Mumbai, October 6 - A Russian film "The Challange" has started the historic production after taking the outer space route on October 5. Director Klim Shipenko and actress Yulia Peresild are the first in the world to shot a feature film entirely in orbit, dashing Tom Cruise's dream of being the first to shoot a film in space. ## The director-actress pair beat out thousands of hopefuls to win the opportunity of making their film aboard the International Space Station. The duo launched into space on October 5 where they will shoot for 12 days. Russian Federal Space Agency, Roscosmos, and Russian state TV Channel One are jointly producing the film.## A Russian commission of medical and safety experts had recently approved a plan for an actress and a director to blast off early October to film the first full-length, fictional movie in space. "The Challenge," tells the story of a doctor launched on short notice to the International Space Station to save the life of a cosmonaut.## Seasoned astronaut Anton Shkaplerov has also gone with them on the expedition and he will act as mission commander. He has also been tapped to moonlight as an actor in the film. Peresild and Shkaplerov will take on additional production roles, acting as a costume designer and makeup artist, and Director of Photography respectively owing to the limited crew size.## To prepare for the mission, both Klim Shipenko and Yulia Peresild had undergone a rigorous three-month training program, including learning the basics of space survival, completing zero gravity, centrifuge, and vibration tests, and practicing for in-flight emergencies.## Stay tuned...

Mumbai, September 19, 2021: A new space race is heating up between the two rivals, the USA and Russia, this time, however, for a different purpose. More than 60 years after the erstwhile Soviet Union beat the United States into orbit with the launch of its Sputnik satellite, the country is again leading the race in the entertainment field. ## According to reports, Russia has announced plans to produce a feature film titled "The Challenge" in outer space, allowing itself to become the first country to do so. If all goes well, the production team will lift off next month on a 12-day mission to pull off the historic first, beating Tom Cruise's untitled passion project. ## A Russian commission of medical and safety experts approved a plan for an actress and a director to blast off early next month to film the first full-length, fictional movie in space. "After that, it's beautiful".## Last year NASA announced that it was partnering with Elon Musk's SpaceX and Tom Cruise to shoot a movie that would be partly filmed aboard the International Space Station. The Edge of Tomorrow director Doug Liman is also attached to helm the project, which set the minimum budget of $200 million. However, with no shooting timeline set for Cruise's film yet, it is set to lose the space race against Russian production. ## Meanwhile, the launch of the "The Challenge" crew is expected to take place on October 5th. Channel One will live stream the event internationally with, Channel One CEO Konstantin Ernst calling it "a breathtaking reality show and a chance to attract millions of TV viewers".
