Shahid Kapoor is all set to kickstart his digital debut series with the director duo Raj & DK. It was revealed last year that Kabir Singh actor will be leading Amazon Prime Video's next action thriller web series which is said to be a two-part series. According to reports, Shahid will be in the title role in & as 'Sunny', and the shooting is said to be begun next week in Goa. ## Shahid took to his Instagram stories and shared a picture with Raj & DK. "It's taking offfff...... These bad boys got a hard vibe and a dark plan..", he wrote on the picture. ## "Raj & DK's show with Shahid has been titled Sunny. It's an explosive action-thriller with their usual quirks infused in it. Planned as a two-season project, this series will see Shahid in the titular role, performing some acutely designed daredevil action sequences. He is excited to dive into the quirk world of Raj & DK and will fly off to Goa today to join them", said a source quoted in Peepingmoon.com. ## South film industry superstar Vijay Sethupathi has reportedly been signed to play the villain which also happens to be his digital debut. Earlier, it was said that Malavika Mohanan will play the leading lady, however, the South Indian actress Raashi Khanna is now reportedly cast as the female lead. Actor-director Amole Gupte will also play a pivotal role and will join the sets on 2nd February. The show has been planned to be wrapped by the end of April 2021. ## This web series marks the third collaboration between Raj & DK and Amazon Prime Video after their two seasons of Manoj Bajpayee-fronted The Family Man with the second season set to premiere on Fabruary 12. There was a massive demand for the sequel of Disney+Hotstar's action espionage thriller web series, Special Ops, headlined by Kay Kay Menon. The series gained a homogenous response from the viewers and now, filmmaker Neeraj Pandey and Disney+ Hotstar on Friday announced a multi-series franchise, titled "Special Ops Universe". ## The first show in the franchise will be "Special Ops 1.5: The Himmat Story", which will see Menon reprising his role of Himmat Singh from the 2020 series. The new series will tell Singh's backstory and form a pivotal part of the universe in three episodes which will start production later this year. ## "We are starting off with a unique 'Special Ops 1.5' which is neither a prequel nor a sequel. The series will start with Himmat Singh being assigned to another case, but the deflection point is the same parliament attack that started the series of events. Actor Vivian Dsena, who rose to fame with the supernatural television show Pyaar Kii Yeh Ekk Kahani, is not perturbed by the sudden wave of OTT taking over. He believes that the two mediums are different and cannot be compared.## "Everybody is not an OTT fan, and everybody is not an Indian television fan. The audience is very neatly separated or rather bifurcated", Vivian tells IANS.## The actor who is known for his performances as Abhay in Pyaar Kii Ye Ek Kahani, R.K. in Madhubala – Ek Ishq Ek Junoon, has reasons to believe that the digital world should not be confused with what television has to offer. ## "The digitalization is in the direction of a digital world so if you compare it with television it would be very different because both the mediums are different. Amazon Prime Video's new web series, Tandav has lent in big trouble after an FIR against the makers of the series and the streaming platform for insulting Hindu gods, lodged in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. The case was filed hours after the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting reportedly sought a response from Amazon Prime on a complaint filed by Maharashtra BJP MLA Ram Kadam.## The director, producer, and writer of the Saif Ali Khan-Dimple Kapadia starrer "Tandav" and Amazon's head of India Original Content have been accused in the case of promoting religious enmity and defiling a place of worship. The complaint has been filed at Lucknow's Hazratganj police station by a sub-inspector who is also posted there.## Soon after the case was registered, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's media adviser Shalabh Mani Tripathi shared a copy of it on Twitter on Monday, January 18. ## "There is no tolerance for playing with people's sentiments in Yogi Adityanath's Uttar Pradesh. A serious case has been registered against the entire team of Tandav, which is spreading hate in the guise of cheap web series. In the web series, the character of the person occupying the high post of India's Prime Minister has been shown in a very indecent manner... The series depicts lower and higher castes and scenes that insult women, and the intent... seems to be to hurt the religious feelings of one community and to spread conflict", the complaint reads.## Tandav is a political thriller series that is created and directed by Ali Abbas Zafar. Apart from Saif Ali Khan, and Dimple Kapadia, the series also stars Sunil Grover, Kumud Misra, Tigmanshu Dhulia, Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub, Sarah Jane Dias, Gauahar Khan, Dino Morea, and others in key roles. The streamer shared the news on its official Twitter page in a video featuring some of the stars attached to these projects.## The titles include action movie "Red Notice", starring Gal Gadot, Ryan Reynolds and Dwayne Johnson along with Zack Snyder's zombie film "Army of the Dead", political satire "Don't Look Up", featuring Jennifer Lawrence and Leonardo DiCaprio, and musical "Tik, Tik… Boom!" which is Lin Manuel Miranda's directorial debut, among others. The list also includes acquisitions like Halle Berry's directorial debut "Bruised" and "Malcolm & Marie", starring Zendaya and John David Washington.## The line-up also comprises the third chapters of the hit Netflix franchises — "To All The Boys I've Loved Before" and "The Kissing Booth". According to The Hollywood Reporter, the streamer's current 2021 originals slate consists of 70 titles – including one trilogy, with the RL Stine adaptation "Fear Street". Director Sriram Raghavan, who is known for making films with hard-hitting themes such as Andhadhun, Badlapur, and others, is all set to make his digital debut with a series based on one of India's unforgettable and horrifying incidents that took place in 1999 in the forms of Hijacking of Indian Airlines Flight 814, commonly known as IC 814. (according to LetsOTT) ## The series will narrate the hijacking of the Indian Airlines Flight AC-814 by Pakistan based terrorist group Harkat-ul-Mujahideen in 1999. The incident forced India to release three Islamist terrorists in return for the safety of 176 passengers and crew of the flight before five masked terrorists fatally stabbed one and wounded several others. ## Raghavan and his team are said to have started researching the project and are talking to crew members and passengers who were on the flight for their source material. Raghavan is apparently planning to make it as a taut thriller and mount it next year. The OTT platform for the project is not decided yet. ## Talking about the incident, Indian Airlines Flight 814 was hijacked on December 24, 1999, when it was en route from Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu, Nepal to Delhi. The airbus was hijacked by five masked gunmen shortly after it entered the Indian airspace. The hijackers ordered the aircraft to be flown to a series of locations such as Amritsar, Lahore, and Dubai before they forced the aircraft to land in Kandahar, Afghanistan, which at the time was controlled by the Taliban. ## The Kandahar hijacking has been the subject of a few films in past. Mohanlal and Amitabh Bachchan starrer 2010 Malayalam film Kandahar, Nagarjuna's Gaganam, and Ajay Devgn, Abhishek Bachchan and Bipasha Basu starrer Zameen (2003) were loosely based on this incident. ## Meanwhile, Sriram Raghavan was supposed to shoot for Ekkis with Varun Dhawan last year. However, the film could not go on floors because of the covid-19 pandemic. It was recently revealed that Bollywood superstar, Hrithik Roshan has been approached by Disney+Hotstar to play the lead role in the Hindi adaptation of the British TV series, "The Night Manager". Now, as per the latest development, the superstar has signed the show and will begin the shooting for it in March next year. ## According to the reports, Hrithik has signed on the dotted line and will kick it off almost after two years of his last release, War. The Night Manager will see him playing the role of a luxury hotel night manager and former Indian soldier who is recruited by a government agent to infiltrate the inner circle of a ruthless arms dealer.## As reported, Hrithik is apparently being paid a whopping 75 crores for what would be his debut on the OTT platform. The show is reportedly being planned on a large scale and will be as stylish as the original that starred Tom Hiddleston, who is widely known for playing supervillain Loki in the Marvel Cinematic Universe movies. ## Marathi film, Chumbak director, Sandeep Modi, who also co-directed Sushmita Sen starrer "Aarya" with Ram Madhvani earlier this year, is on board to helm the OTT debut series of Hrithik.
