Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan Reunite: But Who Is Playing Whom?

BY SUNIT JANGIR

Chennai, February 22 - The long-awaited reunion of Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan has officially been confirmed, sending waves of excitement among the fans. The iconic duo, who last shared the screen 46 years ago, are coming together for a new project tentatively titled KH x RK, directed by Nelson Dilipkumar. While the announcement promo has gone viral, it has also sparked a burning question and debate among fans: who is playing the hero, and who is the antagonist? Soon after the promo dropped, speculation exploded on social media, with many assuming a classic hero-versus-villain setup between the two legends. The makers have kept the plot details strictly under wraps. The promotional material itself playfully raises the question of "who is the hero," without offering any concrete answers, making it clear that the ambiguity is part of the film's marketing strategy. However, despite not revealing directly, Nelson seemingly has left ester eggs for the fans to find out details within the promo. While showing the names of the stars, the director has highlighted some specific words which hint that Rajinikanth will be playing the protagonist, while Kamal Haasan will don the antagonist hat in this highly anticipated film. Of course, the word play could be a hint for some other aspects, and there is no reason to believe that Rajnikanth is playing the hero or Kamal Haasan is the antagonist. At this stage, what is confirmed is the scale and intent of the project - KH x RK is being positioned as a full-fledged cinematic event, celebrating two contrasting yet equally powerful screen legacies. Until the makers release further details, the question of "who is playing whom" remains unanswered - and that mystery is only adding to the anticipation. For now, fans will have to wait and watch as Indian cinema's most iconic rivalry turns into its most intriguing reunion. The shoot is expected to commence soon.

Jr. NTR's Dragon With Prashanth Neel Locks North America and The UK Theatrical Deal In 55 Crore?

BY SUNIT JANGIR

Hyderabad, February 22 - Telugu superstar Jr. NTR's maiden collaboration with KGF director Prashanth Neel has been catching eyeballs ever since it was announced. The period action drama is easily among the most-anticipated Pan India films, with trade taking so much interest. Recently, it was reported that Netflix grabbed the post-theatrical streaming rights of the film, tentatively titled Dragon for all languages. Now, according to the latest Telugu media reports, the makers have locked the overseas theatrical deal for a massive sum. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) As per TrackTollywood, the film has closed a massive deal for North America and the UK combined rights at around 55 crore advance, despite there having been no promotional content released so far. The break even traget in North America is said to be $11 million (~100 crore gross) and $1 million (~9 crore gross) for the United Kingdom. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) It is said to be one of the biggest theatrical deals, if not the biggest, for an Indian title. There have been very few Indian films which managed to gross $10+ million at the North American box office, and considering that, Dragon has sealed a solid deal well before the release date. Produced by Mythri Movie Makers and NTR Arts, Dragon also stars Anil Kapoor, Rukmini Vasanth, and Tovino Thomas in key roles. The film was supposed to be released in April this year, but has now reportedly been pushed to next year due to demanding shooting schedules and extensive post-production work. Stay tuned...

Yash's Toxic Teaser Breaks Into Top Five Most Viewed Indian Teasers On YouTube Within 24 Hours

BY CHRISTA LINCY

The promotional campaign for Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups has achieved a significant digital milestone as its official teaser officially entered the list of the top five most-viewed Indian film teasers on YouTube within a 24-hour window. The Rocking Star Yash-starrer, which launched its glimpse on February 20, 2026, concluded its first full day of tracking with 48.5 million views across all languages, effectively displacing the 2019 actioner Saaho from the top tier. The data, tracked across multiple official YouTube channels, underscores the sustained global interest in Yash's filmography following the record-shattering success of the KGF franchise. While the makers reported over 100 million cumulative digital views across all social platforms , the 48.5 million YouTube-specific figure serves as the industry benchmark for first-day engagement. Leading the all-time list is Prabhas's mythological epic Adipurush, which holds the top spot with 101 million views, primarily driven by its massive reach through T-Series' regional networks. Prashanth Neel's Salaar: Part 1 – Ceasefire follows at number two, maintaining its record for the highest views on a single production channel. Yash's own KGF: Chapter 2 and Ram Charan's Game Changer occupy the third and fourth positions, respectively. Salman Khan's 2025 actioner Sikandar secured the eighth position with 41.6 million views, followed closely by Allu Arjun's Pushpa 2: The Rule at 39.3 million. Shah Rukh Khan's Dunki and Prabhas's The Raja Saab round out the elite list with 36.8 million and 31.23 million views, respectively. With Toxic scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on March 19, 2026, it is evident that the film will continue to challenge existing digital and box office records during the upcoming festive window of Ugadi and Eid.

Allu Arjun Clinches Seventh Filmfare Trophy For Pushpa 2 Matching Megastar Chiranjeevi's Competitive Award Record

BY CHRISTA LINCY

Allu Arjun has etched his name further into the annals of Telugu cinema history, securing the Best Actor (Telugu) trophy for Pushpa 2: The Rule at the 70th Filmfare Awards South. The victory, announced on February 21, 2026, marks the actor's seventh competitive Filmfare win, bringing his total tally level with the long-standing record held by Megastar Chiranjeevi. The win for Pushpa 2 follows the massive critical and commercial success of the Sukumar-directed sequel, which saw Allu Arjun reprise his role as the titular red-sander smuggler turned kingpin. His performance, characterized by intense physicality and a distinct dialect, has already earned him significant national acclaim, with this latest Black Lady serving as a testament to his dominance in the leading man category. Data highlights a remarkable efficiency in Allu Arjun's award trajectory. The actor reached the seven-award milestone from just 13 nominations, whereas Megastar Chiranjeevi achieved his seven Best Actor trophies from 21 nominations. While Chiranjeevi still holds the record for the highest number of wins specifically in the Best Actor category, Allu Arjun's cumulative competitive trophies—spanning Best Actor, Best Supporting Actor, and Critics' Choice—cement his status as the most decorated actor of the current generation. Chiranjeevi's legendary status is anchored by a diverse filmography that saw him dominate the Best Actor category across three decades. His record-holding journey began with the nuanced Subhalekha (1982) and the family drama Vijetha (1985). He later secured critical acclaim for the K. Viswanath-directed Aapathbandhavudu (1992) and massive commercial success with the mass entertainer Muta Mesthri (1993). The Megastar's later wins for the dual-role performance in Sneham Kosam (1999), the industry-redefining blockbuster Indra (2002), and the iconic comedic turn in Shankar Dada MBBS (2004) set a benchmark for stardom that remained unchallenged for over twenty years. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({})   Allu Arjun's journey to seven Filmfare awards includes five Best Actor trophies for Parugu, Vedam, Race Gurram, Pushpa: The Rise, and now Pushpa 2: The Rule. He also secured a Best Supporting Actor win for his portrayal of Gona Ganna Reddy in Rudhramadevi and a Best Actor (Critics) award for Sarrainodu. This consistent performance across diverse genres has allowed him to close the gap with the industry's senior legends in record time. The success of Pushpa 2: The Rule at the Filmfare Awards comes on the heels of its record-breaking box office run, where it surpassed the collections of its predecessor to become one of the highest-grossing Indian films of all time. With a background score by Devi Sri Prasad and high-octane sequences choreographed by top-tier stunt directors, the film has set new benchmarks for the Masala genre.

Do Deewane Seher Mein and Assi Score Poor Opening Day At The Domestic Box Office

BY SUNIT JANGIR

Mumbai, February 21 - There was no respite for the Hindi box office this Friday as Do Deewane Seher Mein and Assi have both registered a low start at the domestic box office, with opening day collections falling short of even low trade expectations. Despite featuring known actors, neither film managed to draw strong footfalls on its first Friday. Starring Siddhant Chaturvedi and Mrunal Thakur, Do Deewane Seher Mein opened slightly ahead in the clash, earning around 1.25 crore net on Day 1. However, the romantic drama struggled with low occupancy across major urban centres, indicating limited audience pull beyond select multiplex pockets. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) On the other hand, Taapsee Pannu's courtroom drama Assi fared marginally lower, collecting around 1 crore net on its opening day. While the film received attention for its subject-driven narrative, the serious tone and muted promotions appeared to restrict its reach among mass audiences on the first day. Overall, the poor opening day performance of both films points to a slow Friday at the Hindi box office. The initial word of mouth seems to be ok, particularly for Assi, with the limited awareness among the audience and the subject of the film is a big disadvantage. A big weekend growth will be crucial if Do Deewane Seher Mein and Assi hope to recover in the coming days, as their opening numbers have left little room for error going forward. Stay tuned...

Toxic Debuts Yash's Clean-Shaven Avatar And Fuels Intense Dual-Role Speculation Ahead Of 2026 Release

BY CHRISTA LINCY

The promotional campaign for Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-ups has taken a significant turn with the makers unveiling a striking new poster featuring Rocking Star Yash in a completely clean-shaven look. This latest visual, shared by KVN Productions and Yash's Monster Mind Creations, introduces his character under the moniker Ticket, a move that has immediately triggered widespread speculation regarding a potential double role. The sharp contrast between this clean-shaven aesthetic and the rugged, bearded persona seen in previous glimpses has fueled widespread speculation that the actor may be portraying two distinct roles within the film's narrative. The new poster, carrying the ominous tagline Your Ticket to Hell, reinforces the gritty, high-stakes atmosphere established by the film's recent teaser. This clean-shaven transition marks a drastic departure from the actor's iconic KGF appearance, signaling a deliberate effort to reinvent his screen presence for this international project. Industry sources suggest that the character Ticket might represent a younger version of the protagonist or a separate individual altogether within the film's complex cartel-driven storyline, though the production team has yet to officially confirm these plot details. In a notable creative collaboration, the script is co-written by both Yash and Geetu Mohandas, reflecting the actor's deep involvement in the project's conceptualization. The film is being shot simultaneously in English and Kannada, with plans for a massive dubbed release in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil and Malayalam. This strategy highlights the producers' intent to capture a worldwide audience, leveraging the actor's post-KGF stardom on a larger scale. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({})   The project features a powerhouse ensemble cast, including Kiara Advani, Nayanthara, Huma Qureshi, Tara Sutaria, and Rukmini Vasanth, ensuring a multi-starrer appeal across different regional markets. On the technical front, the film reunites Yash with music director Ravi Basrur, whose background score in the recent teaser has already gained significant traction. The cinematography is handled by Rajeev Ravi, while the action choreography is overseen by a team of international and domestic experts including JJ Perry and Anbariv, promising a blend of realistic and stylized violence. Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-ups is officially locked for a worldwide theatrical release on Thursday, March 19, 2026. This timing is strategically chosen to coincide with the major festive weekend of Ugadi, Gudi Padwa, and Eid, providing a massive window for domestic box-office collection. Produced by Venkat K. Narayana and Yash, the film is currently one of the most anticipated Indian releases of the 2026 calendar year, with trade experts predicting it will set new benchmarks for the Kannada film industry on the global stage.

Sanjay Gupta Finalizes Script For Kaabil 2 And Vows Deadlier Sequel While Awaiting Official Production Signal From Hrithik Roshan

BY CHRISTA LINCY

Director Sanjay Gupta has confirmed that the screenplay for the sequel to the 2017 hit Kaabil is officially complete. In an exclusive conversation with Variety India, the filmmaker revealed that the project is now pending a green signal from Hrithik Roshan and producer Rakesh Roshan under their banner, FilmKraft Productions. Gupta, known for gritty action dramas like Shootout at Wadala, emphasized that the sequel aims to surpass the intensity of the original. He noted that the new script is significantly deadlier, adhering to the philosophy that a sequel must offer a superior experience to justify its existence. The director stated that as a writer and filmmaker, he is fully prepared to move into production the moment the Roshans determine the timing is right for the franchise's return. The original Kaabil remains a significant milestone in Hrithik Roshan's filmography. Despite a high-profile box office clash with the Shah Rukh Khan-starrer Raees in January 2017, the film demonstrated strong legs at the ticket window, comfortably entering the ₹100 crore club. Hrithik's portrayal of Rohan Bhatnagar, a blind voice-over artist who turns into a calculated vigilante to avenge his wife, received widespread critical acclaim for its emotional depth and physical nuance. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({})   While the sequel's specific plot remains under wraps, it is expected to build on the vigilante-thriller foundation established by the first installment, which featured Yami Gautam, Ronit Roy, and Rohit Roy in pivotal roles. The first film was also noted for its soul-stirring music by Rajesh Roshan and a taut screenplay by Vijay Kumar Mishra, elements that fans expect to see replicated or elevated in the second chapter. Kaabil 2 will depend on Hrithik Roshan's current high-stakes slate. The actor is currently deep in the pre-production phase for the ambitious Krrish 4, which is expected to reach theaters in 2027. In a significant development for the franchise, Krrish 4 is slated to begin principal photography in mid-2026, with reports suggesting that Hrithik Roshan may take the director's chair himself. The superhero sequel is also reportedly moving toward a co-production model with Yash Raj Films (YRF), a move necessitated after extensive budget negotiations to ensure the project meets global visual standards. With Krrish 4 serving as the primary focus for mid-2026, Kaabil 2 is being viewed as a potent, high-intensity action project that could bolster FilmKraft's lineup during the 2026-2027 production cycle once the deadlier script receives the final go-ahead.
