday on October 23 or a day before. ## Produced by M.S. Raju under the banner of Sumanth Art Productions banner, Varsham was the third highest-grossing Telugu film of 2004. It also starred Trisha Krishnan, and Gopichand along with Prakash Raj and Chandra Mohan, among others. The music was composed by Devi Sri Prasad. ## Varsham was remade in multiple other languages, including Hindi as "Baaghi", starring Tiger Shroff and Shraddha Kapoor. The Hindi version also became a huge hit and paved the way for two more films in the franchise. Vijay Deverakonda To Do A Fantasy Film With Producer Dil Raju?

Hyderabad, September 10 - Vijay Deverakonda, whose much-hyped sports action drama film Liger bombed at the box office, has resumed the shoot of Shiva Nirvana's romantic comedy Kushi, co-starring Samantha Ruth Prabhu. He was also doing JGM with director Puri Jagnnadh, but that movie has reportedly been put on hold. ## Meanwhile, according to the latest reports, Vijay Deverakonda is in talks with producer Dil Raju for a fantasy film. It is said that the producer had planned a fantasy film with VD in the direction of Indraganti Mohan Krishna a couple of years ago. ## Mohan Krishna's last film was Nani-starrer "V", which was released directly on the OTT platform. Dil Raju was reportedly so optimistic that Indraganti would deliver a massive hit with Nani's film, however, the movie did receive poor reviews and was a digital flop. ## Dil Raju is now looking to revive the film with some other directors and he is reportedly in consultations with VD to work on further plans. Los Angeles, September 7 - The maverick Indian filmmaker, SS Rajamouli is making his way to his first-ever US festival. The filmmaker will be hosted by Los Angeles' Beyond Festival, which has announced today the presence of RRR filmmaker as part of a special Tollywood programming, "From Tollywood to Hollywood". ## Built-in partnership with the American Cinematheque, the special programming will honor the revolutionary Indian director, featuring Rajamouli's multiple films presented in their native Telugu language with English subtitles, including Baahubali: The Beginning, Baahubali 2: The Conclusion, Eega, Maryada Ramanna, and Magadheera. ## According to the Los Angeles Times, the first-ever official US festival visit of Rajamouli could also kick-start "RRR's" Oscars campaign, which has been hyped heavily by the Hollywood media. Powerstar Pawan Kalyan's Film With Director Surender Reddy To Start Next Year!

'Liger' Distributor Backs The Movie Despite Heavy Losses

Hyderabad, September 5 - Vijay Deverakonda's sports action drama film, Liger has tanked at the box office. This resulted in heavy losses to the distributors who bought the movie at high prices. The Puri Jagannadh-directed film was made on a big budget and was expected to do well at the box office, but that didn't happen. ## "Liger" opened to disastrous reviews from critics who slammed the movie left, right, and center, as if the movie didn't deserve to exist. Because of the critics' reviews, the movie couldn't gather any momentum after the opening day and ended up with just a 20% recovery of total investment. ## With such a poor response to the movie, it would be fair to assume that the distributors across languages are upset with the makers. Box Office: Pawan Kalyan's 'Jalsa' Re-Release Worldwide Collection

Hyderabad, September 3 - Telugu superstar Pawan Kalyan's all-time blockbuster Jalsa returned to the big screen to celebrate his birthday. The special shows of Trivikram Srinivas-directed action comedy were arranged across Telugu states and international locations on September 1 and 2.## "Jalsa" was re-released on over 500 shows worldwide, which is an all-time record for an Indian movie as far as the special shows are concerned. The movie also did exceptionally well at the box office and brought in higher numbers than most of the new releases opening day numbers. ## The movie collected approx. 2.60 crores gross in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana states, including approx. 1.26 crores from the Nizam area while the rest of India's collection of the movie is around 20 lakhs. These are all-time record collections for an Indian movie's re-release for one-day. Hyderabad, September 2 - The disastrous box office performance of Liger has shocked Vijay Deverakonda and director Puri Jagannadh that they have reportedly decided to make necessary changes in the script of their second collaboration JGM. ## According to the reports, the actor-director duo is revisiting and working on the script for JGM, before embarking on the Morocco schedule later this year. It is said that they are also considering the budget of the movie and want to keep it in check, unlike "Liger" which cost over 100 crores. A lot of changes are likely to happen in the script.## Meanwhile, in other news, it has been reported that after the huge failure of "Liger", Puri Jagannadh has shelved "JGM" for now and is looking to work on "iSmart Shankar 2". However, this is not true as JGM is very much happening and the shoot was already started earlier this year. There are also no confirmed reports about the "iSmart Shankar" sequel. ## Vijay Deverakonda will soon resume the shooting of the romantic-comedy "Kushi", co-starring Samantha Ruth Prabhu. Directed by Shiva Nirvana and produced by Mythri Movie Makers, the movie is scheduled to release on Christmas this year. After wrapping up "Kushi", VD will resume "JGM". ## Puri Jagannadh, in a recent interview, revealed that he first offered "JGM" to superstar Mahesh Babu nearly a decade ago, but things didn't materialize back then and it was put on hold before it got revived with VD. Tollywood Re-Introduces 8-Week Theatrical Window For All The Movies

Hyderabad, September 1 - The Tollywood film industry has re-introduced an 8-week theatrical window for all the films, releasing after September 10th. The decision was taken by the Telugu Film Chamber of Commerce after multiple meetings over the last couple of weeks. ## The Telugu film chamber also announced in a statement that a film's satellite and streaming partner will not be mentioned in the film titles/theatrical release publicity. ## It has been observed that filmmakers revealed their films' satellite and OTT partners before the start of the film in theaters, which may have tempted moviegoers to wait for the OTT release of the film which was within 28 days of theatrical release till now. ## The film chamber has also decided to cancel the per-day payment system for the artists/technicians from September 10th. All artists' remuneration shall include - staff, local transport, local accommodation, special food, etc. ## Meanwhile, the film chamber hasn't reached any conclusion regarding the VPF charges despite multiple meetings. Hyderabad, September 1 - Director Puri Jagannadh's long-awaited film Liger, starring Vijay Deverakonda, has proved to be a costly affair for the entire team as he turned out to be a massive disappointment at the box office. ## The sports action drama film was expected to bring a lot of money to the producers and distributors, but things didn't go as per the makers' wish as the distributors will face, at least, a 70% loss from the total investment of around 90 crores worldwide. It is reported that the distributors are in big shock as they invested a lot of money in the hope that it will give them the best return, which is not going to happen. ## However, in a gloomy time for the distributors, director Puri Jagannadh is once again coming to their rescue and taking full responsibility for the film's failure. Box Office: Blockbuster Karthikeya 2 Tops 100 Crores Gross Worldwide

Hyderabad, August 31 - Actor Nikhil Siddhartha's mystery action-adventure film Karthikeya 2 has entered the coveted 100 crores gross club at the worldwide box office with today's collection, becomes only the 4th Telugu movie of 2022 to achieve the milestone after Bheemla Nayan, Sarkaru Vaari Paata, and RRR. ## Directed by Chandoo Mondeti, "Karthikeya 2" has had trouble getting released in theaters but it overcame all the challenges to become one of the biggest blockbusters in Telugu cinema. Vijay Deverakonda's 'Liger' Fails Badly To Do Justice To The Massive Hype

Mumbai, August 30 - Vijay Deverakonda had a chance to include himself in the elite league of Telugu stars and could have extended Tollywood's dominance at the box office with his sports action drama, Liger, but things turned out otherwise. ## The Puri Jagannadh-directed film was one of the most hyped Indian films of 2022 and it could have made big even with the mixed reception, but Alas!... it opened to one of the poorest responses in 2022 from audiences and critics which dismissed its chance to score big on the opening day itself. ## "Liger" took the biggest opening for Vijay Deverakonda's film, but from the second day onwards, the movie crashed badly and couldn't grow further, even on Sunday. SSMB28: Mahesh Babu To Commence The Shooting Of Trivikram's Film From September 8

Hyderabad, August 30 - Superstar Mahesh Babu reunites with blockbuster director Trivikram Srinivas for his next film, tentatively titled SSMB28. The movie has Pooja Hegde in the female lead role and this marks her second film with Babu after Maharshi. ## "SSMB28" has been in the pre-production work for quite some time now and was supposed to kickstart the filming in August 2022. However, due to the pause of Telugu films to discuss various issues, the movie couldn't go on the floors as scheduled.## According to the latest reports, the makers are finally ready to take the movie on the ground and start shooting on September 8, 2022. Mahesh Babu will reportedly be a part of the first 25-day schedule of an action sequence in Ramoji Film City. Pooja Hegde will not be a part of the first schedule and will join the team in either October or November. ## It is said that Mahesh Babu has asked Trivikram to complete the shoot of the film as soon as possible as he has his next film with SS Rajamouli which is being planned to start filming early next year.
