Mumbai, March 13 (IANS) From Ranveer Singh's Jayeshbhai Jordaar to Farhan Akhtar's Toofaan and Vicky Kausal-starrer Sardar Udham Singh, makers of several high-profile films have rescheduled release dates of their respective movies in the wake of coronavirus outbreak. ## "Jayeshbhai Jordaar" is now slated to release on October 2, which was the initial release date of "Toofaan". The Farhan Akhtar boxing drama has now been scheduled for September 18. ## The decision was conveyed by Yash Raj Films (YRF) and Excel Entertainment, producers of "Jayeshbhai Jordaar" and "Toofaan" respectively, on behalf of YRF owner Aditya Chopra and Excel co-owner Ritesh Sidhwani. ## "In the interest of both films and to ensure an ideal theatrical release, #AdityaChopra & @ritesh_sid have decided to release their films on different dates. YRF will release #JayeshbhaiJordaar on 2nd October and @excelmovies will release #Toofaan on 18th September 2020," a post read on the official Twitter page of YRF. ## Later in the evening, actor Vicky Kaushal took to social media and shared that his upcoming film "Sardar Udham Singh" has been pushed to January 15,2021. The film is based on the story of Udham Singh, who assassinated Michael O' Dwyer, the former lieutenant governor of Punjab in pre-Independence India, to avenge the Jallianwala Bagh massacre in Amritsar in 1919. Singh was subsequently tried and convicted of murder and hanged in July 1940. ## "On March 13th 1940, #SardarUdham singlehandedly assassinated Michael O' Dwyer in London to honour the lives lost at the Jallianwala Bagh massacre. His story deserves justice onscreen. Keeping that in mind, we will now see you in cinemas on 15th January 2021," Vicky wrote. ## The decisions comes a day after the Delhi government officially announced the shutdown of all cinema halls in the Capital until March 31 due to the outbreak of coronavirus. Mumbai, March 13 (IANS) Upcoming films have been indefinitely postponed owing to cinema halls being shut down in the wake of coronavirus pandemic, but the films that were already running are bearing the brunt. ## The Tiger Shroff-starrer "Baaghi 3" and this week's release "Angrezi Medium", which brings back Irrfan, are the hardest hit. ## "Baaghi 3", which released in India on March 6, was doing brisk business till many states declared an emergency, directing halls to shut down. The film recorded the biggest opening of 2020 so far, raking in Rs 17.50 crore on day one. ## However, "Baaghi 3" is currently witnessing a slump at the box office after cinema halls were shut down in Delhi, Maharashtra, Jammu, Bihar, Orissa, Karnataka, and Kerala, at the time of going to press. ## While the film is expected to cross the Rs 100-crore mark, the trade had expected it to scale at least Rs 130 crore. Till Thursday, the film has managed Rs 90.67 crore, according to trade analyst Taran Adarsh's tweet. ## As per several trade projections, big-ticket films like "Baaghi 3" and Rohit Shetty's postponed "Sooryavanshi" stand to see a 15-20 percent impact on their collections under these circumstances. The scene looks bleaker for a smaller film like "Angrezi Medium", which opened on Friday. Be safe, take necessary precautions and also be responsible. Don't add to the panic. Last but not the least, try and make the most of the compulsory 'me' time!" ## Kartik Aaryan shared a video from an outdoor set in Lucknow, where he can be seen walking in a mask along with other crew members. The actor captioned: "Stay safe guys. Can't stress this enough. #WashYourHands #CoronaStopKaroNa" ## Earlier in the day, as reported by IANS, Bollywood veteran Amitabh Bachchan expressed his thoughts on the outbreak with a self-composed poem about coronavirus. The actor took to Twitter to recite the short poem. In a video tweeted by Big B, he says in Hindi: "Over the past few days, people have been discussing a lot about coronavirus. People are suffering losses and everybody is scared and worried. This morning I had a feeling that I should also say something on the issue. So I have penned a few lines which I want to share with you all." Saying this he recites the poem. ## Sharing a couple of pictures where he can be seen holding some documents, the actor wrote in a separate tweet: "T 3469 - Getting set to advocate the preventions necessary about CoVID 19, ... this is for UNICEF, and the Health Ministry of GOI.. the message should be out soon.. Be safe.. be careful." ## Anupam Kher shared a video on Twitter and Instagram where he appeals to everyone to stop panicking and discover the joy of being alive. ## In the video, the veteran actor says: "Worry should not kill you before a virus kills you... Bloodshot; Cast: Vin Diesel, EizaGonzalez, Sam Heughan, Toby Kebbell, Guy Pearce, Talulah Riley, Lamorne Morris, Johannes Haukur Johannesson, Siddharth Dhananjay; Direction: David SF Wilson; Rating: ** and 1/2 (two and a half stars) ## First-time director David SF Wilson's "Bloodshot" is an origin story of the eponymous superhero, a popular Valiant Comics Character, and revenge propels its plot. Set in an unnamed metropolis of darkly gleaming skyscrapers, the film is surely fun to watch, but it never feels grounded in reality. You never feel like there is anything at stake either because we are given to understand that our hero is invincible. He does not get damaged by virtually anything, so it makes the action sequences that play out feel like a breeze to watch. ## Jumping straight into the action, the story pivots around the tough-as-nails US Marine Ray Garrison (Vin Diesel). After he and his wife are murdered, Garrison is resurrected by a team of scientists working for an organisation called RST, which is spearheaded by Dr. Emil Harting (Guy Pearce). At RST, wounded American soldiers are treated to become "improved, enhanced warriors". Apparently, in this successful project, Ray's blood is replaced with nano-tech bots known as nanites. Enhanced with nanotechnology, he becomes a superhuman, indestructible killing machine. ## As Ray first trains with fellow super-soldiers, he cannot recall anything from his former life. But when his memories flood back and he remembers the man that killed both him and his wife, he breaks out of the facility to get revenge, only to discover that there's more to the conspiracy than he thought. ## For a while, the film toys with not just interesting concepts, but with a sort of meta-playfulness that allows it to poke gentle fun at its own genre before settling tediously back into those tired tropes. The first 30 minutes of the narrative is quite a stretch. It is a long, drawn-out setup for the second act. Once the second act kicks into gear, the narrative vibrates with its convoluted, but entertaining flashes. And the final confrontation in the climax gives you a feeling of deja vu. ## On the performance front, Vin Diesel has his own style, whether he is playing Riddick, Dom Toretto or now Ray Garrison aka Bloodshot. With an imposing physical presence and a voice that either rumbles or roars, his range rarely goes too far. But here, despite the moments of vulnerability and uncertainty, which are a bit off the usual path for Vin, he is implacable as ever. ## Guy Pearce, as the manipulative and egomaniacal Dr. Emily Harting, is himself in just another robotics hybrid with glasses and a God complex. In fact, he is quite unimpressive when he mouths, "I can rebuild all this and you cannot survive without me". Eliza Gonzalez, Sam Heughan and Alex Hernandez as RST's other enhanced wounded warriors, along with Lamorne Morris and Siddharth Dhananjay as the IT nerds Wilfred Wigans and Eric, do their best with thinly-sketched characters who seem to be derivatives of characters seen in other films earlier. ## There are moments when Jeff Wadlow and Eric Heisserer's screenplay appears like an ordinary book adaptation. It borrows chunks from other existing cinematic universes -- namely "Terminator", "RoboCop", "Iron Man" -- to create a universe of its own. ## The script definitely reeks of poor writing especially when there are unintentionally awkward and exemplifying moments intended to inject humour or life lessons. The film falls notches down because of the director of photography Jacques Jouffret's poor cinematography. Mumbai, March 12 (IANS) Actress Kriti Sanon says playing a surrogate mother in the upcoming film 'Mimi' was a journey of self-discovery for her as an actor.## "I had a really nice experience shooting for the film. In fact, I feel this is one of the most beautiful scripts I have read. Sometimes, it happens that certain scenes of a film look really good on paper but you are not able to execute them when you are shooting, and vice versa. But in this film that wasn't the case," said Kriti, at a promotional event on Wednesday in Mumbai.## The actress, who recently wrapped up shooting for the film, added: "If we shot this film as effectively as it looked on paper, credit goes to the whole team and especially (director) Laxman Utekar. This is my second film with him (after 'Lukka Chuppi'). We haven't explored the topic of surrogacy in our films. I like the fact that he (Utekar) has the ability to make an entertaining and humorous film out of a serious topic. I feel it is really important to do that because you are not making a documentary."## The film made Kriti realize how she can function as an actor. "Last (shooting) schedule was satisfying for me as an actor almost like a self-discovery. It made me realize how I can function as an actor. There were a lot of emotional scenes that are almost an experience when you are doing them. So, I can't wait for the audience to actually see this film because it is very close to my heart, no matter what the result is," she said.## "Mimi" is directed by Laxman Utekar and is a remake of the National Award-winning 2011 Marathi film "Mala Aai Vhhaychay!". Chennai, March 12 (IANS) Tamil star Vijay Sethupathi paid a visit to actor Logesh who is currently paralyzed after a stroke and offered him monetary aid.## Logesh, a veejay, and actor, had appeared in a small scene in Vijay Sethupathy's "Naanum Rowdy Dhaan". He was paralyzed after suffering a stroke and his family was in need of financial aid for his surgery. That was when Vijay Sethupathi decided to help.## This is not the first time that the star has pitched in to help people. In 2017, Vijay Sethupathi donated Rs 50 lakh for the education of the needy. He donated the money to 774 Anganvadis in the Ariyalur district and 11 schools for the deaf in Tamil Nadu. He decided to donate the amount in the memory of a late student from Ariyalur district named Anitha, who scored 1,176 out of 1,200 marks in her Class XII State Board examinations but ended her life because of insufficient scores in National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET).## On the film front, Vijay Sethupathi will be making his Hindi film debut in the Aamir Khan-starrer "Laal Singh Chaddha" in December. The actor has reportedly been asked to lose 25 kilos for the role, and he is said to be playing an army man. The role requires him to look fit.## A few weeks ago, Vijay Sethupathi wrapped up the shoot of his film, "Master", which stars Vijay in the lead. Mumbai, March 12 (IANS) Actor Vicky Kaushal initially felt that 'a lanky guy' like him would never be able to make it big in Bollywood, adding that he struggled hard to build his confidence.## "Life has been wonderful, I have learned so much over the period of time. My parents always made sure I am grounded and it's their upbringing which has helped me reach here. While we were growing up, our parents were very clear between necessity and luxury. Luxury was something which Sunny (Kaushal) and I had to earn ourselves," Vicky said, adding: "I struggled to build my confidence at first because choosing acting as a career, appearances needs to be on point. Always thought a lanky guy will never have a chance, but here we are."## Talking about pursuing his passion for acting, Vicky said: "During my engineering tenure, I never thought of being an actor. Visiting an industrial place gave me clear goals and made me realise what I didn't want to do in life. I channelled my thoughts and interest only to realise performing is what I love the most."## "My father was quite astonished when I broke out the news of pursuing acting as a career. He was always of the opinion that one of the family members would have a sedentary life with a desk job paying fixed income on monthly basis and vacationing in Diwali with all the family members," added the son of Sham Kaushal.## Vicky opened up about his life in an episode of "Starry Nights Gen Y", which airs on Zee Cafe.
