India, Pakistan Placed In The Same Group As ICC Announced T20 World Cup 2021 Groups

Mumbai, July 16, 2021: The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced the group for the forthcoming Men's T20 World Cup 2021, to be hosted by the BCCI in Oman and the United Arab Emirates from 17 October to 14 November. ## Hosts India has been placed in Group 2 of the Super 12s stage with arch-rivels Pakistan, New Zealand, Afghanistan, and two qualifier teams. England, Australia, South Africa, West Indies, and two more qualifier teams will form Group 1 for the tournament. India, Pakistan in the same group means both teams will face-off for the first time in more than two years, their last fixture having come in the 2019 50-over World Cup.## The ICC announced the make-up of the groups - both for the first round and for the Super 12s stage - for the big-ticket tournament, which will be the first multi-team, a global event organized by the ICC since the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic early last year. However, the schedule of the tournament is yet to be announced. ## Both Sri Lanka and Bangladesh will have to go through the qualifying tournament. Sri Lanka has been placed in Group A with Ireland, Netherlands, and Namibia while Bangladesh will face Scotland, Papua New Guinea, and Oman in Group B. It crashed around 1010 hrs near Budgam, J&K. All six air warriors on board helicopter suffered fatal injuries. A court of inquiry has been ordered to investigate the accident. ## MEA: India also strongly objected to Pakistan’s vulgar display of injured personnel of the Indian Air Force in violation of all norms of International Humanitarian Law and the Geneva Convention. ## MEA: It was made clear that Pakistan would be well advised to ensure that no harm comes to the Indian defense personnel in its custody. In this video Wing, Commander Abhinandan is seen sitting on a cot inside a room, sipping from a mug. He is being questioned by someone he identifies as a "major". ## In the second video, Wing Commander Abhinandan says, "The officers of the Pakistan Army have looked after me very well. Sri Lanka and Bangladesh will face each other in the opening match on September 15 as the schedule of Asia Cup 2018 have been announced on Tuesday, July 24. The six-team tournament will be played in the United Arab Emirates.## The teams are divided into two groups. In group A, Afghanistan is paired with Sri Lanka and Bangladesh and in group B, the defending champions India is paired with Pakistan and winner of the qualifiers.## India will play their opening match against the qualifier on September 18 before a much-awaiting clash against Arch-rivals Pakistan on very next day.## As per the new guidelines, the tournament will be played in the ODI format with the 50-over World Cup scheduled to be held next year. The previous tournament in Bangladesh in 2016 was played in the T20 format ahead of the T20 WC.## One team that will finish at the bottom of each group will be eliminated while rest of the teams will be playing against each other in the Super 4 stage.
