Chand Mera Dil 2nd Weekend Box Office: Emotional Drama Nets Rs. 4.85 Cr; Worldwide Gross Reaches Over 32 Cr
BY SACNILK
The narrative of Chand Mera Dil moves away from traditional college romances to explore much more difficult territory. By following Aarav and Chandni through an unplanned pregnancy and the resulting pressures of a young marriage, the film touches on themes of divorce and career frustration. This grounded approach to engineering student life has resulted in a mixed response from the audience, as the intensity of the plot contrasts with what some might expect from a campus setting. These factors are reflected in the steady but cautious box office numbers seen over the second weekend. During its second weekend, the film followed a typical pattern for urban-centric releases. After a sharp 40.9 percent drop on Friday, where it collected 1.30 Cr, the movie showed a healthy recovery on Saturday with a 34.6 percent jump. Sunday remained steady with a 2.9 percent growth over Saturday, bringing in 1.80 Cr. In total, the second weekend added a net of 4.85 Cr to its domestic tally. This brings the cumulative India net collection to 24.30 Cr and the worldwide gross to 32.24 Cr after ten days in theaters. The engagement on ticketing platforms and national chains reflects this consistent interest. Over 14,000 tickets were sold in national chains like PVR, INOX, and Cinepolis over the weekend. On Sunday alone, these chains contributed approximately 3,080 tickets. Specifically, PVR accounted for roughly 1,150 tickets, INOX sold 1,570 tickets, and Cinepolis added 360 tickets. On BookMyShow, the film recorded over 21,400 tickets in the last 24 hours, taking its cumulative total on the platform to 4.29 lakh tickets so far. The evening shows in this region were particularly strong at 35 percent. In the National Capital Region (NCR), the movie maintained a high volume of 425 shows with an average occupancy of 14.5 percent. Other cities like Ahmedabad and Surat held steady at 12.3 percent and 11 percent respectively. These numbers indicate that the film is finding its primary audience in the urban multiplexes of Western and Northern India. Internationally, the film added 0.45 Cr over the weekend to reach a total overseas gross of 3.50 Cr. Combined with the India gross of 28.74 Cr, Chand Mera Dil is steadily moving toward the 35 Cr mark globally. Having completed nearly 38,600 shows across its run, the film is proving to be a stable performer for its genre. The focus now shifts to the second weekdays to see how well it maintains its theater count against upcoming releases.
