Hyderabad, May 24 - Director Sandeep Reddy Vanga's highly anticipated cop action thriller Spirit has been in the news for the last few days regarding the female lead, and the maverick filmmaker has finally officially locked the one to romance Pan India superstar Prabhas. ## On Saturday (May 24), Sandeep Reddy Vanga announced on social media that Tripti Dimri has been locked to play the female lead in his next, putting an end to the months of speculation. It was reported that Deepika Padukone was supposed to be the leading lady, but she exited the film for some reason. ## Spirit marks Tripti's second film with Sandeep Vanga after Animal (2023) and her first film with Prabhas. The film will feature a big ensemble cast, and the makers will make official announcements for the same in due course. ## The upcoming film will be produced by T-Series and Bhadrakali Pictures. Mumbai, May 23 - One of the biggest Indian films of the year, War 2, starring Hrithik Roshan and Jr. NTR has sparked massive excitement among the fans and trade after the first look teaser, which was launched on May 20 on the occasion of Jr. NTR's birthday. ## According to the report by Pinkvilla, Yash Raj Films has received offers in the range of 100 crores for the Telugu states. It has got Non-Refundable Advance (NRA) aka. MG offers from distributors like Mythri Movie Makers, Sri Venkateshwara Creations, Sithara Entertainment, and Asian Cinema, among other independent buyers. ## The studio has received the biggest offer from Asian Cinemas, which has made a staggering offer of Rs 100 crore for the Telugu states for the Hindi and Telugu dubbed version. Sithara Entertainment, on the other hand, has made an 80 crore deal. ## These are the biggest offers for a dubbed film in Telugu. Mumbai, May 23 - Producer Dinesh Vijan's Maddock Films is turning 2019's hit rom-com Luka Chuppi into a franchise and has put its sequel under development with a new leading cast, replacing Kartik Aaryan and Kriti Sanon from the original movie. ## According to the report by Peepingmoon.com, Maddock has roped in Varun Dhawan and Sharvari Wagh to headline Luka Chuppi 2. Both actors have reportedly given their preliminary approval and are expected to formally sign on once the script is finalised in the coming months. ## The report further said that the sequel will be different from the original movie, with a supernatural twist in its comedic narrative. It will retain the humorous tone but will have an entirely different storyline from the first movie, which was centred on a couple navigating a live-in relationship complicated by the arrival of their traditional families. ## While the director's name is not revealed yet, Luka Chuppi 2 will reportedly be directed by one of the associates of Laxman Utekar who directed the first film. The upcoming film will mark Varun and Sharvari's first film together, although they both are part of Maddock's Horror Comedy universe. ## The shoot of Luka Chuppi 2 is expected to begin early next year after Varun and Sharvari wrap up their current commitments. Mumbai, May 23 - Marvel Studios's next Avengers movie, Avengers: Doomsday, is set to pose a major threat to local and international releases at the box office after it was postponed to December 2026 from May 1st, 2026. ## Directed by Russo Brothers, Doomsday will now be released on December 18, ahead of the Christmas weekend globally. Interestingly, Warner Bros. Pictures' sci-fi epic Dune 3/Dune: Messiah has already been announced for December 16 release, and if it holds that date, then Hollywood is set for a major box office clash. ## Not only the local movie, Doomsday, may also challenge a big Bollywood title. It was recently confirmed that superstar Aamir Khan and director Rajkumar Hirani would reunite for the biopic of Dadasaheb Phalke, also known as the Father of Indian Cinema. ## The shoot of this yet untitled movie will begin in October this year, and if reports are to be believed, the makers are eyeing a Christmas 2026 release of the movie. Another report has stated that the movie might also be released in April 2027, on Phalke's 157th birth anniversary. ## Apart from Dadasaheb Phalke's biopic, there is Maddock Films' biggest film to date, Mahavatar, which is set against the backdrop of Ramayana and is about one of the most pivotal characters of the epic, Lord Parshuram. It was announced in November last year for a Christmas 2026 release with the shoot set to commence by the end of 2025. ## If the makers go ahead with the Christmas launch, then Doomsday might pose a major threat to both Bollywood titles. Marvel movies have historically done well, especially the Avengers movies, as Avengers: Endgame is the second-highest-grossing Hollywood movie in India, and Doomsday is very much expected to set the box office on fire. ## There is still a long time to go for Christmas 2026, and with movie dynamics changing frequently, there is a chance that the box office clash might not happen. Los Angeles, May 23 - The new Avengers movies will take more than the earlier scheduled time as Disney has postponed the release dates of Marvel Studios' Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret War by nearly 7 months each. ## Doomsday, which was supposed to be released on May 1st, 2026, will now debut in worldwide theatres on December 18, 2026. On the other hand, Secret Wars has been pushed back to December 17, 2027, from its originally planned May 7, 2027, launch. ## Notably, the new release calendar saw Disney remove several unannounced Marvel titles from its calendar. The date of Feb. 13, 2026, previously slotted for an Untitled Marvel project, has been removed from the schedule. Meanwhile, the dates of Nov. 6, 2026 and Nov. 5, 2027 — both previously set for Untitled Marvel features — have been amended to simply Untitled Disney films. ## After the changes, Avengers: Doomsday and Sony's Spider-Man: Brand New Day are now the only Marvel Cinematic Universe entries slated to hit theatres in 2026. Los Angeles, May 22 - Hollywood superstar Tom Cruise's Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning is heading for a franchise record at the worldwide box office during the Memorial Day opening weekend, which is expected to deliver massive box office numbers. ## The Final Reckoning had an early release in a few international markets, including India, but the official international roll-out of the movie began on Wednesday. According to Deadline, the film is expected to gross $200 million - $220 million in its worldwide opening weekend, which will be a record for the franchise. ## The film's domestic (North America) opening weekend is projected to be in the range of $75 million - $85 million, while its international debut is expected to be $125 million - $135 million. This marks their second collaboration after the mega Bollywood blockbuster, Jawan, starring Shah Rukh Khan. ## While the details are not revealed, it is said that Deepika has been paid a huge remuneration for AA22xA6, which will be made on a budget of over 600 crores. The film also has Mrunal Thakur and Janhvi Kapoor as the other 2 female leads. The casting for the other actors is currently underway. ## Envisioned as a visually groundbreaking action spectacle set in a parallel universe, AA22xA6 features the Pushpa 2 star Allu Arjun in his first double role. The pre-production of the film, produced by Sun Pictures, is going on in full swing as the makers aim to start shooting by July this year. ## Meanwhile, Deepika was also supposed to play the female lead in superstar Prabhas-fronted Spirit, directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga. Mumbai, May 22 - Director Sandeep Reddy Vanga's highly-awaited Pan India movie Spirit with superstar Prabhas, seems to have a major casting shift after Deepika Padukone reportedly exited the film for some reason. ## It is said that Deepika was officially on board to play the female lead role, but has now been dropped from the film. According to the report by Bollywood Hungama, SRV got the shock of his life when Deepika Padukone refused to shoot for more than 6 hours a day for Spirit. ## Apart from the shooting hours, Deepika, through her agency, reportedly demanded an amendment to the contract. Their point of contention was simple - if the shoot extends beyond 100 days, Deepika will have to be paid extra for every single day of the shoot beyond the commitment on paper. ## The report further states that director Vanga, along with the producers, tried their best to sort out the issues, but the actress refused to bow down, eventually leading Vanga to drop the Kalki actress from the movie. He is now looking to recast for the part. ## Interestingly, Deepika had earlier turned down the offer as the shooting timelines did not match due to her pregnancy. However, due to a delay in the shoot, SRV approached her again, and this time, she agreed to come on board, before she was dropped again. ## The film is produced by T-Series and Bhadrakali Pictures. He has teamed up with Tamil star Dhanush for the biopic of former President of India, A. P. J.
