Tere Ishk Mein Box Office: Emerges As Dhanush's Biggest Opener Domestically
BY SUNIT JANGIR
Mumbai, November 29 - Dhanush has proved his Pan India worth with director Anand L. Rai's romantic drama Tere Ishk Mein, co-starring Kriti Sanon. Released amid solid anticipation, the film has emerged as the biggest opening of Dhanush's career, surpassing his previous blockbuster. Tere Ishk Mein registered a 19 crore gross (16 crore net) opening in India. Interestingly, it is Dhanush's only third theatrical Hindi film, including his debut title Raanjhanaa (2013), which was also directed by Rai. The film benefited from strong bookings, solid word of mouth, and a powerful nationwide release strategy. The actor's social drama Kuberaa had earlier held the top spot with a 17.25 crore gross opening earlier this year, followed by the gangster thriller Raayan, which scored 15.75 crore gross on Day 1. Dhanush's Pan India appeal also gets proved with the fact that his top 2 openers are non-Tamil films, in Hindi and Telugu, which are not his first languages. The strong debut of Tere Ishk Mein confirms the rising nationwide pull of Dhanush, who continues to expand his box-office presence beyond regional boundaries. Tere Ishk Mein has particularly benefited from its music, pre-release buzz, the fresh pairing with Kriti Sanon, and the successful combo of Dhanush and Rai, drawing significant footfall in both multiplexes and mass circuits. With an excellent start and steady audience reception, the film is now positioned for a robust weekend. Stay tuned...
