Mumbai, January 12 - Bollywood star Ayushmann Khurrana has reportedly confirmed to headline the biopic of former Indian cricketer Sourav Ganguly. "Lootera" director Vikramaditya Motwane has been attached to direct this ambitious film, to be produced by Luv Ranjan and Ankur Garg. ## It was reported last year that the supremely talented actor was in talks to play the larger-than-life role of Sourav Ganguly in his biopic and after months of speculations, Ayushmann has now officially signed to headline the film, according to Peepinmoon.com. ## "Producers Luv Ranjan and Ankur Garg, who are producing this film under their Luv Films banner, have hit a six by bringing together Ayushmann Khurrana and Vikramaditya Motwane. Both have established themselves as formidable forces with an incredible body of work throughout the years", the report says. ## The stakeholders are jubilant to bring Ayushmann Khurrana and Vikramaditya Motwane and the kind of cinematic masterpiece they are set to create together. Mumbai, May 30 - Producer Luv Ranjan and Ankur Garg teamed up and announced the biopic of former Indian cricket captain Sourav Ganguly in September 2021. Since then, various actors have been approached to play the legendary cricketer but things didn't materialize. ## Now, according to Peepingmoon.com, the biographical drama is back on track, and pre-production has already started. It is said that the makers are in advanced talks with the supremely talented actor Ayushmann Khurana to headline the project.## Ayushmann, who has wooed audiences with a variety of roles, has reportedly been in talks for this much-awaited biopic for several months and it's only a matter of some formalities before he is officially signed on for the role. The actor will undergo months of extensive cricket training before starting the shoot by the end of this year.## Tamil filmmaker Aishwarya Rajinikanth is expected to direct this sports biopic after Vikramaditya Motwane, who was supposed to direct it, turned down the opportunity for unknown reasons.## Meanwhile, Ayushmann Khurrana will next be seen in the social comedy-drama "Dream Girl 2" which is scheduled to release on August 25, 2023. Mumbai, Dec 26 (IANS) Kabir Khan's Ranveer Singh-starer '83' has been in the making for a long time. The film was initially announced in mid-July 2016, the same year that saw a flurry of cricket biopics such as Tony D'Souza 'Azhar' and Neeraj Pandey's 'M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story. ## It all started with members of the legendary squad meeting at a suburban hotel in Mumbai to mark the anniversary of the celebrated win. ## The 1983 team's skipper, Kapil Dev, along with several other members of the squad, handed over the film after signing an MoU with Phantom Films, co-owned by Anurag Kashyap, Vikramaditya Motwane, Vikas Bahl and Madhu Mantena. The film then went into scripting with director and screenwriter Sanjay Puran Singh Chauhan taking up the onus of writing. ## Sanjay, who bagged the National Film Award for Best Direction for 'Bahattar Hoorain', sketched the foundation of the script, which was then handed over to Vasan Bala ('Mard Ko Dard Nahi Hota', 2019). ## "The foundation of the film was laid by Sanjay Puran Singh Chauhan. It came to me as his baby," Bala informed IANS. A close associate of Anurag Kashyap, Bala then added more flavors to the script in terms of perspective. "I worked on Sanjay's base screenplay, added my perspective and tone to it," the director-writer added. ## The film, which was slated to release in 2017, encountered several delays during its journey. ## On October 5, 2018, Phantom Films was dissolved a day before #MeToo allegations against one of its founding members, Vikas Bahl, by one of the women crew members, surfaced. The alleged incident happened during the early hours of May 5, 2015 after a party in a Goa hotel, ahead of Kashyap's 'Bombay Velvet' release. ## After the dismantling of Phantom Films, Reliance Entertainment, which had acquired a 50 percent stake in Phantom, took the film forward. ## Bala completed the script and shared it with Kabir Khan, who then started work on the mammoth project. "And then I handed it over to Kabir Khan and his team. They took it and carried it to greater heights," Bala remembers. ## The next movement in the '83' clockwork was the casting. Kabir got in touch with the best in the business, Mukesh Chhabra, who then embarked on the journey to cast for the film. ## For Chhabra, "the idea behind casting was that the entire country should connect with each character". The casting director had earlier told IANS: "This film took me more than a year to cast because there were a lot of things that we needed with regards to the actors. They needed to know how to play cricket, and their language and their culture had to match with the corresponding characters." ## Several workshops were organised for the players to develop an understanding of their characters, the iconic shots of the cricketing legends, and the team spirit. Chhabra set up a camp where actors interacted with actual players. ## Once the pre-production and casting was locked, the film's crew swiftly slipped into production mode with principal photography starting on June 5, 2019. Along the way, Deepika Padukone, who plays Kapil Dev's wife Romi, came onboard as co-producer along with Kabir Khan, Sajid Nadiadwala, and Vishnuvardhan Induri. ## The film was shot in and around England for three months with a brief schedule in India as well. It was eventually wrapped on October 7, 2019. ## But then came the first wave of the pandemic, followed soon by the second. The contagion gripped major parts of the world, pushing nations into lockdowns. Showbiz suffered like never before, as theatres shut down, forcing the film's crew to wait for almost two years before seeing the light of day. ## The moment arrived on December 22, when the film was first unveiled at a star-studded screening in Mumbai, where practically the entire Bollywood showed up to render support to the big-ticket release. ## With the film garnering a positive response from metro audiences, Vasan is a happy man. "Happy to see it release and people enjoy it," he said, signing off. ##

There are few films that give you the same joy on the big screen and on OTT platforms, and 'AK Vs AK' is one of those films", the Malang actor said. ## "Now that vaccine has also been approved by the government, so I pray that theatres will reopen with the same capacity as they used to. I hope this year people watch films in theatres. I have a positive approach to life and, God willing, everything will be fine. Nawazuddin Siddiqui who was hailed for his role in the series and acquired a new level of fame says that there is nothing left in Vikram Chandra's novel that can be put in Season 3.## Speaking to a leading portal, Nawazuddin Siddiqui said, "Sacred Games got the kind of worldwide acclaim that none of us associated with the series had seen before. I remember shooting in Rome for Tannishta Chatterjee’s film and over there too there were so many people talking to me about Sacred Games. So we all felt it was right to do it again, and we did a second season".## Directed by Vikramaditya Motwane and Anurag Kashyap, Nawazuddin Siddiqui admits that the second season was a disappointment as the intentions behind it were not sincere. "Perhaps, somewhere the intention behind Season 2 was not as sincere as the first time. I admit Sacred Games 2 was a disappointment", he said. ## As for season 3, the actor said, "Whatever had to be said from the original novel has already been said. There is nothing left in Vikram Chandra’s novel to be put in Season 3".## When asked about his character in Sacred Games and the dialogues were very popular, the actor politely said the credit must go to writers who wrote the dialogues that became famous.## "I can't take credit for the popularity of the lines that I spoke. I didn't write them. In India, we often give credit to the actor for a popular line. In Yash Chopra Saab's Deewaar, Shashi Kapoor Saab spoke the line, 'Mere Paas Maa Hai'. But, it was Salim-Javed who wrote that line.
