Mumbai, June 29, 2021: The International Cricket Council (ICC) confirmed on Tuesday (June 29) that ICC T20 World Cup 2021 will be played in the United Arab Emirates and Oman from October 17 to November 14. It was earlier scheduled to be held in India but due to the covid-19 pandemic, it has been moved out of the country. The BCCI, however, will still be remained the host of the tournament. ## "Our priority is to deliver the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2021 safely, in full, and in its current window. Whilst we are incredibly disappointed not to be hosting the event in India, the decision gives us the certainty we need to stage the event in a country that is a proven international host of multi-team events in a bio-secure environment", said acting ICC CEO Geoff Allardice. ## "The BCCI is looking forward to hosting the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2021 tournament in UAE and Oman. We would have been happier hosting it in India but considering the uncertainty due to the COVID-19 situation and the importance of a world championship, the BCCI will now continue to host this tournament in UAE and Oman", said BCCI president Sourav Ganguly.## For matches to be played, four venues, which have been shortlisted are - Dubai International Stadium, the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi, the Sharjah Stadium, and the Oman Cricket Academy Ground. ## The first round of the tournament, comprising the eight qualifying teams, will be split between Oman and UAE. The four teams progressing to the Super 12s round will be joined by the eight automatic qualifiers. Mumbai, June 13, 2021: Ahead of the World Test Championship Final between Indian and New Zealand, the International Cricket Council (ICC) inducted 10 players from five different eras, dating back to cricket's early days, into the Hall of Fame for their contribution to Test cricket. ## "The 10 legends of the game to be inducted have all made a significant contribution to the history of Test cricket, and join an illustrious list of ICC Hall of Famers, taking the total number to 103 as a result of this intake", the ICC said in a statement.## Among the 10 players, former India all-rounder Vinoo Mankad has also made the cut into the list of Hall of Famer. Manked played 44 Tests for India and scored 2109 runs with 5 hundred and 6 half-centuries between 1956 and 1959. He is famous for his world record-setting opening partnership of 413 runs with Pankaj Roy in 1956, a record that stood for 52 years. ## Manked was a slow left-arm orthodox bowler and took 162 wickets at an average of 32.32, including eight five-wicket hauls. He is one of three cricketers to have batted in every position during his Test career. ## Apart from Manked, Sri Lankan legend Kumar Sangakkara, and Zimbabwe's Andy Flower - two of the most prolific wicketkeeper-batsman in Test history, also included in the list. Sangakkara becomes the only second Sri Lankan after Muttiah Muralitharan whereas Flower becomes the first player from Zimbabwe to make it to the Hall of Fame. ## Among the other inductees are Aubrey Faulkner of South Africa and Monty Noble of Australia for the early era (pre-1918), Sir Learie Constantine of West Indies and Stan McCabe of Australia for the inter-war Era (1918-1945), Ted Dexter of England for the post-war Era (1946-1970). Desmond Haynes of the West Indies and Bob Willis of England were inducted from the ODI era (1971-1995). ## "Vinoo Mankad's legacy has been to tell the aspiring Indian cricketer to believe in oneself", former Indian opener Sunil Gavaskar said on Mankad's induction. "He was a great proponent of self-belief. He was the one who kept saying to me that you need to keep scoring runs and keep at it. When you get a 100, let that be the knock on the selector's door. Mumbai, June 1, 2021: The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced the return of the Champions Trophy which was scrapped after the 2017 edition won by Pakistan, in the next cycle of the Future Tours Programme. The eight-year cycle of the FTP starting from 2024 to 2031, will mark the return of the Champions Trophy after 8 years in 2025. ## The World Cricket Body has also approved 14 teams for the 50-over World Cup and 20 teams for the Twenty20 World Cup. The decisions were taken by the all-powerful executive board meeting of the ICC, which was held virtually on Tuesday (June 1). ## In the 50-over world cup, ICC has decided to follow the 2003 world cup format. The 14 teams will be split into two groups with the top three from each group making it to the Super Six. The four best teams will then proceed to the semi-final followed by the final. A total of 54 matches will be held in the ODI World Cup in 2027 and 2031. ## The T20 World Cup will see the 20 teams split into four groups with the top two teams from each group progressing to the next stage - the Super Eight - which will then be followed by the semifinals and the final. Four T20 World Cups have been scheduled to be held in 2024, 2026, 2028, and 2030, will comprise 55 matches each. ## The ICC has also confirmed that the World Test Championship Final will be played in 2025, 2027, 2029, and in 2031. The hosts of the 12 ICC tournaments for the Men's events will be finalized in September this year with the selection process getting underway this month. ## "Having the ICC event schedule confirmed through to 2031 is a significant step forward for cricket and will form the basis of our growth strategy for the next decade", ICC Acting Chief Executive Geoff Allardice said. "The revised approach to selecting hosts for our events will give us much more flexibility to grow the game and engage new fans.## "There is a smaller pool of countries with the infrastructure needed to host our senior Men's events which narrows the selection process. The International Cricket Council (ICC), on Wednesday (January 27), announced the introduction of the ICC Player of the Month awards which will recognize and celebrate the best performances of both male and female cricketers across all forms of international cricket throughout the year.## An independent ICC Voting Academy comprising former players, broadcasters, and journalists from around the world, will team up with fans to vote for the ICC Men's Player of the Month and ICC Women's Player of the Month.## Among the nominated players, 5 Indian players featured in the list who played a key role in India's back-to-back Test series win in Australia after the recently concluded 4-match Border-Gavaskar series. They are Mohammed Siraj, Washington Sundar, T. The International Cricket Council (ICC), on Tuesday (December 15), announced the revised schedule for the 2022 Women's ODI World Cup which was earlier scheduled to be played in 2021 but had to be postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.## The 8-team 50-over tournament will now begin on March 4 in New Zealand with the opening match to be played between the hosts and Qualifier while the final set to be played on April 3 under lights at the Hagley Oval in Christchurch.## Apart from the host New Zealand, Australia, England, South Africa, and India have already qualified for the tournament while the three remaining teams will be decided from the ICC qualifying tournament which is set to take place June 26-10 July 2021 in Sri Lanka. ## The 8-teams will play 31 matches including the final in 6 cities, such as Auckland (Eden Park), Hamilton (Seddon Park), Tauranga (Bay Oval), Wellington (Basin Reserve), Christchurch (Hagley Oval), Dunedin (University Oval). The semifinals will be played at the Hagley Oval and Basin Reserve.## "The ICC has made a long-term commitment to elevating women's cricket as part of our strategy to grow and develop the global game. The International Cricket Council (ICC) on Tuesday, has nominated Indian captain Virat Kohli and Ravichandran Ashwin for the Men's Player of the Decade Award which will be announced soon. Apart from Virat and Ashwin, Joe Root, Kane Williamson, Steve Smith, AB de Villiers, and Kumar Sangakkara have also been nominated in this category. ## Virat Kohli is the only player who has been nominated in the all five categories announced by ICC. In the Men's ODI Player of the Decade category, former India skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni and run-machine Rohit Sharma also found a place alongside Kohli, Lasith Malinga, Mitchell Starc, AB de Villiers, and Sangakkara.## For the Test cricketer of the decade awards, Kohli got nomination along with 6 others including Steve Smith, and Kane Williamson. India have retained the hosting rights for the men's T20 World Cup in 2021 while Australia will host T20 World Cup in 2022. Both the nations were not able to host the respective tournaments which were originally scheduled to take place in 2020 and 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. ## Meanwhile, Women's ODI World Cup which was slated to be played in New Zealand in February-March 2021, has now been postponed to February-March 2022, the ICC announced on Friday (August 7) after a meeting of the International Business Corporation (the commercial subsidiary of the ICC). ## "We now have absolute clarity on the future of ICC events enabling all of our Members to focus on the rescheduling of lost international and domestic cricket. We will now proceed as planned with the Men's T20 World Cup 2021 in India and host the 2022 edition in Australia," ICC Chief Executive Manu Sawhney said.## Earlier, ICC had announced the postponement of the 2020 edition of the Men's T20 World Cup on July 20 and had also marked a window for the three men's events in 2021, 2022, and 2023. However, a new qualification process will be in place for the Men's T20 World Cup in 2022.## For the Women's 50-over World Cup, five teams had already qualified for the tournament originally scheduled in 2021. The final three teams were to be decided through a qualification competition that was scheduled to be played in Sri Lanka in July 2020 but was postponed because of the pandemic. That qualification event will now be held in 2021 with the ICC yet to decide on the dates.## "We have taken the decision to move the ICC Women's Cricket World Cup to give players from every competing nation, the best opportunity to be ready for the world's biggest stage and there is still a global qualifier to complete to decide the final three teams," Sawhney said.## "There has been no women's international cricket played since the conclusion of the ICC Women's T20 World Cup earlier this year and due to the varying impact of COVID-19 globally, that is likely to remain the situation for a number of the teams. In the view of the big development in the Cricket, on Monday (July 27), the International Cricket Council (ICC) has officially launched the Cricket World Cup Super League which will kick start with the forthcoming ODI series between England and Ireland, beginning on July 30. ## The World Cup Super League which was first announced in June 2018, will be used to determine the qualification scenario for the ICC Men's ODI World Cup 2023 which is scheduled to take place in India in October-November 2023. ## A total of 13 teams (12 Full Members & Netherlands) with each side to play four home & four away 3-match series will feature in this Cricket World Cup Super League. And top 7 teams, besides team India, will secure direct qualification to the 2023 World Cup.## All the 13 teams which will participate in this league, will get 10 points for a win, 5 points for no result, or Tie. On Monday (July 20), the International Cricket Council took an inevitable decision of postponing the upcoming Men's T20 World Cup which was scheduled to be held in Australia from 18 October 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic that brought cricket to its knees earlier this year. ## With the postponement of this year's Men's T2O World Cup, the next two ICC Men's Tournaments have been rescheduled. On Monday's meeting of the IBC Board (the commercial subsidiary of the ICC), windows for the next three ICC men's events were also agreed upon.## The windows for the next three Men's events are as follows:## ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2021 will be held in October-November 2021, with the final on November 14, 2021. ## ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2022 will be held in October-November 2022, with the final on November 13, 2022. ## ICC Men's Cricket World Cup 2023 will be held in India in October-November 2023, with the final on November 26, 2023. ## "The IBC Board agreed to continue to monitor the rapidly changing situation and assess all the information available in order to make a considered decision on future hosts to ensure the sport is able to stage safe and successful global events in 2021 and 2022", the ICC stated in a release.## "The IBC Board will also continue to evaluate the situation in relation to being able to stage the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2021 in New Zealand in February next year. The coronavirus pandemic has not only changed the way of living but also it has forced to make some necessary changes in sports too. Recently, the International Cricket Council (ICC) Cricket Committee has prohibited the use of saliva to shine the ball in a bid to contain the spread of coronavirus when matches resume after the COVID-19 break. ## Team India pacer Jasprit Bumrah, however, raised concern over the ban on saliva and wants the alternative to maintaining the shine of the ball as he thinks that modern-day cricket has become more of a batsman-friendly game. So it will be difficult for the bowlers if there is no alternative option for shining the ball. However, the 26-year old does not have a problem with restrained celebrations as he thinks that he is not the high-five person.## "I was not much of a hugger anyway! And not a high-five person as well, so that doesn't trouble me a lot," Bumrah said on the ICC's video series, Inside Out Interviews with former West Indies pacer Ian Bishop and former South African captain Shaun Pollock. ## "The only thing that interests me is the saliva bit. I don't know what guidelines we'll have to follow when we come back, but I feel there should be an alternative. If the ball is not well maintained, it's difficult for the bowlers".## "The grounds are getting shorter and shorter, the wickets are becoming flatter and flatter. So you feel you are in the game. With no help, you only have few things to play with. So I enjoy bowling most with Dukes ball." My run-up is because of that as we didn't have so much of space, so this (8 step run-up) is the longest that you could have had, maybe this could have been the case. I have tried longer run-up and nothing changes, speed is still the same so why to run so much."## "Basically, I have never been coached a lot. No professional coaching or camps. Till date, everything is self-taught, everything, through TV, videos. There is no proper reason for action. Sachin Tendulkar, the former India captain, and legend of the game has been inducted in ICC's Hall Of Fame along with South Afric's Allan Donald, and Australia's one of the finest women cricketer Cathryn Fitzpatrick on Thursday at a ceremony in London.## Sachin Tendulkar becomes the sixth Indian after Rahul Dravid, Anil Kumble, Kapil Dev, Bishan Singh Bedi, and Sunil Gavaskar to be inducted in Hall Of Fame.## The batting maestro is all-time leading run-getter in international cricket with over 34,000 runs and also has the most number of centuries (100) in international matches (Tests, ODIs, T20Is). He played his last match in November 2013 against West Indies which was the 200th Test match of his career. He has also played 463 ODIs.## "On this occasion, I would like to thank all of those who were by my side over a long international career. My parents, brother Ajit and wife Anjali have been pillars of strength while I was lucky to have someone like coach Ramakant Achrekar as an early guide and mentor," Tendulkar said.## South Africa's Allan Donald, one of the inductees, has picked 330 wickets in Tests and 272 in ODIs. He was arguably South Africa's finest fast bowler. "The biggest shock when you open an e-mail like that - it says congratulations Allan Donald, you have been inducted in the ICC Cricket Hall of Fame! It hits you, it hits you quite hard because it is a prestigious award and something that you can't take lightly. ## I thank the ICC for the huge honor. It all immediately takes you back to where you started. The reflection is of such a nature that everything that you have done in your career since you were a little boy starts to creep into your head.
