Mumbai, March 2 Actor Neeraj Singh, who recently made his Bollywood debut playing Jitendra Kumar's younger brother in the Ayushmann Khurrana-starrer "Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan", is garnering praise for his role in the film.## "Neeraj is a hardworking actor. Mumbai, March 2 (IANS) Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar is back sharing big-screen space with Katrina Kaif in Rohit Shetty's upcoming cop action feature "Sooryavanshi", for the first time since their 2010 dud "Tees Maar Khan". Akshay insists he has become a big fan of Katrina after working together in their new film.## "There is one scene in which Katrina has performed so beautifully that after the shot I have become a big fan of her and her acting talent. Earlier, I was an admirer of her beauty but after this film, I have become an admirer of her acting. She has done a brilliant job in this film. When she started off, she didn't know a single word of Hindi but today she is working with big stars of this industry," said Akshay, at the trailer launch of "Sooryavanshi" also attended by Katrina, along with Ajay Devgn and Ranveer Singh, who have very special cameos in the film as Bajirao Singham of the "Singham" films and Sangram Bhalerao of "Simmba" respectively. Director Rohit Shetty and co-producer Karan Johar were also present at the do on Monday in Mumbai.## Akshay Kumar plays the title role of Deputy Commissioner of Police, Veer Sooryavanshi, who heads the Anti-Terrorism Squad in the film. "I have worked in almost 135 films but this is the first time, I am seeing such a huge crowd at the trailer launch of my film. I think Rohit (Shetty) Saab has made a good and huge film. I hope that everyone will like this film. Ajay (Devgn) is an old friend. We both started our careers together. Both of us were competing for his first film 'Phool Aur Kaante'. I was the first choice it but then he (Ajay Devgn) replaced me. We have done many films together," he said.## Akshay has played a police officer in several films. How does it feel to play a new cop avatar in his latest? "It feels nice. It's not just about the police uniform, but whenever I wear any uniform -- be it of an Army officer, a Navy officer or Air Force office -- it feels very nice. There is dignity attached to every uniform. I feel very fortunate that we (actors) get the opportunity to do various kinds of roles in our career, so I feel very proud of it," he replied.## There is a line in the trailer that Akshay's utters, which goes: "This work will be done by the one and only kameena Sangram Bhalerao". The reference is to Ranveer Singh's protagonist in Rohit Shetty's earlier cop action flick "Simmba", which went onto become a blockbuster upon release in December 2018, and which cast Ranveer as a cop who will go to any wicked extent to ensure justice.## When a reporter asked Ranveer if he is the real 'kameena' (wicked person) of Bollywood, Akshay answered on Ranveer's behalf: "It is a dialogue in the film and it is not about the film fraternity. It is not correct on your part to ask a question like this so, I would request you not to ask these questions."## "Sooryavanshi" is directed by Rohit Shetty and written by Sajid-Farhad. It is the fourth installment of Shetty's cop universe after two "Singham" films and "Simmba". This week, 'Guns Of Banaras' marked Ganesh Venkatrams Bollywood debut, as villain of the film. ## The film directed by Shekkhar Suri also features Karan Nath, Nathalia Kaur, Abhimanyu Singh, Zarina Wahab and Shilpa Shirodkar. ## "I am forever indebted to directors down South to have appreciated my talent and effort. I would not have been able to venture into Bollywood unless I had done credible work," said Ganesh. ## Ganesh earned rave reviews for his role in the 2010 Malayalam war drama "Kandahar", which starred Amitabh Bachchan and Mohanlal. He played a commando on the film, and Big B's son. ## Ganesh is extremely happy with the fantastic feedback he is getting for his Bollywood debut, from colleagues such as Sunny Kaushal and Shakti Kapoor. However, he holds one compliment very special. "Of all the compliments I have received, the one closest to my heart is the one from the evergreen Rekha ji," he blushes. ## He underwent a rigorous transformation to get into his role of the cocaine-snorting Banarasi gangster in "Guns Of Banaras". ## "I believe in giving my best and hence I go to any length to get into the skin of my character. Mumbai, March 2 (IANS) Filmmaker Rohit Shetty's next film, the Akshay Kumar-starrer 'Sooryavashi', talks of terror strikes and Hindu-Muslim harmony. The filmmaker asks people to stay calm in the face of communal tension in the wake of the ongoing unrest in Delhi, urging fans not to spread panic and rumours without adequate knowledge of ground realities. ## "What is happening in Delhi or the country is a serious issue. There is a whole bunch of people talking about it. I think at this moment the best thing would be to keep calm. Our officials and the government and the people are working on it in Delhi, said Shetty, at the trailer launch of his forthcoming action thriller Sooryavanshi in Mumbai on Monday. ## The filmmaker added: "We're here in Mumbai at a trailer launch having a good time, and to talk about those suffering in Delhi would be the easiest thing to do. Right now, the best thing is to keep quiet and calm. Everyone is talking and that is only increasing chaos. Keep calm, people are working out the situation. We have no idea about the ground realities. None of us knows what it feels like to be in riots or in situation like that. It's horrible and devastating. There's action, drama, emotion and humour -- all wrapped together with the underlying appeal to embrace all religions. ## The trailer introduces Akshay into Rohit Shetty's ‘desi' cop universe. Akshay will be seen as ATS officer Veer Sooryavanshi on a lookout for terrorists planning a deadly strike in Mumbai. Ajay and Ranveer also reprise their roles of Singham and Simmba to help Akshay bust the terror plot. ## Some scenes in the trailer show Akshay's character speaking against discrimination of Muslims in India, hinting that the action-packed movies comes with a message. ## "Mumbai police passport pe religion dekh kar goli nahi chalati, criminal record dekh kar thokti hai (Mumbai police do not open fire after checking religion on a passport, they shoot when they spot a criminal)," Akshay utters in one scene. ## Actress Katrina Kaif will be seen as Veer Sooryavanshi's wife while Jackie Shroff plays the antagonist. ## The over four-minute-long trailer has guns blazing, cars blowing up and power-packed dialogues. I am an introverted person who does not do much PR exercise to maintain visibility, at a time when people are doing more PR than actual work. At the same time I am passionate about work. This is a weird combination that I have as an actor. No matter what films and projects I get, I have earned my fame from the film 'Dev D'. I admire Anurag Kashyap as a filmmaker and wish to collaborate in the future. But I do not know how to tell him that. There are several other filmmakers like Rajkumar Hirani, Imtiaz Ali, Vishal Bharadwaj, Anurag Basu and so many of them I wish to work with," Mahie told IANS. ## "I feel if I call them to say, 'give me work, I want to collaborate with you', I would be bothering them. There were so many articles. I got so many good notices - more than ever in my career - and there was a lot of ‘She's going to get nominated for an Oscar. It's going to happen; if she doesn't, you're crazy'. I'm reading all the articles going, ‘Oh my God, could this happen?' And then it didn't and I was like, ‘Ouch.' It was a little bit of a letdown," she said. ## Many expected the "Hustlers" star to have her name called out during this year's nominations for supporting actress, but Lopez was missing from the list. Kathy Bates ("Richard Jewell"), Laura Dern ("Marriage Story"), Scarlett Johansson ("Jojo Rabbit"), Florence Pugh ("Little Women") and Margot Robbie ("Bombshell") made the cut instead, with Dern taking home the award. ## She opened up about the snub at Winfrey's "2020 Vision: Your Life in Focus Tour" on Saturday.
