Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra's 'Karna' To Be Made In Two-Parts

Mumbai, September 14 - Last year, it was reported that filmmaker Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra has been working on a mythological epic based on Mahabharat's key character Karna. The director reportedly had approached Shahid Kapoor to play this iconic role, however, things seem to have changed since then. ## According to Peepingmoon.com, Shahid Kapoor has backed out from this magnum opus, and now, the makers are looking for new actors to play Karna. It is also revealed that the movie will be split into two parts and Mehra is writing this film along with veteran author Anand Neelakantan accordingly. ## "The subject and characters are so vast and complicated that he (Rakeysh Mehra) believes one film can not justify Karna's story. Baahubali, KGF, and Pushpa's success have further boosted the maker's confidence to experiment with a multi-part format", read the report. ## Meanwhile, this mega project will now reportedly be produced by Farhan Akhtar under his banner Excel Entertainment. It was earlier supposed to be produced by Ronnie Screwvala's RSVP Movies. "The makers are contemplating a big star to headline this project, and while they have pitched the film to 2-3 Bollywood stars, no one has come on board as yet". ## "Karna" is touted to be the ambitious project of Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, which will be a big-screen spectacle to be made on a 200-crore budget. It will be told from the point of view of the spiritual son of Surya and a loyal friend of Duryodhana. The first part of this epic is expected to go on floors by mid-2023. ## Stay tuned...

Brahmastra First Tuesday Early Estimates; Maintains Decent Hold

Mumbai, September 13 - Brahmastra has once again shown decent hold on the first Tuesday of its box office run as the early estimate collections suggest 13-14 crores net in all the versions. The first Tuesday collections will push the entire box office collections of Brahmastra to over 154cr net mark which is a huge number and only a few films have gone over 150cr net in the first five days of the release.## The hold is good but a stronger hold would have made the chance of hitting the 175cr net mark in the first week comfortably which now looks like a stiff task. The bigger centers continue to collect well while the tier2 and tier2 cities have seen huge drops which were expected as the film is for the major city audience. Brahmastra has collected 1.10cr as per the early estimate in the Tamil+Telugu version. The dubbed version collections will set a new record.## The second Friday is very important for Brahmastra and the film should collect well to stay in the race of 250cr lifetime collections. The good thing about the film is that it has got a free run for some weeks and the next major release will be Vikram Vedha on 30th September and till then the film should see good footfalls.## Here are early estimates of Brahmastra Part One: Shiva for the first Tuesday.## Hindi: 12.00 Cr## Telugu+Tamil: 1.10 Cr## India Gross: 15.40 Cr## Stay tuned...

Now, according to the latest reports, producer Firoz Nadiadwala is also separately working on Mahabharta for feature film adaptation. ## Mahabharta has always been in the media headlines as many filmmakers have tried to adapt it for the big screen, however, it could never get off the ground. According to Bollywood Hungama, producer Firoz Nadiadwala, who has produced films like Hera Pheri and Welcome, has finally decided to make a film on Mahabharta.## The report says that the producer has started work on Mahabharat and aims to make it the most visually stunning film ever in Indian cinema. The post-production will take a couple of years more and reportedly, it will go on floors by 2025. The report further said that the budget for the movie is expected to be more than Rs. 700 crores.## It is said that the "Mahabharta" movie will be the first Indian film to be shot in 5D! Shah Rukh Khan Fans Start Campaign To Force Dharma Productions To Spin-Off His Character From 'Brahmastra Part One: Shiva'

Mumbai, September 13 - The fans of Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan have started a campaign to force Dharma Productions and director Ayan Mukerji to spin off his character, Mohan Bhargav from Brahmatra Part One: Shiva, which has been released in theaters and roaring at the box office. ## Shah Rukh Khan has played a cameo role as Mohan Bhargav, a scientist and a member of the Brahmānsh who wielded Vanarāstra. SRK's cameo has been one of the biggest pluses and highlights of the movie and the character can easily be spin-off into a feature film or series.## The impact of SRK's cameo has been huge on the audiences and now, his fans are pushing things further, demanding a solo "Brahmastra" project. They have started the campaign and so far, over 1500 people have signed the petition to force the makers to make a spin-off of Bhrahmastra featuring Mohan Bhargav. ## These fan campaigns do not necessarily mean the makers will force to accept them but these often have made a positive impact and the biggest example of it is HBO Max's "Zack Snyder's Justice League", which could have been possible only because of an extreme fan campaign that forced Warner Bros. to make it. ## It will be interesting to see if SRK fans can achieve their goal. ## Meanwhile, "Brahmastra Part One: Shiva", directed by Ayan Mukerji and produced by Dharma Productions, Starlight Pictures, and Prime Focus in association with Star Studios, has had a record-breaking opening weekend at the worldwide box office despite mixed reviews. The movie made over 214 crores in three days, which is the biggest ever opening weekend for a Bollywood movie. ## It stars Amitabh Bachchan, Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, and Mouni Roy in prominent roles along with Nagarjuna Akkineni and Shah Rukh Khan. Drawing inspiration from stories in Hindu mythology, the film follows Shiva, an orphan with pyrokinetic powers who discovers that he is an Astra, a weapon of enormous energy. He attempts to prevent the strongest of the astras, the Brahmāstra, from falling into the hands of dark forces that share a history with him. ## Stay tuned...

Brahmastra First Monday Early Estimates; Holds Well Bollywood

Brahmastra First Monday Early Estimates; Holds Well

Mumbai, September 12 - After having a record-shattering opening weekend in all the versions Brahmastra witnessed a drop on Monday which was always likely. The film will witness an approx 50% drop compared to the opening day of the film.## The early estimates suggest 16.80 crores net in all the languages. The film can reach 17cr as well but for that, the film has to outperform late-night shows. Overall Monday numbers are very good, however, the makers would have loved 20 crores to remain in the race to collect 300cr lifetime collections which look tough now though if the film manages to sustain these levels for the next couple of days and eventually shows big growth on the second weekend then 300cr still could be achieved.## The film has seen a drop in collections in practically all the circuits but few circuits in the North haven't dropped that big compared to the rest. This is because Mumbai and South had partial holidays on the first day so they overperformed which the rest of the other circuits did not have and collected fairly. The dubbed version collections have always dropped and they will drop further as the film got mixed reviews there just like the rest of the country. The drop in collections is also because of ticket rates coming down as weekend rates were blockbuster levels. ## The first Monday collections will take the entire box office collections of Brahmastra to over 141cr net box office mark in all versions which is a huge number. The film should cross the 175cr net box office mark in the first week which is not much of an ask from here on. The film will emerge as a success in the first week but the HIT verdict will depend upon how the film fares in the second week as despite being a huge grosser this film cannot be termed as a hit due to having a humongous cost. The hit verdict will be given if it crosses the 250cr net box office mark.## Here are the early estimate collections of Brahmastra on the first Monday. ## Hindi Net: 15.45 Cr## Telugu Net: 1.00 Cr## Tamil Net: 35L## India Gross: 19.80 Cr## Stay tuned...

Brahmastra First Sunday Early Estimates; Creates Mayhem At The Box Office Bollywood

Brahmastra First Sunday Early Estimates; Creates Mayhem At The Box Office

Mumbai, September 11 - Brahmastra has created mayhem at the box office with extraordinary collections across the country on its first Sunday. The early estimate collections are heading towards a little under 45cr net box office mark in all the versions with the Hindi version recording close to 41.50cr net. These are early estimate collections and the final collections might vary.## The Hindi version collection on Sunday will be among the highest single days ever though it will fall short of Ranbir Kapoor's highest single-day record of Sanju which collected over 46cr net mark on the first Sunday but it also has to be noted that Sanju was released in 2018 when the box office collections were not as tough as today's post-pandemic world.## The film has witnessed outstanding growth and that too after recording two consecutive mega days at the box office. This type of trend was last witnessed in Ranbir Kapoor's Sanju and before that it was Salman Khan's, Tiger Zinda. The highest growth has come in circuits like Gujarat, Saurashtra, East Punjab, and Central India which is an excellent sign as these circuits are core Hindi circuits that will drive the film. The southern states continue to collect well though some centers have seen a drop which was always likely as the film overperformed on the first day down South.## The first weekend collections of Brahmastra are over 122cr mark in all the versions which is a new high for the Hindi film industry. The Hindi version weekend will be around the 112cr mark which will be the third highest after Sanju and Tiger Zinda Hai. The film has also recorded unbelievable collections overseas which enabled the worldwide collections to cross over the 200cr mark in the first weekend only which is again a new high for the Hindi film industry. The final worldwide weekend in the Hindi version will most probably edge out Salman Khan's Sultan or very close to it but that will be known tomorrow when the official number arrives.## Brahmastra has broken many records and created new ones and provided a much-needed respite to the Hindi film industry. The collections will drop tomorrow and looking at the advance on Monday the drop will be big but let's hope the film sustains well on the subsequent days to put a huge lifetime collection.## Stay tuned...

Huge Appreciation For Shah Rukh Khan's Cameos In 'Rocketry' And 'Brahmastra' Sets The Stage For 'Pathaan' To Create Mayhem At The Box Office

Mumbai, September 11 - Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan was last seen in a full-fledged role in Zero, which was released in December 2018. Now, after more than 4 years, he is going to make his big screen comeback as a lead hero in the Yash Raj Films' Pathaan, which is scheduled to release on January 25, 2023. ## It may have taken 4 years for King Khan to make his comeback but his craze among the fans hasn't dropped a bit. The comeback period of SRK could have been shorter had there been no covid-19 pandemic, but still, SRK managed to still the hearts of the audiences who have been waiting to see him in "Pathaan". ## "Pathaan" is one of the most anticipated Indian films and the stage for it has been perfectly set by the cameo roles Shah Rukh Khan played in two successful films this year - Rocketry: The Nambi Effect and Brahmastra Part One: Shiva. The actor made a guest appearance in Rocketry while currently in theaters, Brahmatra, SRK plays a healthy cameo of about 15 minutes.## It is very hard for actors to grab the headlines by only playing cameo roles unless the actor is Shah Rukh Khan. He was not a part of the promotion of both the films, still many people went to watch the movie only to see him on the big screen. SRK's cameos have been talking points on both occasions, especially in Brahmastra, in which his role is one of the biggest pluses. ## The fans are going gaga over their beloved star and social media is flooded with appreciation posts which shows how much the audience is waiting for his upcoming films. While "Pathaan" does not need any cameos to create hype around it, the reactions of people have surely set the stage for Siddharth Anand-directorial to create mayhem at the box office.## Shah Rukh Khan hasn't spoken anything about the people's reactions to his cameo roles yet, but he must be very happy to see the fans love and can be assured about the success of the upcoming spy action thriller that also stars John Abraham, and Deepika Padukone. ## Stay tuned...

12 Years of Dabangg Phenomenon - A Cult Classic Film In The 'Masala' Genre

Mumbai, September 10 - The No.1 Grosser & the Biggest hit of 2010 Dabangg with Salman khan in a titular role completes its Glorious 12 years today & the film has gained a cult status among movie-goers now. Dabangg had a huge pre-release hype due to the extraordinary trailer & the national chartbuster songs like "Munni Badnaam" & "Tere Mast Mast Do Nain". It would be safe to say that Dabangg was among the Top3 most hyped films on ground-level over the last 15 years. ## Due to the never before seen hype, Dabangg opened to an earth-shattering response from morning shows and broke the opening day record of 3idiots by collecting over 14.50cr. Later it went on to smash the opening weekend & week record of 3idiots by a big margin. The first 3 days saw Dabangg collecting the Highest Single Days at the box office which is to date a record for any Hindi film.## Before Dabangg, Salman khan had a Superhit film wanted which proved to be Blockbuster in interiors but it couldn't run well in multiplexes due to the adult certificate but with Dabangg - all segments of an audience had arrived. From masses from interiors to Class multiplex audiences from Urban centers. The film was for a Universal audience with the Biggest universal Superstar Salman khan and as a result, Dabangg became the most watched film in the history of Indian cinema in the "Cop" genre. In scale, size, and audience, Salman khan's Dabangg is Bigger than Iconic Amitabh Bachchan's Superhit film Zanjeer(1973).## Due to the arrival of huge streaming services like Netflix, Amazon prime, and many others, web series are started being made in huge numbers in the last 5 years & most web series in India have a reference from Dabangg. Be it the Dabangg hook step, the placing of a goggle behind his neck collar, the unforgettable dialogues of the film, or the character "Chulbul Pandey." The most recent web series or film to have a Dabangg reference is Ludo and Mimi proving the fact that Chulbul Pandey is one of the most iconic characters the Indian screen has ever witnessed & Dabangg is one of the most popular films ever made.## The Dabangg performance of Salman khan is arguably his best performance to date. He never looked as confident as he looked in Dabangg. His Body-language, his dialogue delivery, and his comic timing were so perfect that you cannot even think any other actor could have played Chulbul Pandey better than Salman. It looked like Salman khan was Born to play Chulbul Pandey. Salman plays Chulbul Pandey with the right amount of Swag, Style, Grey-shade, and mockery! His screen presence is Unbeatable. Dabangg is a one-man show - The Salman khan show!## Makers cashed in on the popularity of the character chulbul Pandey and the film Dabangg and converted it into a franchise. The 2nd film of the Dabangg franchise was released on Xmas 2012 with a Record-breaking initial and ended up being another Blockbuster for Salman khan. The 3rd film Dabangg3 didn't do as expected due to content being not up to the mark and largely affected by CAA NRC protests but was a decent earner with collections of around 140crs.## Dabangg was a trendsetter film. When the entire Bollywood was following & making films just for the Urban NRI audiences(3idiots, Love Aaj Kal, Kites, MNIK, Kambhakt Ishq, De Dana Dan), Came Dabangg, thrashed records left, right, and center and started a completely "Dabangg genre" of films. Singham, Rowdy Rathore, Talaash(This is in the less commercial zone), and Chennai Express were nothing but babies of Dabangg.## If Sholay gave birth to the action-masala genre with item songs, Dabangg gave it rebirth!## Stay tuned...

Brahmastra First Saturday Early Estimates; Witnesses Big Growth

Mumbai, September 10 - Brahmastra Part One: Shiva, which broke the non-holiday opening day record on the first day among many other records by collecting over 36cr net box office collections in all the versions is set to topple yesterday's collections, and that too by a big margin. The overall growth from yesterday is about 20% and that too after the historic first-day collections.## The first Saturday early estimates suggest around 42 net which will be among the highest single days of the industry which is an extraordinary achievement. These are early estimate collections and the final collections may vary but one thing is sure the second day of Brahmastra will cross 40cr net in all the versions. ## The growth has come in all the national chains by around 25-30% and even the standalone multiplexes have shown around 15-20% growth. Mumbai circuit continues to lead the chart followed by Delhi NCR. All the multiplexes are seeing near-capacity occupancies while single screens are recording good collections. The Sunday is set for further growth, especially in the single screens as multiplexes are recording near capacity occupancies so there is not much scope left there but single screens need growth and with an all-India holiday tomorrow it might fire huge occupancies.## The first two days' collections of Brahmastra is approx 80cr net box office collections in all the versions as per early estimate. There is no doubt that the film will cross the 100cr weekend mark but the real achievement will be crossing Sanju's highest weekend record of 120cr which looks within the range of Brahmastra.## The real test of the film will come on Monday and if the film holds well on Monday then there will be no stopping this film to become one of the biggest grosser in the Industry. The overseas collections are stupendous as well thanks to the bumper collections in USA / Canada. The film will be among the highest worldwide weekends of all time and it has all the potential to challenge the number one film on the list which is Salman Khan's Sultan which collected a massive 210cr worldwide weekend.##

Mumbai, September 10 - Brahmastra storms the box office as it records the highest opening day number post the pandemic for original Hindi films beating the collections of Sooryavanshi which was released on Diwali last year and collected around 26cr net on day one.## The difference between Sooryavanshi and Brahmastra is the fact that the Brahmastra numbers have come on a normal day while the numbers of Sooryavanshi came on the biggest day of the year at the box office which is Diwali.## The opening day collections of Brahmastra are around 32cr net box office mark in the Hindi version which is among the highest of all time along with blockbusters like Sanju, Tiger Zinda Hai, and Dhoom3. All these films have recorded similar collections in the range of 32-34cr. ## In all versions, the film has emerged as the highest nonholiday opener due to the massive release in the southern versions where the first-day numbers have come to the highest ever beating Dhoom3. The collections in the south can be called bumper while the collections in the north and elsewhere can be called excellent.## Today the film has seen a growth in the morning and afternoon shows and if the film continues its pace in the evening and night shows then today will going to be a bigger day at the box office. Brahmastra First Day Early Estimates; Sets Box Office On Fire

Mumbai, September 9 - The most anticipated Hindi film of this year Brahmastra has finally hit the screens. The film has been released on over 5000 screens in India making it one of the biggest releases ever in Indian cinema. The Ranbir Kapoor-fronted epic magnum opus also starring Alia Bhatt was in production for many years and the wait is finally over today.## The film took an excellent start in the morning shows with around 40% occupancy nationwide. This is the biggest opening post-pandemic for any Hindi film and that too by miles. The biggest reason for the earth-shattering opening is the trailer and song response and the subsequent promos which evoked huge anticipation among the audience. This type of visual is never seen before in any Indian film. ## The opening is extraordinary in most places with Mumbai, Delhi NCR, and Hyderabad leading the way followed by Bengaluru and Pune. The mass centers like Bihar, Rajasthan, and Central India have also seen huge crowds and they will get going from tomorrow onwards. The film has a huge release down South and even there the numbers are fantastic. The opening day number in southern states might come the highest ever beating Dhoom3.## The early estimate collections suggest around 36cr net box office collections in all the versions, including an estimated approx. 32 crores in Hindi which is an extraordinary collection especially when it is coming on a non-holiday. The highest nonholiday opening day record is also with Ranbir Kapoor's Sanju at around 34.50cr net and Brahmastra has a shot at that record if night shows outperform in the metros. Here we are talking about the Hindi version only as in all versions the collections are likely to cross Sanju. ## The industry is in a joyous mood after the mega opening day of Brahmastra. The opening is coming after huge negativity though that is mainly on social media only and if the content is exciting enough the audience will definitely go to come cinemas.## After the huge opening today the film might drop tomorrow as the reports are mixed for the film but the drop should be covered on the next day with all India holiday like Sunday. The weekend numbers are going to be extraordinary once again and this film has all the potential to hit 100cr net in the weekend which will be the first for Hindi film post-pandemic. The mass centers tomorrow might show growth while the metros might show a little drop.## Stay tuned...
