Mumbai, August 1, 2021: It was a memorable evening for India's ace badminton player, Pusarla Venkata Sindhu at the Tokyo Olympics 2020. She has become the first Indian woman and second overall to win two individual medals at the Olympics after defeating China's He Bingjiao 21-13, 21-15 in the bronze medal match on Sunday. ## Sindhu had won a silver medal in the Rio Olympics 2016 after losing in the final to Carolina Marin. Sindhu had earlier lost to world no. 1 Tai Tzu Ying in the semi-final match on Saturday. However, in the bronze medal match, she outshined her Chinese counterpart and becomes only the second Indian after Sushil Kumar to win two individual Olympic medals. ## "It makes me feel really happy because I've worked hard for so many years. Mumbai, July 27, 2021: As theaters have reopened in most of the states of India, Hollywood production house, Warner Bros. has announced the release dates of its three much-awaited films - The Suicide Squad, The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It, and Mortal Kombat, in India. ## "Mortal Combat", and "The Conjuring 3" have already been released in international markets but were delayed in India due to the covid-19 pandemic. These two films will now release on July 30 and August 13 respectively in multiple Indian languages. "The Suicide Squad", however, will release in India on the same date as its international release on August 5. ## Martial arts fantasy film, Mortal Combat, had previously released in India in April in languages other than Hindi. The Suicide Squad and The Conjuring are popular franchises in India and are sure to attract audiences to the theatres on their names. ## "It is heartening to know that Warner Bros Pictures have announced the release dates of Mortal Kombat, The Suicide Squad 2, and The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It. Mumbai, July 16, 2021: The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced the group for the forthcoming Men's T20 World Cup 2021, to be hosted by the BCCI in Oman and the United Arab Emirates from 17 October to 14 November. ## Hosts India has been placed in Group 2 of the Super 12s stage with arch-rivels Pakistan, New Zealand, Afghanistan, and two qualifier teams. England, Australia, South Africa, West Indies, and two more qualifier teams will form Group 1 for the tournament. India, Pakistan in the same group means both teams will face-off for the first time in more than two years, their last fixture having come in the 2019 50-over World Cup.## The ICC announced the make-up of the groups - both for the first round and for the Super 12s stage - for the big-ticket tournament, which will be the first multi-team, a global event organized by the ICC since the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic early last year. However, the schedule of the tournament is yet to be announced. ## Both Sri Lanka and Bangladesh will have to go through the qualifying tournament. Mumbai, May 27, 2021: The Government of India, on February 25, had announced the new guidelines for the digital media platforms including social media and OTT platforms and decided to tighten the grip over them after receiving a lot of complaints against OTTs and social media. ## The Information and Broadcasting Ministry (I&B) minister Prakash Javadekar had told India Today TV that the tightening of rules governing social media and streaming companies was done to stop fake news as these platforms have been subject to misleading their users.## Now, the Information and Broadcasting Ministry has sought details from digital media publishers, including OTT and digital news platforms, to compliance with the new guidelines on digital media ethics, within 15 days of time. ## However, when the guidelines were announced, many people criticized the government saying that the new rules will directly lead to OTT censorship and will harm the freedom of expression. Meanwhile, Prakash Javadekar had defended the rules saying people are happy. ## “People are happy with the guidelines", Javadekar had said while he also dismissed the charge that the stakeholders were not consulted before issuing the guidelines. New Delhi, May 3, 2021: Australian Cricket has offered its support to India in fighting the covid-19 second wave which has created havoc in the country. New Delhi, April 18, 2021, In a recent interview with news agency ANI, India's Union Minister Piyush Goshal talked about oxygen demand by the state government. ## State governments should keep demand (for medical oxygen) under control. Demand-side management is as important as supply-side management. Containing COVID spread is the responsibility of state governments & they should fulfil this responsibility: Union Minister Piyush Goyal ## If cases continue to rise unlimitedly, then it will pose a major challenge for the healthcare infrastructure of the country. We are with the state governments but they need to manage the demand & take concrete steps to contain COVID spread: Union Minister Piyush Goyal to ANI ## We need to use medical oxygen rationally & stop its wastage. Patients should be given the required amount of oxygen only. There're reports of oxygen wastage & about patients being given oxygen even if they don't need it. New Delhi, April 18, 2021, Amid a huge surge in Covid-19 cases in Delhi, CM Arvind Kejriwal calls a press meeting for describing the current situation in the national capital. ## Kejriwal said, "Positivity rate increased from 24% to 30% in last 24 hours. Less than 100 ICU beds left & there's oxygen shortage. Spoke to Dr Harsh Vardhan yesterday & Amit Shah Ji this morning regarding the lack of beds & informed them that we're in dire need." ## Around 25,000 COVID-19 cases reported in Delhi in last 24 hours. There are 10,000 beds in Delhi, incl that of central govt. Of which, 1,800 beds currently reserved for COVID.
