While the film didn't witness a bumper start, the steady upward trend has given it a decent platform as it steps into the crucial weekday phase. After opening to around 8.75 crore net, a slow beginning for a sequel backed by a major star presence, De De Pyaar De 2 managed to recover some lost ground on its second day with a 40% jump, earning around 12.25 crore net on Saturday. The film grossed approximately 3.25 crores on its 36th day, which is an unbelievable collection for any film, let alone a regional title. Directed by Ankit Sakhiya, Laalo has crossed the 50 crores gross mark at the time of writing this piece on its 37th day. The day is heading for 4+ crores gross, which will take its total domestic gross to around 53.50+ crores, making it only the second Gujarati film of all-time to cross the figure after Chaal Jeevi Laiye. The title is based on the historic and cultural Indian city, also known as Kashi and Banaras. The title of the film was launched during the mega event, called GlobeTrotter event, in Hyderabad on November 15. The makers also unveiled a goosebumps-worthy first look glimpse of Mahesh Babu. The glimpse shows Babu riding a large white Nandi (Bull), kicking up clouds of sand behind them, in a dramatic, action-packed scene set in a dusty, temple-filled backdrop. Hera Pheri 3 or Bhoot Police 2: Which Is Priyadarshan's Next Directorial? Even though it was already reported, the first glimpse and the title have confirmed that Varanasi is inspired by Hinduism. As per the info received, it is said that the film is based on the concept of time travel, set both in the ancient and modern world, which was also hinted at with the first look posters of Priyanka Chopra, who plays the female lead, and Prithviraj Sukumaran, who is the main antagonist.
