We are getting Roman Reigns back to WWE this coming Friday on SmackDown. ## Earlier this evening, WWE announced that Roman Reigns will return to 'Raw', but what about 'SmackDown'? The Reigns will soon return home to the Blue Brand, as The Tribal Chief is advertised for this Friday's episode of "SmackDown"! ## During the July 4th edition of Monday Night Raw, WWE ran multiple video packages, advertising Roman Reigns' return. Brock Lesnar Vs. Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Title has now been added to WWE SummerSlam 2022. ## As noted, Roman Reigns defeated Riddle to retain the Unified WWE Universal title in the main event of Smackdown on June 17th 2022. After the match was over, Brock Lesnar made his first appearance on WWE television since Wrestlemania 38. ## Lesnar offered a handshake to Reigns but then gave Reigns an F5. Lesnar also gave an F5 to The Usos and the announcers teased the idea that Lesnar wants his title back. ## Now it's official, Brock will challenge Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Title in a Last Man Standing Match at SummerSlam. On the June 10 edition of SmackDown, an unofficial member of The Bloodline Sami Zayn went one-on-one against Riddle in SmackDown’s main event. ## If Riddle lost that contest, he would have been barred from the blue brand forever. When he won, however, Riddle earned a Bro-tastic opportunity at Roman Reigns’ Undisputed WWE Universal Title! ## According to the stipulation: If Riddle loses the matchup on Friday night, he will never again be able to challenge the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion again as long as Roman is the titleholder! ## WWE SmackDown 6/17: Roman Reigns Vs. Riddle Full Match ## The Bell rings, Riddle goes right after Reigns with his Forearms and plants him into the ring post, and Reigns retaliates with a big Forearm. Riddle with a Suplex and Reigns rolls out of the ring. Riddle is on the apron and catches Reigns with a Knee as down goes Roman Reigns. ## Riddle with a massive Moonsault off the apron as we go to the commercial break. ## Back from the commercial break...Riddle is still flying with colors, he is killing it at right now. Cole tells us that Roman took control during the commercial break, but Riddle takes it back with punches. Reigns with a big Forearms to take down Riddle. Roman rolls out and comes with a Drive to Riddle. ## Reigns drags Riddle into the middle and gets the cover, but Riddle kicks out. ## Both men are exchanging the blows in the midsection, Riddle takes the lead with a kick to Roman. Riddle catches Roman with an Elbow and goes up to the top to perform a big Floating Bro for near fall. ## Riddle goes for another offense but this time Roman with a Chock Slam, but Riddle is still able to kick...Both are outside of the ring now. Roman slams Riddle onto the table, the referee makes the counts and here we go for another commercial break... ## Back from the break...Riddle is still down in the ring, Reigns is having a pose. Reigns locks unloaded and goes for Superman Punch, but Riddle counters it with a Flying knee and follows up the Randy Orton Slam. Reigns rolls out. ## Riddle plants Reigns through the announce desk...both gets back into the ring. Riddle with a Hung Rope DDT and goes for an RKO, but here comes the Superman Punch, Reigns gets the cover, but Riddle with a Shocking kick out. Reigns is setting up for Spear, holy smock...Riddle gets the RKO, he covers it, but Reigns still kicks out. ## Riddle goes to the turnbuckles for a twisting Moonsault and hits it. As noted, Reigns recently signed a new deal that will reportedly see him work less WWE dates moving forward. ## Per Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, the unified champion is only slated for one episode of Raw over the next few months. Meltzer noted that The only time Reigns is going to be on Raw is the Raw from Madison Square Garden. That’s his only Raw booking, the only time the champion will be on Raw pretty much the whole summer. ## WrestleVotes recently reported that the WWE Championship and Universal Championship were unified with the understanding that Reigns would be appearing on both Raw and SmackDown more regularly. Obviously, that has not been happening. ## Reigns hasn't wrestled since the 5/22 House Show in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Going forward, he would wrestle in very few house shows and about 6 pay-per-view events per year. Bray Wyatt is posting a never-before-seen backstage photo of The Wyatt Family and Roman Reigns. ## Bray Wyatt AKA Windham Rotunda) recently posted a backstage photo alongside his former stablemates, and Roman Reigns posing in the background. ## Wyatt was nice enough to share a never-before-seen photo via Instagram. The photo undoubtedly made him smile and judging by the reactions of many wrestlers and fans, it had an effect on him alike. ## "I just found this picture. I didn’t know I had it, but it really made me smile. I hope it does the same for some of you. #goodbyeforever," he gave the caption. ## One can assume that the photo was taken sometime in 2019 when Wyatt introduced The Fiend personality on WWE TV. Also, this was around the time that Lee and Rowan were in a brief rivalry with Reigns and Brian Danielson. At the 2019 Hell in a Cell, Reigns & Danielson defeated Rowan & Lee in a Tornado Tag Team Match. Lee will be leaving WWE a few months later. ## Bray Wyatt was released from WWE in July 2021. There has been the latest update on why WWE unified their main titles, Roman Reigns working a lot less than anticipated. ## WrestleVotes reports that the WWE Championship and Universal Championship were unified with the understanding that Reigns would be appearing on both Raw and SmackDown more regularly. Obviously, that has not been happening. ## However, Reigns will be on the show this Friday night to defend his title against Matt Riddle. Reigns vs. Riddle was originally scheduled for the Money In The Bank show but Reigns is no longer scheduled to wrestle on that date. ## Reigns hasn't wrestled since the 5/22 House Show in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. A new stipulation has been added to Friday’s WWE Universal Championship match between Roman Reigns and Riddle. ## Tonight’s episode of Raw opened with Paul Heyman who was a special guest on Miz TV. During the segment, Riddle interrupted before he could continue. ## Heyman laid out the stipulation: if Riddle doesn’t beat Reigns on Friday, he won’t receive another title shot as long as Reigns is the champion. ## Riddle won the championship match last week on SmackDown by defeating Sami Zayn. The stipulation for that match was that if Riddle won, he would receive a championship match against Reigns, but if he lost, he would be barred from SmackDown. ## Reigns has not defended the WWE Universal Championship on television since defeating Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 38 to unify the WWE and Universal Titles.
