Kochi, Dec 29 (IANS) Popular actor Dileep, who is accused in the infamous actress abduction case, on Wednesday suffered a jolt when the police approached the trial court seeking a further probe in the case in the light of new revelations. ## This development came at a time when the trial in the case before a special court here was all set to end shortly. ## The actress was abducted and assaulted in a moving car in Kochi on February 17, 2017, and Dileep was arrested in July 2017 in connection with the case, spending several weeks in jail before securing bail. ## He has been named as a conspirator in the case, being charged with "revenge crime". ## The police filed the petition before the court after film director Balachandra Kumar's disclosure when he said soon after Dileep was released on bail, he saw the visuals of the assault on the actress in the car. ## Kumar also claimed that the visuals were handed over to the actor by a VIP and he was privy to all this. ## Incidentally, till now, it is only the trial court that has seen these visuals and if the statement of Kumar is true, then it is going to be a serious issue. ## Stay Tuned To Sacnilk For More Updates.

Chennai, Dec 28 (IANS) The lyric video of the second single from director Pandiraj's much-awaited action entertainer 'Etharkkun Thunindhavan', featuring Suriya and Priyanka Arul Mohan in the lead, has received a million views on YouTube within 24 hours of having been released. ## Titled 'Ullam Urugudhaiya', the song has been sung by Pradeep Kumar, Vandana Srinivasan and Brindha Manickavasakan and penned by Yugabharathi. ## The number, music for which has been scored by D. Imman, received over 100,000 likes on YouTube. ## Sources close to director Pandiraj, who is known for making light-hearted family entertainers, say that he has come up with an explosive action entertainer in 'Etharkkum Thunindhavan', which has been produced by Sun Pictures. ## The film, which has triggered huge expectations, is scheduled to hit screens on February 4 next year. ##

Varanasi, Dec 28 (IANS) The first edition of the Kashi Film Festival, a joint initiative of the Union Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and the Uttar Pradesh government, began here on Monday night. ## Speaking on the occasion, BJP MP Ravi Kishan said: The three-day film festival, along with the proposed Film City project in Noida, will serve as an effective tool to prevent local talent from venturing outside of Uttar Pradesh in search of opportunities in the creative fields." ## Kishan also defended the timing of the festival's launch and said: "Opposition says this was done with elections in mind. I say it reflects their own thinking. As far as we are concerned, we inaugurate 20 projects a day because that is the amount of work we have done." ## The BJP MP also announced a 'Natya Kumbh', a gathering of 1,800 theatre artists in Gorakhpur early next year, where they will celebrate lesser-known heroes of Indian history under the theme of 'Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav'. ## State Tourism, Culture and Charitable Affairs Ainister and local legislator Neelkanth Tiwari also used the festival stage to assert that Prime Minister Modi has set India on the path to achieving 'Ram Rajya' as envisioned by Mahatma Gandhi, whether it is through the revamped Kashi Vishwanath corridor, the repeal of Article 370, or setting Muslim women "free" from the shackles of triple talaq. ## "Kashi is offering solutions to the problems of the world. When the Prime Minister launched the Kashi Vishwanath corridor, the world was watching. One problem festering for over 500 years was the Ayodhya one, the Prime Minister resolved that too," Tiwari said. ## Lauding the Uttar Pradesh government and Film Bandhu for its effective promotion of the state as a go-to destination for film shooting, Union I and B secretary Apurva Chandra said the idea of hosting the Kashi Film Festival was conceived at the International Film Festival of India in Goa in November, keeping in mind rich contribution to the world of cinema. ## Veteran film actor Anupam Kher said the cinema was for the world and that creative talent should not limit themselves to geographies. He said the Kashi film festival will provide a platform to local talent from which to travel the world. ## Additional Chief Secretary Navneet Sehgal also said an investor's summit hosted by the Uttar Pradesh government in Mumbai had suggested that nearly 60 per cent people working in the Bollywood film industry in various capacities were from the state. ## "This festival is an opportunity to promote local traditions and cultures in continuation of the Prime Minister's efforts to improve Varanasi," he said. ## The inaugural festival also saw performances by actor Manoj Joshi, singer Kailash Kher and stand-up comedian Raju Srivastava. ## The National Film Archives of India has showcased posters of 60 iconic Indian films - ranging from Satyajit Ray's 'Joi Baba Felunath' to 'Ram Teri Ganga Maili' - shot in Varanasi. ##

Chennai, Dec 27 (IANS) Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin on Monday paid homage to well-known Tamil film singer and actor Manikka Vinayagam, who passed away on Sunday night after suffering a cardiac arrest. ## The 73-year-old singer, who has sung over 800 film songs and over 15,000 devotional numbers, was the son of legendary Bharathanatyam teacher Vazhuvoor B. Ramaiah Pillai. ## Sources say the singer was unwell for sometime and had been receiving treatment at a private hospital in the city. ## Stalin, along with his wife Durga, paid homage to the late singer at his residence on Monday morning. ## The singer is known for his distinct, powerful voice that enabled several numbers like 'Kannukkulla Kelathi' from Vikram's 'Dhill' and 'Koduva Meesai' from 'Dhool' to emerge as chartbusters. ## The Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, in his condolence message, said that he was saddened by the news of the passing away of singer-actor Vazhuvoor Manikka Vinayagam. The singer had ensured that the emotion of the songs was communicated with precision to fans through his rich voice, the Chief Minister said. ## Expressing condolences to the family of the singer and to his friends from the industry, the Chief Minister said that the singer, like his name, was a gem. ##

Los Angeles, October 29 - One of the leading social media platforms, Facebook has been renamed as "Meta", the company revealed its new name, with CEO Mark Zuckerberg making an official announcement in an effort to encompass its virtual-reality vision for the future, called "metaverse". ## The announcement comes amid an existential crisis for Facebook. It faces legislative and regulatory scrutiny in many parts of the world following revelations in the Facebook Papers. Zuckerberg made the announcement at Connect, the company’s annual hardware event.## "From now on, we're going to be the metaverse first. Not Facebook first", Zuckerberg said in his keynote. The company called the metaverse, "a place where we'll play and connect in 3D. Welcome to the next chapter of social connection". Rashmika Mandanna is most followed South India actor with over 22 million followers on Instagram. She has been given the top rank as she has a high growth rate in the number of followers, highest average likes, and video views. ## Even though Rashmika mainly works in Telugu and Kannada films, she has fans all over India and she is even called the "National Crush" by her fans on social media. And there was no surprise she grabbed the top spot among the most influential actors on Instagram from South India. Currently, he has 132 million followers on the photo and video sharing platform and is ranked number 20 in the world. The suspension came after Kangana posted a series of tweets (which termed as hateful speech by the platform) on the alleged violence in West Bengal post-election result. ## The account repeatedly violated Twitter policy on "hateful conduct and abusive behavior", the social media site said on Tuesday.
