'Guilty' director wants everyone to relate to film

BY SACNILK

Mumbai, March 10 (IANS) What happens when a person is accused of a sexual assault allegation as severe as rape? Is he being framed or is he really guilty? This is what Ruchi Narain's latest directorial 'Guilty' deals with. ## "It's the story of a sexual assault allegation. The story is set in a college. A girl accuses a guy of sexual assault, of rape. The story is told from the point of view of his girlfriend, played by Kiara Advani. I wanted to tell the story from her point of view because she has to take into account this allegation but at the same time she knows her boyfriend. That's how the whole story turns out," Ruchi told IANS while talking about the movie, which was released on Netflix a while back. ## We often read in newspapers or watch on crime-based TV shows how an innocent person's life gets ruined if he is falsely accused of sexual assault. Does "Guilty" explore that angle? The filmmaker replied: "Honestly, you will have to watch it to find out. Of course, we have explored that angle as well because that is one of the major scares especially for men that they will be falsely accused. But to know the answer whether it is a false allegation or a genuine case of sexual assault, you have to watch the film." ## Ruchi further said that even though the story is set in a college and revolves around young people, there is no fixed age group for the audience and anyone can watch it. ## "I feel anyone can relate to it. The story is set in a college. It's about young people. But these are issues which affect each and every person, be it young or old, man or woman. All of us have dealt with or questioned this kind of things happening around us all the time. Because there are so many points of view in the story, my endeavour is to make everyone relate to it in someway. That's why I have structured it like this," she said. ## The film features Kiara Advani, Akansha Ranjan Kapur, Taher Shabbir and Gurfateh Singh Pirzada in key roles. ## For more and the latest news about Bollywood, stay tuned to us.

I don't even know if I have a fan club: Varun Badola

BY SACNILK

New Delhi, March 10 (IANS) Actor Varun Badola has been audience's favourite since his hit TV show 'Koshish -- Ek Aashaa', which had premiered in 2000. But he isn't sure if he has fan clubs like other actors do. ## Fans of actors tend to like to see their idols playing similar type of characters. But Varun likes to challenge himself by taking up different acting projects. ## "At the cost of being boastful, I don't know if I even have a fan club. The point is that I am an actor. I decided to be an actor because I love the art. I do acting for my happiness. I try and play different characters. I can't act for my fans' happiness. Hope people understand this in the right context, because I love my work and I do justice to the characters I play," Varun told IANS. ## He is currently seen as Amber Sharma, who is a stubborn straight-forward person, in the show "Mere Dad Ki Dulhan". ## "People like seeing me on TV or films or wherever. If I start acting on their whims and fancies, things will go out of hands. Then you won't be able to do such kind of shows because they have decided in their minds that 'this person should be like this'. Once an actor plays Ram, people are unable to see him beyond Ram," said the "Des Mein Niklla Hoga Chand" actor. ## He feels that as an actor, if you don't have the guts to get out of your comfort zone, "it ain't worth it". "Keep challenging yourself, try to put yourself in situations where you feel you don't have the solution to the problem. The fun is in that only," he added. ## For more and the latest news about TV, stay tuned to us.

Milind Soman talks of his RSS stint as a boy in memoir

BY SACNILK

Mumbai, March 10 (IANS) Model-actor Milind Soman, in his memoir 'Made In India', speaks about being part of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) as a young boy. ## Soman recalls going to the local 'shakha', or training centre, at the Shivaji Park in Mumbai. He writes that his father "was a great believer in the benefits that would accrue to a young boy, in terms of disciplined living, physical fitness and right thinking, from being part of the junior cadres of the RSS", reports theprint.in. ## Soman adds that being part of an RSS shakha was "a very Shivaji Park thing" for a young boy to do back then. ## He writes how "baffled" he feels today when he reads of "all the subversive, communal propaganda the media attributes to RSS shakhas". Adding that his memories "of what went on at the shakhas every evening are completely different", Soman recalls how activities included marching in khaki shorts, yoga, games, camping trips, songs and chanting Sanskrit verses "that we did not understand". ## All activities, Soman recalls, were supervised by a "team of mostly-well-meaning if not always inspirational adults who truly believed they were helping raise good 'civilian soldiers'." ## According to theprint.in, Soman recalls that his father had been part of the RSS himself and was a proud Hindu. "I didn't see what there was to be proud about, but on the other hand, I didn't see that there was much to complain about either," he writes in his memoir. ## For more and the latest news about Bollywood, stay tuned to us.
