Sunrisers Hyderabad fixed a date with Chennai Super Kings in the final of VIVO IPL 2018 after they beat Kolkata Knight Riders by 13 runs in the second qualifier at historic Eden Gardens, Kolkata on Friday (May 25). It was Rashid Khan again who snatched the win from KKR's hand. First with the bat (34* off 10 balls) and later with his magical hands.## In this all-important qualifier, KKR put SRH to bat first. SRH, despite suffering middle-order collapse, put 174 on the board. Thanks to Rashid Khan's blitzing knock. In reply, KKR off to a flying start and scored 67 in first 6 overs. But once Rashid came into the attack he pulled KKR on the back foot by picking Uthappa, Lynn, and Russell. They could not recover from this and manage only 160 for 9 after 20 overs.## Kuldeep ruined SRH's solid start## After putting to bat first, SRH started off well. Shikhar Dhawan and Wriddhiman Saha added 56 for the first wicket before Kuldeep Yadav brought into the attack and dismissed Dhawan on his first ball and three balls later, skipper Kane Williamson became his second victim in that over. Dhawan scored 34 off 24 balls while Williamson could manage only 3 off 3 balls. Saha and Shakib Al Hasan tried to recover but this time Piyush Chawla did damage to SRH by picking Saha. Saha tried to step down but missed the completely as Dinesh Karthik did the rest behind stumps.## However, Shakib and Deepak Hooda tried to bring back SRH into the game by adding 29 for the 4th wicket. But once Shakib (28 off 24 balls) got out on 113, SRH lose their way and reduced to 138 for 8 after 18.1 over.## Rashid came to rescue with a blitzing knock## When Rashid came to bat, SRH were 134 after 17.5 overs. He started his inning with a four to Prasidh Krishna and followed with two sixes to Shivam Mavi in 19th over. He didn't stop there as he hammered two sixes and a four to Prasidh in last over and gave SRH a very good total to defend.## Kuldeep Yadav and Sunil Narine were the stars with the ball. Yadav who conceded 29 runs in 4 overs and picked two wickets while Narine finished with 1 for 24 in his 4 overs of spell.## Narine, Lynn started in fifth gear## In reply of 175, Narine and Chris Lynn gave KKR a flying start. Narine played the way he had been playing in this IPL. Scored 26 off 13 balls before Siddarth Kaul got him. However, Lynn didn't affect from Narine's wicket and kept playing his shots. Nitish Rana also joined the party with Lynn and hit 2 sixes to Khaleel Ahmad, who was playing his first match of the IPL 2018. Both took KKR to 87 before Nitish Rana got run out after scoring 22 off 16 balls.## Rashid, Shakib scripts KKR's middle order collapsed## KKR's middle order completely demolished by Rashid and Shakib. First Uthappa, who tried to reverse sweep against Rashid but missed out completely as the ball hit to the stumps. Skipper Karthik this time could not anything for his team as he was bowled out by Shakib in trying to cut the ball. Two balls later Rashid grabbed big fish as Lynn got out LBW. He made 48 off 36 balls.## Now, Andre Russell remained the only hope for KKR but he was caught out in slip by Shikhar Dhawan off Rashid Khan. With the wicket of Russell, KKR almost had lost the match.## Gill kept KKR in the hunt but SRH came out on top## When KKR lost all their hopes of winning this game, Shubhman Gill kept them in the race till the last over. But his innings was cut short by great bowling from SRH. Rajasthan Royals' journey in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2018 had been ended after they lost to Kolkata Knight Riders in an eliminator round by 25 runs at packed Eden Gardens, Kolkata on Wednesday (May 23). However, Rajasthan Royal had their chance to win this game especially after they were in the dominating position on 109 for 1 after 14 overs in reply of 170 runs.## Rajasthan Royals hadn't put their foot wrong till the 14 over of their innings. But it was a shame that they could not cross the line despite playing their one of the best games in this IPL.## "Disappointed, especially given how we started, taking 4-5 wickets early. That partnership (Karthik and Gill) and the dropped catch of Russell hurt us. When you get the start like that, you generally look to win the game. I think KKR bowled really well. They know the conditions really well. It was gettable. They were 10-12 runs short. It's important to finish the games and we didn't have partnerships towards the end" ## "When I and Sanju were batting, we were looking to play positively. I told him during the second time that I will go after the bowlers and that you bat through. But unfortunately, he got out. I think overall we played good cricket. Our bowling unit fantastic this season. Need to improve our batting and fielding," said Rahane in the presentation ceremony.## Rajasthan Royals were provided with a solid start by skipper Ajinkya Rahane and Rahul Tripathi. Krishanppa Gowtham could have been that man who had a strike rate of 196.87 in this season. But Heinrich Klaasen walked out instead. The decision backfired RR as Klaasen could score run a ball 18.## "I think if you see, Klaasen is a really good batsman and he did really well in the last game. It is difficult when you get those runs...you try and think what if you had sent Gowtham at that number. We sent Klaasen...yes he tired his best but again KKR bowlers, especially the spinners, were really good," said Rahane in post-match conference.## "I think with our batting line-up, we wanted to go deep. When I and Sanju were batting, we wanted to go deep and if Klaasen can come when they have seven or eight overs left, I think that was a perfect opportunity for him. Unfortunately, we didn't cross the line but I don't think our strategy was wrong there. I think KG's batting position he batted well at number 6 or 7," Rahane offered.## On the other hand, Kolkata Knight Riders now will play against Sunrisers Hyderabad in the second qualifier on Friday, May 25 at the same venue. Kolkata Knight Riders became the third team after Sunrisers Hyderabad and Chennai Super Kings to reach into the playoffs after they beat table toppers Sunrisers Hyderabad by five wickets at Rajiv Gandhi Cricket Stadium, Hyderabad on Saturday (May 19). They have now 16 points in 14 matches and likely to remain on 3rd spot. On the other hand, SRH will finish on the top spot despite losing their last three games.## The Dhawan-Goswami show## SRH, after winning the toss had opted to bat first. Alex Hales had dropped from this match and therefore Shreevats Goswami came out to open with Shikhar Dhawan. Dhawan (50) and Goswami (35) put KKR under pressure with a 79-run opening stand for the first wicket. KKR's bowling continued to struggle up front as Goswami took 20 runs off Andre Russell in the third over of the innings and gave SRH innings momentum.## The Duo also going with the healthy run rate before Kuldeep Yadav provided a much-needed breakthrough to KKR by dismissing Goswami caught at long on.## Williamson played a blitz before Narine and Krishna hit them back## After wicket of Goswami, inform Kane Williamson came to the crease and started his innings with a first ball boundary to Yadav. With this win, KKR have strengthened their chances to qualify for the playoffs.## Buttler-Tripathi started in fifth gear## After putting to bat first, Jos Buttler and Rahul Tripathi nearly took the game away from KKR. After watchful first over of Mavi, Rahul decided to go after Prasidh Krishna in next over where he hit a six and followed up with three back to back boundaries. Tripathi collected 19 from Prasidh over before Buttler scored 28 runs from Shivam Mavi's over including 2 sixes and 4 fours. Tripathi continued this momentum with a boundary to Sunil Narine in 4th over and collects 10 from that over. The duo put on the 63-run stand before Tripathi fell in trying to play pull to Andre Russell.## Kuldeep and poor shot selection scripted famous collapse of RR## After scoring 68 for 1 in first six overs, Royals were looking all set for the big score before Kuldeep Yadav destroyed RR's batting line-up. It was also the poor shot selections hurt RR as skipper Ajinkya Rahane bowled out by Yadav in trying to play the reverse sweep.
