Bangladesh create history to win maiden women's Asia Cup title

What a thrilling end of the women's Asia Cup final. But it was Bangladesh who creates history as they beat 6 time Asia cup winner, India by 3 wickets to win first ever Asia cup on Sunday, June 10.## Going into this match, Bangladesh had nothing to lose. They stunned hot favourite India and written their name in history.## Earlier in this match, it was Bangladesh who had won the toss and put India to bat first. India started poorly and lost Smriti Mandhana after getting run out on a team score of 12. Before India could recover, Deepti Sharma (4 off 10) and Mithali Raj (11 off 18) lose their wickets in back to back overs.## Anuja Patil got out to Obstructing field as she changed her direction while running. She scored only 3 off 4 balls. India at one stage was 32 for 4 after 8.2 overs. Skipper Harmanpreet Kaur and Veda Krishnamurthy then put up a short but important partnership of 30 off 25 balls before Veda bowled out by skipper Salma Khatun. Tania Bhatia and Shikha Pandey also followed Veda as India reduced to 74 for 7 after 15 overs. ## However, Kaur and Jhulan Goswami put up 33- runs together and gave bowlers something to defend as India finished with 112 for 9 in 20 overs. Kaur led from the front and scored 56 off 42 balls before getting out on this last ball of the innings.## Bangladesh bowled well, Rumana Ahmad was the star with 22 for 2 in 4 overs. Khadija also bowled well and finished her spell with 23 for 2.## In reply of 113, Bangladesh started well and put 35 for the first wicket before Poonam Yadav dismissed both the openers in back to back balls. But Nigar Sultana (27 off 24) and Rumana Ahmad (23 off 22 balls) took the game away from India.## Bangladesh was needed 9 runs to win in last over and skipper Harmanpreet Kaur took the responsibility on her shoulders 5o defend those runs. She conceded 6 runs off first 3 balls but did well on next to ball as she gave only single and got 2 wickets (one run out). 2 required in the last ball, Jahanara Alam pushed towards deep mid wicket and completed two runs and won the Asia Cup.## Poonam Yadav was the star bowler for India as she finished her spell with 9 for 4. She was one of the main reasons this game got to the last over. Bangladesh made 166/8 in 20 overs.## India's reply was began in fifth gear, both Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan unleashing themselves on Shakib and Mahidy Hassan, who opend howling for Bangladesh. Rohit Sharma who was the top scorer in last match, was India's go to man in powerplay in the final. He hit two sixes to Mehidy in only second over of the innings, that the off spinner never returned to bowl in whole innings.## Despite lossing Shikhar Dhawan and Suresh Raina in quick succession in the powerplay, Rohit and Rahul kept playing their shots ensured Bangladesh never gained the upper hand.
