Shah Rukh Khan's Spy Actioner 'Pathaan' To Become The First Indian Film To Release In ICE Theater Format

Mumbai, December 25 - Yash Raj Films is gearing up to kickstart 2023 by releasing one of its biggest films, Pathaan starring Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan in the title role. The movie is a part of YRF's ambitious spy universe and it also stars Deepika Padukone and John Abraham in prominent roles along with the cameo of Salman Khan as Tiger.## "Pathaan" is scheduled to release on January 25, and to make the theater experience memorable for audiences, YRF will also release the movie in ICE theater format. PVR Cinemas, India's largest film exhibitor in partnership with French exhibitor CGR Cinemas, recently opened India's first premium ICE Theatres auditorium in two of its leading cinemas in Delhi NCR. Pathaan will be the first Indian film to release in this format.## "Yash Raj Films has been the front-runner to adopt path-breaking technology that pushes the envelope to give audiences an immersive movie-going experience. We are proud to announce that Pathaan will be the first Indian film to release in ICE format to give audiences an immersive experience", says Rohan Malhotra, Vice President, Yash Raj Films.## The ICE theater format includes side panels which along with the main screen, create a peripheral vision, giving a sense of enhanced immersion with a background contrast of colours and motion. Hollywood films like Doctor Stange 2, The Batman, Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore, Top Gun: Maverick and Morbius have been released in ICE THEATERS in this high-end format. ## The PVR ICE theater is currently screening James Cameron's sci-fi epic "Avatar: The Way of Water". Box Office: Cirkus First Saturday Early Estimates

Mumbai, December 24 - Cirkus, which had poor collections on its opening day as it collected just 6.75cr net, remains flat on its first Saturday with little to nothing growth.## The movie scored an estimated 6.75-7 crores net and in an ideal case scenario, the second-day number should have been twice or thrice higher than what it is collecting now. The biggest shocker for the film is that Mumbai, Pune, and Thane all these places which do blockbuster business for Rohit Shetty films are seeing awful collections.## The first Saturday collections will take the first two days' collections of "Cirkus" to around the 13.50 crores net box office mark which should have been the opening day collections of the film. Tomorrow is a huge national holiday and if Circus fails to see huge growth then the film is likely to be a disaster which will be the first for Rohit Shetty who has an incredible career as a director with a close to 90% success ratio. ## There is a huge week full of holidays to follow which would have helped the film but seeing limited growth on the second day indicates that the Circus is a rejected film. Varun Dhawan Opens Up On The Box Office Performance of 'Bhediya'

Mumbai, December 24 - Varun Dhawan was recently seen in Maddock Films' creature comedy Bhediya, co-starring Kriti Sanon as the female lead. The actor had undergone rigorous prep sessions to step into the shoes of a man slowly turning into a mythical wolf. ## "Bhediya" was shot in real locations and was mounted on world-class VFX shots. However, despite all the efforts by the makers, the film couldn't bring in the makers of the number had thought at the box office. It grossed approx. 93 crores at the global box office, including approx. 77 crores in India.## Varun Dhawan, during a recent interview, expressed his views on the film's box office performance and said, "It has been such a strange year, (with films) trying to get people back to theatres. I expected Bhediya to do better box-office numbers than it did. Having said that, I am grateful that people have seen the film in cinemas and its collection is higher than that of many. It tells you that you should try and do better". ## Despite the underperformance of "Bhediya", Varun Dhawan said that he was creatively satisfied with it and would love to experiment in the future as well.## "Bhediya" was Varun Dhawan's second release of the year. Earlier, he was seen in Dharma Productions' "Jugjugg Jeeyo", which did fairly well at the box office and grossed over 130 crores worldwide. Mumbai, December 23 - The last big release of the year for the Hindi film industry, "Cirkus" has been released today at the box office. The film was much anticipated as it stars Ranveer Singh and it is directed by Rohit Shetty who is probably the most successful director of the last 15 years. The film has been made on a huge scale and also the first film of this actor-director combo Simmba became a blockbuster at the box office so it was carrying tremendous expectations. ## Cirkus opened to lukewarm response in the morning shows all over the country which was expected from the advance booking of the film as the advances were the lowest of all the major releases of 2022. But generally, Rohit Shetty's films open well at the box office, especially in Mumbai and Gujarat circuits as his films give the local Maharashtrian vibes but this time even Mumbai and Gujarat have seen dull occupancies throughout the day which is nothing but a shocker for the Industry.## As per the early estimates, "Cirkus" has scored around 7.00 crores net which is average collections but when you bring the scale and budget of the film into consideration then the opening is poor. Mumbai, December 22 - Blockbuster Bollywood filmmaker, Rohit Shetty has responded to the unfair criticism the Bollywood film industry is receiving for its failure at the box office. The industry has gone through a rough phase over the last couple of years due to the covid-19 pandemic as films have failed to make a mark barring a few blockbusters.## There have been films this year that were expected to perform well, but couldn't spread magic at the box office. Mumbai, December 20 - Book My Show, the leading ticketing platform in India, has unveiled the list of the top ten movies with the highest number of tickets sold on its platform in 2022. This year, the Indian film industry witnessed some of the biggest all-time blockbusters which scored huge collections at the box office. ## BMS didn't reveal the number of tickets sold but confirmed that Kannada biggie KGF: Chapter 2 led its ticket counts in 2022. The Yash-starrer is the highest-grossing Indian film of the year with over 1200 crores at the global box office. The movie scored an all-time record of selling 2.1 million tickets in a single day on BMS. ## SS Rajamouli's path-breaking period action drama film RRR is the second most-watched Indian movie this year, and also sold the second-highest number of tickets on BMS. The Jr. NTR and Ram Charan-fronted has so far grossed over 1140 crores at the worldwide box office and is the second highest-grossing Indian movie of the year. ## Hombale Films has been the most profitable production company of 2022 and along with "KGF 2", the studio's Kantara stunned everyone with its phenomenal box office run globally. Made on a budget of approx. 16 crores, the Rishab Shetty-starrer grossed approx. 410 crores worldwide and is at number 3 on BMS in the ticket sold. ## Vivek Agnihotri's drama The Kashmir Files, which shocked the nation by showing one of the darkest chapters of Indian history, scored the 4th highest number of tickets sold on BMS. The movie grossed over 335 crores worldwide against a budget of around 20 crores and is currently the second highest-grossing Bollywood movie of 2022. ## Mani Ratnam's Ponniyin Selvan Part - 1, which grossed approx. 490 crores worldwide, is at number 5 on BMS. Director Ayan Mukerji's ambitious Brahmastra Part One: Shiva sold the 6th highest number of tickets and grossed approx. 431 crores globally. Considered one of the greatest films of all time, the comedy-drama was headlined by Sanjay Dutt with Arshad Warsi playing the supporting role. ## Sanjay Dutt played the role of a lifetime as Murliprasad Sharma aka Munna Bhai, however, he was not the first choice for the role. During a recent interview, director Hirani revealed that it was Anil Kapoor who was his first choice before it was offered to Shah Rukh Khan, and then finally, Sanjay Dutt was picked for it. ## Hirani revealed that it was producer Vidhu Vinod Chopra who suggested him to approach Shah Rukh Khan to play the role of Murli Prasad Sharma. The filmmaker said that being a newcomer, he was not sure whether SRK would do a film with him as King Khan was already an established star in the industry. ## The filmmaker further said that he approached SRK and wished to narrate the story, but since the actor was busy with "Devdas", he asked him to leave the script behind. When SRK read the script he liked it and called Hirani the next day to meet him.## Shah Rukh Khan agreed to do the movie but then a problem arose. Rajkumar Hirani stated, "This was a time when he (SRK) had to fly to London for his neck surgery. Mumbai, December 9 - Director Nitesh Tiwari's live-action epic Ramayana, which was announced many moons back, has been the talk of the town over the last few years. The planned trilogy has been in the pre-production work for a long time and makers are taking enough time in the research work, thus the filming is getting delayed. ## The pre-production work of "Ramayana" has moved rapidly over the last few months and the makers are making sure it goes on floors sooner than later.
