Suriya's 'Etharkkum Thunindhavan' New Release Date Revealed

Chennai, January 26 - Suriya's first big-screen release after two back-to-back direct OTT premieres, "Etharkkum Thunindhavan" has been delayed due to the 3rd covid-19 wave. The action-thriller, written & directed by Pandiraj, was supposed to release on February 4 this year. ## According to Only Kollywood, Sun Pictures has pushed the film by a couple of weeks and the movie will now release on either February 17th or 18th. Even though the 3rd covid wave isn't as serious as the 2nd wave, the state government has imposed a weekend curfew to curb the spread of the virus. It was a wise move to push the release of ET by two weeks as makers are hopeful that the situation will be normal by then. ## "Etharkkum Thunindhavan" is Suriya's 40th film. It marked Suriya's 3rd collaboration with Sun Pictures after Ayan (2009) and Singam (2010) while Pandiraj earlier worked with Suriya, whose production company 2D Entertainment had backed his projects "Pasanga 2", which had the latter playing a supporting character and Karthi's "Kadaikutty Singam".## Suriya's 1st film as a lead hero with Pandiraj, "Etharkkum Thunindhavan" has a huge cast in place including Priyanka Arul Mohan, who plays the female lead alongside Sathyaraj, Vinay, and others. The film's music is composed by D. Imman, whilst cinematography was handled by R. Rathnavelu.## Meanwhile, Suriya also has a film with director Vetrimaaran titled "Vaadivaasal". This Kalaippuli S. Thanu production will begin filming soon. The actor also has a film with director Bala. He will produce the film and also play the lead role. ## Stay tuned...

Dil Raju Reveals Big Release Date Plans Of 'Thalapathy 66'

Chennai, January 24 - Tamil superstar Thalapathy Vijay was the first A-Lister of Indian cinema to release his film "Master" in theaters during the covid-19 pandemic last year. The movie proved to be a mega-hit in theaters, even though it was made available on OTT 16 days after its theatrical release.## There is no doubt that Thalapathy Vijay is the most bankable actor in Tamil cinema and expectations from his next movies are sky high. The actor recently completed the shoot of director Nelson Dilipkumar's "Beast". The action thriller carries a huge buzz among trade and movie lovers. This Sun Pictures production is scheduled to release in April 2022. ## Meanwhile, the "Bigil" star has started prepping for his next, which is going to be Tamil-Telugu bilingual movie. It is said to be the finest film, to be produced by Vamshi Paidipally, in Vijay's career. Dil Raju, who will be producing this mega-budget action drama film, said in a recent interview that Thalapathy Vijay has really liked the script and called it the best in the last 20 years. ## Dil Raju also has some big plans for the release of "Thalapathy 66". The "Maharshi" producer, who is also producing Ram Charan and Kiara Advani's upcoming film "RC 15", revealed that he has two release dates in mind for Vijay's film, which will be finalized according to the covid-19 scenario in the country. Though "RC 15" is currently slated for Sankranthi 2023 release, this slot might be taken by "Thalapathy 66", if the movie failed to meet the Diwali 2022 timeline due to the covid. ## "Vamshi has come up with a beautiful storyline. When I listened to it, I loved it. Vijay listened to the story and said that he hasn't heard a story like this in 20 years. When a star says this, it gives you confidence. The film's shooting will begin in March. If there are no delays due to Covid-19, then the film will release on Diwali. If it misses Diwali, it will release on Sankranti 2023", Dil Raju said in a recent interview with a Telugu television channel.## There have been reports stating that some of the noted actors and a top-notch technical team will be associated with the project. However, there is no official confirmation regarding the rest of the cast and crew. One can expect the official announcement around March this year once the shoot commences.## Stay tuned...

Thalapathy Vijay's 'Beast' To Lock Horns With 'KGF 2' And 'Laal Singh Chaddha'

Chennai, January 22 - If all goes as per plans, the month of April 2022 will see a mega clash at the Indian box office. Aamir Khan Productions, yesterday clarified that "Laal Singh Chaddha" will arrive on April 14, 2022, as scheduled contrary to the reports of its postponement. ## The release of "Laal Singh Chaddha" will meet the much-anticipated Pan-India biggie, Yash-starrer "KGF: Chapter 2", which was long ago announced for that date. And now, Thalapathy Vijay's keenly-awaited Tamil blockbuster "Beast" is also looking for the same window. ## Directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, "Beast" hasn't set an exact release date, but it has been announced for April release. Industry sources have said that it will be released on April 14, thus confirming the blockbuster clash with KGF 2 and LSC at the box office.## However, if all three biggies decide to come out on the same date, it will be "KGF 2", which will be affected the most. Being a Pan-India film, the movie is carrying a lot of anticipation and eyeing to be a potential highest-grosser of the year. In the scenario of the clash, its chances will get a dent due to screen sharing with the other two. ## Aamir Khan's "Laal Singh Chaddha" is an outright Hindi film and is expected to do well despite the clash with "KGF 2". However, it will have a share screen which might reduce its overall box office potential. On the other hand, "Beast" too, is unlikely to affect despite the clash. But again, just like LSC, it will also have to share the screen in Tamil Nadu.## Stay tuned...

AVPL was the highest-grossing South Indian film of 2020 which was directed by Trivikram Srinivas.## After "Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo", Manish Shah has plans to release Ram Charan and Samantha Ruth Prabhu's "Rangasthalam" (2018). This Sukumar-directed is one of the highest-grossing Telugu films of all time. His "Sura", "Theri", and "Thuppakki" are quite popular on satellite in Hindi, so it won't be a bad idea to release Hindi versions of his blockbuster films in theaters.## Stay tuned...

Ram Gopal Varma On Celeb Divorces: 'Nothing Murders Love Faster Than Marriage'

Chennai, Jan 18 (IANS) Stating that nothing "murders" love faster than marriage, famed director Ram Gopal Varma on Tuesday said that the secret of happiness was to keep loving as long as it remained and then move on instead of getting into "a jail called marriage".## Taking to Twitter, RGV put out a series of tweets on love and marriage.## He said, "Star divorces are good trendsetters to warn young people about the dangers of marriages. Nothing murders love faster than marriage. Smart people love and dumbos marry.## "Only divorces should be celebrated with sangeet because of getting liberated and marriages should happen quietly in process of testing each other's danger qualities. Carbon Review: A refreshingly fresh investigative thriller that impresses Kollywood

Carbon Review: A refreshingly fresh investigative thriller that impresses

Film: Carbon (Releasing in Theatres). Duration: 125 minutes.## Director: Srinuvasan. Cast: Vidhaarth, Dhanya B., Marimuthu and Munar Ramesh.## IANS Rating: ***1/2## Director Srinuvasan's 'Carbon' is a refreshingly fresh investigative thriller that keeps you hooked from start to finish, thanks to an innovative plot that has some really interesting twists right till the very end.## The film's story revolves around Shankar (Vidaarth), a wannabe policeman who ends up taking up a job in a private firm because of a quarrel with his dad (played by Marimuthu).## Shankar has a strange gift. He often has dreams and more importantly, his dreams come true. One night, the man dreams of his dad being hit by a black SUV. The nightmare leaves him shaken. He wakes up breaking into a sweat and frantically begins to search for his dad only to realize that he has had an accident just as he had dreamed.## Shankar rushes his unconscious dad to the hospital, where doctors tell him that it's imperative that they perform a surgery that is going to cost him a fortune. The only way out for Shankar will be to find the person responsible for the accident and claim the insurance amount.## With the cops not making any serious effort to find the driver of the vehicle, Shankar realizes he will have to carry out the investigation himself.## It is at this point that one night, sitting beside his dad's bed, he dozes off out of sheer exhaustion. That's when he has a dream in which he sees the SUV that caused the accident. The door of the SUV opens and just as the driver is to get out, Shankar is woken up by the woman who cleans the hospital ward.## In the desperate hope that the same dream could reappear if he did all the tasks that he did that particular day, Shankar attempts a repeat the next day.## Things don't work out initially and the dream does not appear. Waiting for the dream to recur, Shankar, with the help of his sharp sense of observation, realizes that it was not just a hit-and-run case; it was actually an attempt to murder his dad. Who would want to murder his dad and why would they want to do it? Does Shankar find out the criminal? And does he save his dad? 'Carbon' gives you the answers.## The film is a gripping thriller and full marks to director Srinuvasan for having told the story in a neat and compact manner. Half of the credit for the film being tight and gripping should go to editor K.L. Praveen for his brilliant cuts. There are absolutely no unnecessary scenes and the story moves at a blistering pace, right from the word 'go'.## Within the first 10 minutes of the film, the director showcases the strong bond of love between the father and son, who despite not being on talking terms with each other, deeply care about one another. And within the same period, he also explains everything about Shankar's dreams and their tendency to come true.## Sam CS's background score provides ample support to the director who is looking to narrate a gripping thriller. His score captures the mood and amplifies it, making sure the audience has no trouble in understanding the emotion the director is looking to convey.## Vidhaarth as Shankar is just outstanding in the film, which incidentally happens to be his 25th. He plays the part to perfection and wins your heart hands down.## Dhanya B, who appears in the film just before the intermission, is perfect for the role and delivers a commendable performance. The reason why the second half is as intense as the first is primarily because of Dhanya's characterization and contribution.## Maarimuthu as Vidhaarth's dad delivers a commendable performance. The care and concern that he showcases while appearing to be strict to his son is just so adorable.## Director Srinuvasan, while narrating a thrilling entertainer, also actually highlights a fact that Tamil cinema has often chosen to misinterpret. It looks to set the record straight with regard to dad-son relationships and highlights that for every son his dad is a hero. And that invariably, sons love their dads as much as their mothers, if not more.## Some of the dialogues in the film are deep and hit the nail on the head. For instance, there is this scene in which the heroine asks the hero, "Sons are supposed to be close to their mothers. You seem to be different." To this, the hero replies, "When a man's mother passes away, her place is filled by his wife. But when a man's dad passes away, that place remains vacant. This is why sons miss dads a lot more than their mothers. The position that dads hold in a son's life is special".## It is not as if the film has no problems. There are some lapses in logic towards the end of the film. Also, the manner in which cops are showcased in the film dents the realism somewhat. But these are small lapses that can be forgiven.## On the whole, 'Carbon' is a good, neat, sleek investigative thriller that is definitely worth your time.## Stay tuned...

Chennai, Jan 14 (IANS) Actor Dulquer Salmaan, who has sung the song 'Achammillai' for his upcoming Tamil film 'Hey Sinamika', is believed to have recorded the energetic rap number in a matter of just an hour and a half.## Before singing the song, Dulquer got his Tamil pronunciation right with lyricist Madhan Karky, post which he was ready for the recording.## Talking about the recording, debutant director Brinda Master said: "I was clear from the beginning that I wanted Dulquer to sing this song. But our music composer Govind Vasantha and I were also a bit apprehensive because Dulquer, though he is a good singer, has never sung in Tamil before and the lyrics are a bit tough and the pace of the song is very fast.## "But when we suggested to Dulquer that he should sing this song, he agreed readily. The song required a swag and attitude, which only professional rappers can exude, but Dulquer managed to do so with ease. Dulquer has sung the song with gusto and has put his full energy and soul into it".## As a treat to all Dulquer fans, the makers decided to release the lyrical video of the song on Friday.## 'Hey Sinamika' marks the directorial debut of ace choreographer Brinda Master and stars Dulquer Salmaan, Aditi Rao Hydari, and Kajal Aggarwal in lead roles. The movie is slated for release in cinemas on February 25.##
