Shah Rukh Khan's King To Not Release On Gandhi Jayanti 2026? Possible New Date Revealed

Mumbai, August 27 - Superstar Shah Rukh Khan was last seen in director Rajkumar Hirani's comedy drama, Dunki, in December 2023. Since then, he has been working on his next, which is an action thriller King, with his Pathaan director Siddharth Anand. King went on floors in June this year, but an unfortunate shoulder injury to Shah Rukh Khan, which he sustained while filming for an action sequence, has proved to be a roadblock. King Khan was advised to rest for a couple of months before he resumes filming, and that has reportedly altered the release plans. According to the report by Mid-day, King, which was reportedly eying the Gandhi Jayanti 2026 release, has now been pushed back due to a delay in the shoot. "Shah Rukh needs to rest it out for weeks before he can face the camera again. It is an action-heavy film, so the team doesn’t want to take a chance with his health", says the report. While the official release date has not been announced yet, a recent report by peepingmoon.com suggested that Shah Rukh Khan and director Anand are eyeing Christmas 2026 as the possible theatrical release date. The chances have become bright for this date after the postponement of Vicky Kaushal's ambitious Mahavatar. Produced by Red Chillies Entertainment and Marflix, King marks SRK's first screen outing with daughter Suhana Khan, who makes her big screen debut with this. The film also stars Deepika Padukone as the female lead alongside Abhishek Bachchan, Anil Kapoor, Arshad Warsi, and Abhay Verma in key roles. Stay tuned...

Tiger Shroff's Baaghi 4 Censor Certificate, Theatrical Runtime, and Plot Details Revealed

Mumbai, August 27 - The fourth instalment in Tiger Shroff's popular action Baaghi franchise, Baaghi 4, has reportedly been cleared by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) on August 26, as the movie is gearing up for release on September 5. The details have now emerged regarding its censor certification, runtime, and storyline. According to the viral certificate, the film has received an A certificate from CBFC, which hints at the intense action sequences, gritty treatment, and mature psychological elements. The approved runtime clocks in at 2 hours and 43 minutes, making it the longest film in the franchise so far. With this expanded duration, the makers appear to be balancing large-scale action set pieces with a layered emotional and psychological narrative. The plot details of the film the also revealed, which reads - At his lowest, Ronnie survives a deadly train crash he never intended to leave through. Plagued by grief and guilt, he spirals into self-destruction, haunted by the memory of a girl he lovedβ€”and possibly lost. As his mind begins to fracture, reality bends, and those closest to him start questioning what is real. This synopsis suggests a darker, more complex take on Ronnie's character, showing him not just as an invincible action hero but as a man grappling with trauma, loss, and fractured realities. The mix of raw emotion and psychological tension is expected to add freshness to the franchise, which has so far thrived on high-octane stunts and larger-than-life action. Directed by A Harsha and produced by Sajid Nadiadwala under the banner of Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment, the film's trailer will be launched on August 30. Apart from Tiger, who returns to reprise his role as Ronnie, the movie also stars Sanjay Dutt, Sonam Bajwa, and Harnaaz Sandhu in prominent roles. The film is scheduled to release on September 5 Stay tuned...

Sidharth Malhotra, Janhvi Kapoor's Param Sundari Advance Booking Begins On A Decent Note

Mumbai, August 27 - Sidharth Malhotra returns to the big screen with romantic comedy Param Sundari, which has Janhvi Kapoor as the female lead. Directed by Tushar Jalota, the film has managed to generate decent buzz through teaser/trailer and songs, which have gone viral. Scheduled to release on August 29, the advance booking of Param Sundari was opened on August 26, and the initial reception is decent. The movie has sold around 10K tickets so far for the opening day across the BookMyShow and District apps in the first 24 hours, and the number is expected to increase as the day progresses. Romantic comedies normally don't carry huge advances like action entertainers, as they rely on walk-ups and word of mouth. Param Sundari comes at a time when romantic films are working at the box office, and a decent response for it will put it in a good positive to build on. The trade is anticipating Param Sundari to open in the range of 10 crores net, which can go higher if the word of mouth is positive. If the film manages to open in double digits, it will be a very good start, and among the biggest openings for the lead pair. Param Sundari is produced by Maddock Films, which has been delivering quality content over the last few years and has also delivered big at the box office. It could be an advantage for the film, as it can help in the pre-sales with 2 days still to go before the release. Stay tuned...

War 2's Box Office Result Alters YRF's Ambitious Spy Universe Plans For Jr. NTR

Mumbai, August 26 - Yash Raj Films' ambitious Spy Universe is heading into the days of uncertainty after the underwhelming results of Hrithik Roshan and Jr. NTR-fronted War 2, along with Salman Khan's Tiger 3 at the box office. Particularly, the War 2's box office performance seems to have put the curtains on what could have been the future of Spy Universe. Directed by Ayan Mukerji, War 2 was easily the most ambitious and the biggest film in the Spy Universe. It marked the first major collaboration between North and South with the inclusion of Telugu superstar Jr. NTR in his Bollywood debut. The film was expected to write new chapters in box office history, but what happened with it has shocked everyone, as it is set to finish below 400 crores worldwide. Reportedly, YRF had planned a standalone War 2 spin-off film with Jr. NTR's character Vikram in the Spy Universe. According to the latest report by Bollywood Hungama, the studio has decided to drop plans of making a standalone film with Jr. NTR following the disappointing box office run of War 2. The studio was already reportedly developing a standalone film for Agent Vikram, but the failure of War 2 has halted the entire process. It is said that producer Aditya Chopra has decided not to move forward with the project. As reported earlier, the filmmaker is now redesigning the Spy Universe to give it a fresh touch. Currently, only Alia Bhatt and Sharvari Wagh's Alpha is scheduled in the Spy Universe, on December 25 this year. Shah Rukh Khan's Pathaan 2, which is supposed to be the next film after Alpha, is also said to be postponed indefinitely, while other films, including Tiger vs Pathaan, are not moving forward at the moment. War 2 is the sixth film in the Spy Universe, and it also stars Kiara Advani and Anil Kapoor in the key roles. It is the costliest Spy Universe film yet, with a budget of over 400 crores, but has disappointed with its box office performance so far, grossing just around 344 crores worldwide in 12 days. Mumbai, August 25 - Vicky Kaushal's ambitious epic action drama Mahavatar is no longer releasing on Christmas 2026, as the makers have reportedly postponed it to 2027 amid the shooting delay. The lucrative festive holiday period is now vacant for other films to occupy. According to the report by Peepingmoon.com, Mahavatar shoot has been delayed to next year amid Kaushal's scheduling conflict. To be directed by Amar Kaushik, the film was originally planned to start rolling by the end of 2025, which is reportedly not happening as the actor's Love and War with Sanjay Leela Bhansali is taking longer than expected to wrap. Apart from scheduling conflict with Love and War, Vicky Kaushal will also have to undergo months of intensive physical training to achieve the muscular physique necessary for his role in Mahavatar, which is based on Lord Parashurama. The report says that the makers are now eyeing to take the film on floors by April 2026. Produced by Maddock Films, Mahavatar is expected to be shot over a period of 6 months, followed by lengthy post-production work due to its heavy reliance on VFX. While the studio has not locked a new release date yet, the report says it might hit the big screen on Independence Day weekend 2027. If that happens, then the studio's Stree 3, which is currently slated for the same weekend, will be delayed. Mahavatar is the most ambitious production of Maddock Films yet, and the studio is leaving no stone unturned to make a visual spectacle on the big screens. In the movie, Vicky plays Lord Parashurama, who is the sixth avatar among the Dashavatara of the preserver god Vishnu. He is one of the Chiranjivi (Immortals), who will appear at the end of the Kali Yuga to be the guru of Vishnu's tenth and last incarnation, Kalki. Stay tuned...

Top 5 Biggest Openers of Siddharth Malhotra: Param Sundari Eyes Entry In Top 3

Mumbai, August 24 - Actor Sidharth Malhotra has had an up-and-down journey in Bollywood with a mix of romantic dramas, action entertainers, and thrillers. Before the pandemic, he was a promising actor with a variety of films, but his trajectory took a downward turn after that, with not a single box office success . The actor's films used to deliver good opening-day numbers at the box office among his contemporaries, but things have changed over the last few years. One of the main reasons for the low openings of his films, as trade believes, is the lack of exciting content. With his upcoming release, Param Sundari, generating solid pre-release buzz, trade experts are curious to see if it can break into the actor's list of top openers. Sidharth's biggest opener remains Ek Villain (2014), which opened to a fantastic 16.70 crore net. It is closely followed by Brothers (2015), his big-ticket action drama alongside Akshay Kumar, which scored 15.21 crore net on day one. These two films remain miles ahead of the rest of his releases in terms of opening-day collections. In the third spot currently sits Thank God (2022), co-starring Ajay Devgn, which managed 8.10 crore net on its first day, despite clashing with big competition during the festive release window. His debut film Student of the Year (2012), directed by Karan Johar, made an impressive 7.48 crore net, marking a solid start for the actor's career. Rounding off the list is Marjaavaan (2019), a masala romantic action entertainer, which collected 7 crore net on opening day. With romantic-comedy Param Sundari, which has Janhvi Kapoor as the female lead, set to hit theatres on August 29, trade is anticipating a comeback for Sidharth. Early box office projections suggest that the film could take a double-digit opening, thereby pushing itself into the Top 3 Openers of Sidharth Malhotra's career. It is currently one of the most-anticipated Bollywood titles as per IMDb, and if the audience reception matches the hype, it could be a long-awaited comeback for the SOTY star. Stay tuned...

Baaghi 4 Tops IMDb's 2025 Most Anticipated List: Will It Deliver at the Box Office? Bollywood

Baaghi 4 Tops IMDb's 2025 Most Anticipated List: Will It Deliver at the Box Office?

Mumbai, August 23 - The anticipation is building up for Tiger Shroff's action thriller Baaghi 4, which is scheduled to hit the big screens on September 5. The makers are set to unveil the trailer on August 30, and are said to be confident that it to be the hype raiser. Meanwhile, the movie has already taken the spotlight as it climbed to the number one position on IMDb's real-time list of most anticipated Bollywood films of 2025. While earlier in January the film held the fifth spot behind other biggies like Sikandar and Coolie, its steady rise reflects growing audience interest. The upcoming action spectacle also gained buzz after its teaser, featuring Tiger Shroff in high-octane combat against Sanjay Dutt, received an A certificate from the CBFC, hinting at darker and more intense storytelling. The Baaghi franchise has always been synonymous with action-packed drama, and expectations are no different this time, though the upcoming film is completely different from the previous films, which were family-friendly. Baaghi 4 is the darkest and bloodiest film of the franchise yet. Nonetheless, the movie has been in the social media chatter, which also reflects in IMDb's most-anticipated titles, but the real question is, can this anticipation turn into box office numbers? The Baaghi franchise's past box office records present a mixed picture. The first two movies of the franchise were box office hits, but the third movie (2020) had to settle for an average verdict, thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic, which cut short its potential. It has been a long time since that, so the trade is not sure whether the upcoming film can still resonate with the masses, especially at a time when the franchise films are falling apart. With Baaghi 4 carrying a big budget, there are challenges ahead of it that it needs to overcome to become a box office hit. Despite the buzz soaring, the movie has to deal with franchise fatigue, which is real. As reported earlier, only one franchise movie, Raid 2, emerged box office hit, while others fell flat this year. For Baaghi 4 to join the Ajay Devgn-starrer, the makers will hope that the all-important trailer works well, and the movie manages to take a good opening, which has become a must for big-budget titles. The trade is also not sure whether Tiger's films still carry the same interest among the fans as they used to before the COVID-19 pandemic. The actor's last few films failed miserably, which is making the trade nervous about the upcoming film. It is a big challenge, which can be overcome with one good film which manages to strike a chord with the audience, and the makers would hope it does. The franchise fatigue, audience scepticism, and doubts over Tiger Shroff's box office pull following his recent underperformers are there, but if one thing is positive for the film is that the franchise still commands a loyal fan following, and Tiger’s popularity among action enthusiasts remains intact. To turn things in its favour as a whole, the film's trailer will be crucial in shaping audience sentiment ahead of its September 5 release. If early buzz translates into footfalls and the film delivers on scale and intensity, Baaghi 4 could emerge as one of the surprise winners of the year. Stay tuned...

Ajay Devgn's Son of Sardaar 2 vs Siddhant Chaturvedi–Tripti Dimri's Dhadak 2 Box Office: A Final Nail In The Franchises' Coffin? Bollywood
BY Sunit Jangir πŸ“° News

Ajay Devgn's Son of Sardaar 2 vs Siddhant Chaturvedi–Tripti Dimri's Dhadak 2 Box Office: A Final Nail In The Franchises' Coffin?

Mumbai, August 23 - In Hollywood, the superhero fatigue has been real, especially post the Covid-19 pandemic, where MCU and DC films (barring a few) have not performed to the level of pre-Covid. This led to debate whether the audience is moving away from superhero films, other than die-hard fans who are still keeping those films alive. While superhero films may or may not survive this fatigue in the long run in the West, there is franchise fatigue brewing in the Indian cinema, especially in Bollywood, and it seems real. In 2025, there have been half a dozen franchise Bollywood releases so far, and barring only Raid 2, all other films failed to become hits at the box office. The first week of August 2025 saw the release of two highly anticipated Bollywood sequels, Ajay Devgn's Son of Sardaar 2 and Siddhant Chaturvedi-Tripti Dimri-starrer Dhadak 2. Both films carried the weight of their predecessors' names, but unfortunately, neither managed to ignite the box office, further showing the disconnection of audiences with sequels. While failure or success is the part and parcel of cinema, what was alarming was that these sequels struggled to even match the opening day numbers of their originals, sparking discussions about whether the franchises have reached their end. Even other franchise films like War 2 and Housefull 4 failed to take big openings, thus ending up as box office failures. Released on the same day, August 1st, Son of Sardaar 2 took an initial lead in the clash, with an underwhelming opening of around 7.25 crore. However, despite the better start compared to Dhadak 2, the film has grossed only around 65 crore worldwide in 3 weeks, ending up as a disaster. Ajay Devgn- On the other hand, Dhadak 2 fared even worse. Opening with a meagre 3.50 crore net, the film collected only 30 crores worldwide in 3 weeks. Despite featuring promising talent like Siddhant Chaturvedi and Tripti Dimri, the sequel failed to capture the cultural resonance that the first Dhadakβ€”a remake of Sairatβ€”enjoyed. The combined total of both films will be less than 100 crores, against over 260 crores of the original films. What made matters worse for both films was the dominance of Saiyaara, which has been on a record-breaking spree, and Mahavatar Narsimha, which continues to pull massive family audiences. With these two blockbusters commanding the majority of footfalls, Son of Sardaar 2 and Dhadak 2 could not find breathing space at the ticket counters. In the end, while Son of Sardaar 2 clearly outperformed Dhadak 2 in raw numbers, both sequels have been branded as big flops. Their disappointing runs suggest that the audience's appetite for these franchises has dried up. Unless revived with radically fresh storytelling, this box office clash may well have hammered the final nail in the coffins of the Son of Sardaar and Dhadak series. Stay tuned...

Countdown Begins: Tiger Shroff, Sanjay Dutt's Action-Packed Baaghi 4 Trailer To Release August 30

Mumbai, August 23 - Bollywood action star Tiger Shroff returns to his Baaghi avatar with the much-awaited action entertainer Baaghi 4, which is gearing up for a release on September 5. Unlike previous films of the franchise, the upcoming film is different with an A-rated tone. As less than two weeks are left for the release, the makers are set to launch the action-packed trailer of the film on August 30, setting the stage for a grand reveal ahead of the film's theatrical release, according to the report by Pinkvilla. Tiger Shroff, known for his high-octane stunts and action-packed performances, is set to return to his blockbuster franchise with even more power and intensity. Joining him is Sanjay Dutt, who plays the antagonist alongside Sonam Bajwa and Harnaaz Kaur Sandhu as the female leads. The Baaghi franchise, known for its adrenaline-fueled action sequences, stylised combat, and emotional drama, has delivered big success at the box office since its debut in 2016. With each instalment, the scale and expectations have only grown. Baaghi 4, however, will take a different path. While the first three films were family-friendly, the upcoming one will be darker and the bloodiest film of the franchise yet. Director A. Harsha has left no stone unturned to design an uncompromised R-rated action film like the ones made in the West. The teaser of the film was recently launched, and drew mixed reactions from the audience, regarding the theme of the film. Backed by Sajid Nadiadwala's Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment, the film aims to cater to both mass audiences and action lovers. As the trailer release date nears, anticipation is at an all-time high, and fans are already counting down the days to witness Tiger Shroff and Sanjay Dutt together in this action-packed spectacle. The Bengal Files Director Vivek Agnihotri Responds Strongly to John Abraham's Criticism of The Kashmir Files

Mumbai, August 22 - National award-winning director Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri is gearing up for the release of political drama The Bengal Files, which is the third piece in Agnihotri's Files trilogy after National Award-winning movies The Tashkent Files (2019) and The Kashmir Files (2022). The upcoming movie revolves around the Calcutta riots of August 16, 1946, which were triggered after the All-India Muslim League called for Direct Action Day to demand a separate homeland. The movie has been in the media headlines for various reasons, which was expected. Recently, Bollywood star John Abraham shared his opinion on films like The Kashmir Files and Chhaava, and labelled them as the extreme right wing's ideological films, which he said are not good for society. He expressed that he would never make films like The Kashmir Files to "sway people in a hyper-political environment". Abraham's comments left many people furious, including director Agnihotri. During an interview with Padmaja Joshi of NDTV, the filmmaker, who worked with Abraham in 2007's sports drama Dhan Dhana Dhan Goal, reacted to the actor's comment about The Kashmir Files. "John is not a historian, an intellectual, a thinker, or a writer. He has been making very, very jingoistic films like Satyameva Jayate, too. He made Diplomat and all those kinds of films. He must have said that for a variety of reasons. If you had told me some great historian had said this, I would have understood it. I don't care about what he's saying. When was India's atmosphere not hyper-political? When was it that Hindu-Muslim and caste issues never existed in India?" – Agnihotri The filmmaker further said, "He is known for driving motorbikes and showing his body and eating protein, he should focus on those things, film-on mein naa hi ghuse toh behtar hai (better if he doesn't get into talking about films)." Produced by Abhishek Agarwal Arts and I Am Buddha Productions in association with Zee Studios, The Bengal Files stars Darshan Kumar, Pallavi Joshi, Simrat Kaur, Mithun Chakraborty, Anupam Kher, Saswata Chatterjee, Namashi Chakraborty, Rajesh Khera, Puneet Issar, Priyanshu Chatterjee, Dibyendu Bhattacharya, Sourav Das, and Mohan Kapur. It is scheduled to release on September 5th. Stay tuned...

Mumbai, August 22 - The highly-anticipated box office clash between superstar Rajinikanth's gangster action drama Coolie and Hrithik Roshan and Jr. NTR's spy action thriller War 2 has turned into a dull affair where both films failed to live up to the pre-release hype. Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, Coolie had everything to run riot at the box office, be it star power, a blockbuster director, a music sensation, and a reputed production house, but all went in vain as the story couldn't connect with the audience, which didn't turn up as expected post the weekend. Coolie had a record-breaking start, followed by a record opening weekend for Tamil cinema. However, once the weekend was over, the poor critics' reviews and mixed audience reception came to spoil the party as the film couldn't hold on to the expected lines during the weekdays. Both Coolie and War 2 were projected to score over 2000 crores at the worldwide box office, but now, they are heading for a combined total of under 1000 crores, which is hugely disappointing. The failure of both movies will force the filmmakers to rethink how they need to approach pan pan-India market without taking much risk. Stay tuned...

Hrithik Roshan-Jr. NTR's War 2 Bags Big Non-Theatrical Deals Worth 225 Crore

Mumbai, August 22 - Yash Raj Films' much-hyped spy action thriller War 2, starring Hrithik Roshan and Jr. NTR, has been underwhelming at the box office so far, with a disappointing first-week collection of around 315 crores worldwide. Ideally, the movie should have done this business or probably more in the opening weekend itself, but poor reviews and mixed word of mouth proved fatal. With no sign of rebound, Ayan Mukerji's directorial is heading towards emerging as a loss venture for YRF. As per trade estimates, the film will end up with around 50 crores in losses for the studio. Given the huge production costs and how the film has performed at the box office, the losses could have been higher, but the makers recovered most of it from the non-theatrical rights. According to reports, War 2's digital rights have been sold for 150 crores, while satellite rights brought 50 crores, and music rights brought 25 crores in revenue for YRF. The total non-theatrical revenue of around 225 crores has helped the studio to bring down the losses. The movie was reportedly made on a budget of over 400 crores, as the costliest film in the YRF Spy Universe. This includes the salaries of Jr. NTR (60 crores), Hrithik Roshan (35 crores), Ayan Mukerji (25 crores), and Kiara Advani (10 crores). Directed by Ayan Mukerji, War 2 is the 6th film in the Spy Universe, and the sequel to 2019's blockbuster War. It stars Telugu superstar Jr. NTR in his Bollywood debut, alongside Hrithik Roshan, who reprises his role from the first film, Kiara Advani and Anil Kapoor. ## Stay tuned...

IMAX CEO Bets High Hopes On Ranbir Kapoor, Yash's Ramayana, Calls It a Potential Global Success

Mumbai, August 21 - The Indian cinema has been taking giant steps in reaching the global audience over the last few years. There have been many films recently which worked wonders at the box office outside India, proving the growing impact of Indian films beyond national boundaries. ## Going ahead, there are plenty of films to look forward to, and one of them is producer Namit Malhotra's epic Ramayana. Starring Ranbir Kapoor and Ram, Sai Pallavi as Sita, Yash as Raavan, and Sunny Deol as Hanuman, Ramayana is touted to be a ground-breaking Indian film, which has the potential to work wonders across the globe, according to Malhotra. ## Recently, the makers unveiled a 3-minute-long introduction teaser of Ramayana, which primarily focused on the quality of VFX, the vision of the director, which is unbelievably awesome. Filmed specially for large IMAX screens, the epic is being seen by the IMAX CEO as a wonder in the making. ## According to The LA Times, IMAX CEO Richard Gelfond has expressed strong optimism about the upcoming magnum opus Ramayana, calling it a project with the potential to break boundaries of Indian cinema and captivate international audiences. "Judging from what we've seen, this has all the elements to be a global success," Gelfond said.## His remarks reflect IMAX's growing interest in large-scale Indian productions as Hollywood grapples with fewer tentpole releases, and the appetite for epic storytelling expands worldwide. Over the last few years, IMAX has showcased just a handful of Indian films, but the upcoming Ramayana is its most prestigious Indian project yet. ## Meanwhile, Namit Malhotra, who has produced the film under Prime Focus Studio in association with Yash's Monster Mind Creations, wants to eliminate any language barriers for Ramayana. His DNEG, which is handling the VFX of the epic, is using syncing technology from its Brahma AI unit to seamlessly present the film in local languages for international audiences. ## The filmmaker said that Ramayana was seen as a global film from the day they started working on it. He has full confidence in the product and believes that it gonna be India's Avatar for the global audience. The film will be released in two parts, with the first part shceduled on Diwali 2026, followed by the second part on Diwali 2027. ## Stay tuned...

War 2 and Coolie's North-South Collaborations: Unlimited Expectations, Limited Outcomes Bollywood

War 2 and Coolie's North-South Collaborations: Unlimited Expectations, Limited Outcomes

Mumbai, August 20 - The much-hyped Independence Day weekend releases War 2 and Coolie were supposed to become the biggest box office clash of the decade of Indian cinema, but it turned out to be a wonderless show, where there was nothing magical as was anticipated. Both films were star-studded with top stars across industries coming on board. Both War 2 and Coolie were designed as grand North-South collaborations, promising to redefine the meaning of pan-India cinema. Rajinikanth-fronted Coolie, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, roped in Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan for a cameo to boost its chances in the Hindi market. Similarly, War 2 paired Bollywood's action icon Hrithik Roshan with Telugu superstar Jr. NTR, in what was marketed as one of the most ambitious crossovers ever attempted in Indian cinema. However, both films have fallen short of expectations as a whole, especially in those markets where the makers tried to steal gold. In the case of Coolie, Aamir Khan's surprise cameo was promoted as a masterstroke to expand the film's reach in the North, and there was a lot of noise on social media regarding the same. But despite initial curiosity, the cameo added little value to the film's performance in the Hindi-speaking markets, which remained lukewarm after the opening weekend. Reviews noted that Aamir's limited presence felt underutilised, and the cameo failed to translate into sustained box office gains outside Tamil Nadu. In Hindi, the movie is headed for mid-thirty crores net, which is not the result the makers would have hoped for. The final can also be attributed to Rajinikanth and Lokesh, who have some appeal in Hindi. While Aamir's presence didn't bring much to Coolie, it was disastrous for Yash Raj Films, which teamed with the Telugu superstar Jr. NTR in a full-fledged parallel lead in War 2, introducing him to a larger Hindi audience while giving the film strong traction in the South. Unfortunately, the result was far from what the makers envisioned, or it can be said that the box office numbers were disastrous. While the Hrithik-NTR combination had the potential to ignite fireworks, mixed word-of-mouth and an uninspiring narrative led to a steep decline after its initial surge. Even taking mixed reception out of the equation, War 2's performance in South Indian states is nothing short of shocking. In the South, where Jr. NTR is a megastar with a massive fan following, War 2 failed miserably, with the final collection will be less than a hundred crores gross outside the Hindi belt in India. The blame can be put on negative reviews and mixed audience reception, but this is not the first time that the films of these stars opened with such a reception. Jr. NTR's last film, Devara, didn't get favourable reviews, but still went on to become a box office hit with over 400 crores worldwide. Likewise, Aamir Khan's poorly received films used to do decent business. But this time, both stars failed to bring the audience to the strong markets, which will make the filmmakers think about cross-industry collaboration. Coolie's performance in the Hindi market is still understandable; Tamil cinema doesn't have much pull here, and cameos don't matter much as far as box office results are concerned. But War 2's results in Southern markets, especially in Telugu, despite Jr. NTR's full-fledged role, will make the filmmakers rethink their strategy regarding cross-industry collaboration. Ultimately, War 2 and Coolie highlight the limitations of North-South collaborations when they are driven more by marketing optics than by creative synergy. Both films generated massive anticipation on social media with their cross-industry appeal, but delivered little to shocking in terms of box office results. Their underwhelming performance proves that the future of pan-India cinema won't be defined by cameos or debuts, but by universal storytelling that truly connects audiences across linguistic and cultural divides.
