Mumbai, June 30 - Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan has finally managed to score a success in nearly a decade, with his latest comedy drama Sitaare Zameen Par. This is the actor's first successful film since sports drama "Dangal" (2016) as a lead hero. ## Directed by RS Prasanna, Sitaare Zameen Par had a good second weekend at the domestic box office, scoring approximately 33.50 crores net (40 crores gross), pushing total domestic cume to around 122 crores net (147 crores gross). The drop from the opening weekend (58+ crores net) is around 40%, which can be called a superb hold. ## The movie is going from strength to strength as the movie jumped solidly over the second weekend, despite the competition with new movies. This suggests that the movie has found acceptance among the movie-going audience, which should lead it to a strong finish at the Indian box office. ## While SZP is doing very well domestically, it is also seeing good business at the overseas box office, with an estimated gross of around 50 crores in 10 days so far. The worldwide cume total of the movie is around 198 crores gross, and it will be topping the 200 crores mark on its 11th day. ## Produced by Aamir Khan Productions, SZP is an official remake of the 2018 Spanish film "Champions". It follows a suspended basketball coach who must serve community service by helping a team of players with disabilities prepare for a tournament. Los Angeles, June 30 - Hollywood star Brad Pitt's racing sports drama F1 - The Movie has an excellent opening weekend at the worldwide box office. The movie, directed by "Top Gun: Maverick" director Joseph Kosinski, raced to $144 million global opening weekend. ## Backed by Apple Original Films and Warner Bros. Pictures, F1 minted a fantastic $55.6 million domestically (North America), which is a much bigger opening than the studio's projection of around $35 million. It is one of the biggest openings of the year for an original title. ## Internationally, the blockbuster grossed a huge $88.4 million across 78 markets in the opening weekend, for a worldwide total of $144 million. This is the biggest theatrical debut for Apple Studios. The movie claimed the No. 1 position among U.S. films in 74 out of 78 international territories. ## Among the overseas markets, the United Kingdom was the biggest contributor with $9.2 million opening weekend, followed by China ($9 million) and Mexico ($6.7 million). F1 also exceeded expectations in India, grossing a solid around $3 million (25.50 crores gross) over a 3-day opening weekend. ## The audience reception for F1 is excellent, with a 97% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, while the critics' score is 84%. Mumbai, June 29 - The drama around the hugely anticipated comic caper Hera Pheri 3 continues to unfold. The movie has been in the news for the past couple of years for various reasons. One of the biggest reasons the movie has been in media headlines is the suspense over Paresh Rawal, who is an integral part of this iconic franchise. ## Earlier this year, the movie was confirmed to go on the floors soon, and everyone was excited for the same. However, just when things were looking all good, Paresh Rawal dropped a bomb by announcing his exit from the film, leaving everyone, including fans, hugely disappointed. ## The sudden exit of Paresh Rawal left the makers with no choice but to file a lawsuit against the actor for all the alleged losses incurred due to him. Beyond this legal battle, it was the fans who felt disheartened with the fact that the movie might not be made in the absence of Rawal. ## And just when fans were becoming hopeless, the veteran actor dropped a bomb again, this time to the delight of the fans. During a recent podcast at The Himanshu Mehta Show, Rawal confirmed that all the issues he has had with the Hera Pheri 3 makers have been resolved. ## The actor seemingly revealed the reason behind his exit earlier, as he said that he doesn't want to do the movie just because of the huge hype around it. "There's no controversy. I believe that when people love something so much, then you have to be extra careful. It is our responsibility toward the audience. The audience has given you so much adulation. You can't take things for granted", he said. ## He added, "So, I was of the opinion that sab saath mein aaye, mehnat karein. Aur kuch nahin. It is all resolved now". ## Paresh Rawal went on to add that Hera Pheri 3 will 100% be made and return to the big screen. "It was happening earlier also, but it's just that we had to fine-tune ourselves (laughs). After all, all of them are creative, be it Priyadarshan, Akshay or Suniel. They are friends for many, many, many years", he added. ## The franchise features Akshay Kumar, Suneil Shetty, and Paresh Rawal in the leading roles. Now, the fans are eager for this iconic trio on the big screen soon. Mumbai, June 29 - Superstar Aamir Khan's comedy drama Sitaare Zameen Par has topped 100 crores net collection, becoming the 6th Bollywood movie of the year to do so. The movie achieved the milestone on its 9th day. ## Directed by RS Prasanna, Sitaare Zameen Par has earned approximately 109 crores net in 9 days. It is the 7th movie of Aamir Khan and his first in 7 years to enter the 100 crores net. The actor's last movie to hit the milestone was Thugs of Hindostan. ## Sitaare Zameen Par is overall 131st movie in Hindi to cross 100 crores net collection. Interestingly, it was Aamir Khan's Ghajini, directed by A R Murugadoss, which was the first Indian movie to hit the hundred crore net milestone in 2008. ## Meanwhile, at the worldwide box office, SZP has grossed approximately 165 crores, which makes it the 5th highest-grossing Bollywood movie of the year. Hyderabad, June 28 - It might be a marketing gimmick, the makers declared actor Vishnu Manchu's divotational film Kannappa as an industry hit, only after the first day. This is the first instance when the makers of any film have declared their movie an industry hit, after the opening day itself. ## While the intention behind such a gimmick is unclear, it is probably the silliest thing to do, as in reality, Kannappa will fall way short of the box office mark, which is required to become an industry hit. It is basically a self-trolling act by the Kannappa team, which is strange to even think about. ## As for the box office collection, Kannappa opened to around 11 crores gross at the Indian box office and around 13 crores gross at the worldwide box office. This collection, however, is good for a Vishnu Manchu film. It is, in fact, the biggest opening for the actor. ## The presence of superstar Prabhas played a huge role in the opening of Kannappa, as any sort of buzz the movie was able to generate before the release was due to Prabhas, who played a cameo role alongside Akshay Kumar and Mohanlal. Chennai, June 27 - Superstar Rajinikanth's action drama Coolie with director Lokesh Kanagaraj is easily among the most-anticipated films of the year. It is, in fact, one of the rare Tamil films which is carrying a decent buzz in Hindi markets, thanks to the presence of superstar Aamir Khan. ## The title of the movie as Coolie was gaining a lot of attantion in Hindi market, but, in a strange move, the makers recently renamed the film as Majdoor, in a hope to cater a large section of the audience in North India. This movie, however, backfired as it sparked criticism and trolling from northern audiences. ## Many people felt that the Majdoor title lacks the mass appeal that the original title has. People even started trolling the makers for coming up with such a title, which gave the impression of a normal dubbed South Indian movie and not treating it as a proper Pan India film despite the huge potential. ## The criticism and trolling worked as a much-needed feedback for the makers who have now changed the Hindi version's title to Coolie The Powerhouse. It is said that the makers couldn't use the title as Coolie in Hindi as it is also the title of Amitabh Bachchan's iconic film. ## Coolie is produced by Sun Pictures, and it also stars Nagarjuna, Aamir Khan, Upendra, Sathyaraj, Shruti Hassan, and Soubin Shahir in key roles. Titled Mysaa, the film is written and directed by Rawindra Pulle. ## The first look poster of Mysaa features Rashmika Mandanna in a blood-soaked, fierce and never-seen-before role. The actress calls it a different challenge, as she has never played a character like this before. Bhubaneswar, June 27 – Director Jagdish Mishra's suspense-horror drama Bou Buttu Bhuta, starring Babushaan Mohanty and Archita Sahu, has created history at the box office by becoming the first-ever Odia-language film to cross 10 crores net collection. This remarkable feat cements its position as the highest-grossing Odia film of all time. ## Released on June 12 during the Raja festival, Bou Buttu Bhuta has witnessed a phenomenal run at the box office, driven by strong word of mouth and consistent audience turnout across Odisha. The film opened to packed theatres and has maintained a steady trend even during weekdays — a rarity in regional cinema. ## On its 15th day, the movie officially crossed the 10 crore net mark, becoming a landmark moment for the Odia film industry. The worldwide gross now stands at around 12 crores. ## Bou Buttu Bhuta is the first Odia film to enter the 10 crore club, surpassing earlier record holders like Daman and Karma. Chennai, June 26 - The legendary combo of actor Kamal Haasan and director Mani Ratnam reunited after 4 decades for a gangster action drama film Thug Life. It is among the most anticipated Tamil movies of the year; however, what followed next shocked the trade. ## Released on June 5, the film met with poor reception from critics and the audience. This resulted in a shocking box office performance of the film as it finished below 100 crores gross globally, turning into one of the biggest disasters of the year. ## Before the release of the film, the makers showed immense confidence in it and even publicly announced that it would be released on an OTT platform only after 8 weeks of theatrical release, breaking out from the usual norm of a 4-week window that exists in the Tamil Film Industry. ## The 8-week theatrical window announcement secured the movie's multiplex release in the Hindi version, becoming one of the first major Tamil movies to have a multiplex release in Hindi in recent times. However, the poor performance of the film led the makers to change their plans. ## According to the report by Pinkvilla, the makers have shortened the theatrical window of the movie to just 4 weeks to avoid further losses. The negotiations were made after Netflix, which is the official streaming partner of the movie, decided to reduce the OTT price of Thug Life. ## The movie was initially valued at 130 crore for OTT release, but the poor box office performance caused damage to this. It is said that Netflix was looking to renegotiate the price at 90 crore, but both parties eventually settled down at 110 crore for the digital rights, with a reduced OTT window of 4 weeks, as per Pinkvilla. ## Meanwhile, the reduced theatrical window has resulted in a breach of contract between the producers of Thug Life with the distributor and the national multiplex chains in North India. Chennai, June 26 - Superstar Rajinikanth's highly anticipated action drama Coolie, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, seems to have an uphill task in front of it. The film might need to emerge as the second biggest grosser for the veteran actor, just to become a box office success. ## Coolie is carrying huge expectations of delivering at the box office. The movie is being eyed as the one which has the potential to become the first Tamil movie to enter the 1000 crores club, and hence, it is getting crazy offers for theatrical distribution across the globe. ## Recently, it was revealed that the overseas business of Coolie was locked in the range of 80-85 crores, which is a record for a Tamil title. For Telugu states, the makers have reportedly been offered a huge price of around 45 crores, which is said to be the highest for a dubbed title in recent times. ## The theatrical business of the film for the home market, Tamil Nadu, is expected to be locked in the range of 110 crores, which is again a record. The presence of superstar Aamir Khan has kept the film in talks in the Hindi market as the makers are reportedly expecting 40-50 crores business for North India. ## The overall theatrical business of Coolie will reportedly be in the range of 300 crores, which means the movie will need to gross over 600 crores worldwide in order to emerge as a box office success. It will mostly need to outgross Rajinikanth's Jailer (605 crores gross), which is currently the third highest-grossing Tamil movie of all time, behind Thalapathy Vijay's Leo (606 crores gross). ## While the theatrical business offers for Coolie are eye-popping, it might be a risky bet given the fact that it will have a direct clash with Hrithik Roshan and Jr. NTR's War 2 on August 14. New Delhi, June 26 - Punjabi superstar Diljit Dosanjh's upcoming film Sardaar Ji 3 will not be releasing in India amid the growing controversy over the inclusion of Pakistani actress Hania Aamir in the film. The movie will now only be released outside the domestic market. ## Ever since the trailer of the film has been released, Sardaar Ji 3 is facing the heat as many people and film bodies objected to the casting of Hania Aamir, especially after the recent Phalagam terrorist attack in which Pakistani terrorists were involved in the killing of 26 tourists. ## Many people expressed their anger after the trailer was launched and asked the government to ban the film. Understanding the seriousness of the issue, the makers of Sardaar Ji 3 released a statement, confirming that the film won't be released in India. ## In the statement, the makers stated that " The film was shot well before the prevailing situation that our country is facing now, and it was never ever the case that any Pakistani artist was signed or was engaged after the terrorist attack in Pahalgam". ## Diljit Dosanjh, meanwhile, has backed the decision of makers to not release the movie in India in respect to the sentiments of the people. He also said that a lot of money has been invested in the film; hence, he is with the makers in whatever decision they have made, even though they will lose money for not releasing the film in the home market. ## Sardaar Ji 3 is a horror action comedy, directed by Amar Hundal and produced by Gunbir Singh Sidhu, Manmord Sidhu, and Diljit Dosanjh under White Hill Studios and Story Time Productions.
