Mumbai, February 13 - The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has announced the nominees for the 94th Academy Awards on Tuesday (Feb. 8). Benedict Cumberbatch-starrer "The Power of the Dog" led the show with 12 nominations, including the Best Picture. ## This year, the Best Picture category includes 10 films - "The Power of the Dog", "CODA", "Belfast ", "Dune", "King Richard", "West Side Story", "Don't Look Up", "Drive My Car", "Licorice Pizza", and Nightmare Alley. Among these films, "Dune" is one of the highest-rated movies of 2021 while "Don't Look Up" is on the other side, though it has been hailed for its subject. ## It remains to see which film begs Oscars for the Best Picture, but analysts are predicting that it could be between "Dune", and "Power of The Dog", two of the top-rated movies. On IMDb, "Dune's" rating is 8.1 while "Power of The Dog" is rated with 6.9 ratings. ## Meanwhile, IMDb has released the list of top 10 highest-rated Best Picture Oscars winning movies of all time. "The Godfather" (1972), based on Puzo's best-selling 1969 novel of the same name, lends at the number position with IMDb ratings of 9.2. At the 45th Academy Awards, the film won Best Picture, Best Actor (Marlon Brando), and Best Adapted Screenplay, in addition to 7 other nominations. ## The sequel to "Godfather", released in 1974, is IMDb's 2nd highest-rated movie that won the Best Picture Oscar. The film was nominated for eleven Academy Awards at the 47th Academy Awards and went on to win 6 of them. "The Godfather Part II" also became the first sequel to win the Best Picture Oscar. ## Tom Hanks' comedy-drama "Forrest Gump", which is also being remade in Hindi as "Lal Singh Chadha", starring superstar Aamir Khan, had won the 6 Oscars including Best Picture at the 67th Academy Awards. In the IMDb's list of the Best Picture winners, "Forest Gump" lands at number 5. "Gladiator" ranks number 10 in the list. Chennai, November 12 - Tamil superstar, Suriya is following his own footsteps as far as his movies are concerned. Last year, he created waves with Sudha Kongara-directed "Soorarai Pottru", which was partly inspired by events from the life of Simplifly Deccan founder G. R. Gopinath. The film won accolades and became one of the top-rated films in the world. ## The Singham actor is once again winning praises, this time for his recently released another hard-hitting film "Jai Bhim", in which, he again played a character inspired by the real-life personality. Chandru, "Jai Bhim" follows Senggeni and Rajakannu, a couple from the Irular tribe. Rajakannu was arrested by the police and was later missing from the police station. Senggeni seeks the help of an advocate Chandru to seek justice for her husband. Mumbai, June 12, 2021: IMDb has unveiled its list of the most popular Indian films and web series of the year so far. Even though the cinema halls are closed in most of the states, over 250 Indian films had released between January and April before they shut down. ## Among the titles released in theaters, most of them came from the South Indian film industry. Also, a vast range of content has been released on streaming platforms including films and web shows until June.## The list released by IMDb features titles released between January 1, 2021, and June 3, 2021, and is "based on IMDbPro data on the page views of IMDb users in India". Thalapathy Vijay's "Master" finds itself at the number 1 position as the most popular title of 2021 so far while TVF web series Aspirants ranked second in the list. ## In the top 10 most popular Indian films/shows on IMDb, 7 of them are films and 3 are web series. However, due to the covid-19 pandemic, the movie opted for a hybrid release simultaneously in theaters and on multiple digital platforms via pay-per-view on May 13 in India. Overseas, it still released in theaters.## As expected, a record number of people watched Radhe on ZeePlex and Zee5. Filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt returned as a director after almost 20 years to direct the sequel of his 1991 film, Sadak. Kartoos, that was released in 1999 was the last movie of Mahesh Bhatt as a director before Sadak 2 starring the original cast of Sanjay Dutt and Pooja Bhatt along with the new addition of Alia Bhatt and Aditya Roy Kapur. ## Sadak 2, however, ditched the conventional theatrical release due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and instead, it premiered on the OTT platform, Disney+Hotstar on August 28. Sadak 2 was one of the movies announced by Disney Plus Hotstar on June 29 and was one of the most awaited movies. However, upon its release, it was declared an outright disaster by the critics and the viewers. ## The much-hyped union of the Bhatts with Sadak 2 has proved to be a damp squib. Despite having a talented star cast, this action drama film has now gone on to become the lowest-rated film on IMDb, surpassing the 2015's Turkish film, Code Name: K.O.Z. that rated 1.3 on the website. Sadak 2 currently stands at 1.0 rating after over 56K votes. ## Previously, Sadak 2 had also become the most-disliked movie trailer video on YouTube. The trailer has received over 12 million dislikes till now, in comparison to 707K likes, and the responses to the songs were on similar lines.
