PVR INOX reported a stellar December quarter, with net profits surging by 166% to reach ₹95.7 crore, a massive jump from ₹35.9 crore the previous year. This growth was largely anchored by Aditya Dhar's spy thriller Dhurandhar, which grossed ₹1,300 crore worldwide. The film sold over 4 crore tickets nationwide, with nearly 50% of those admissions occurring at PVR INOX properties alone. This surge pushed the chain's overall revenue up by 10% and footfalls by 9%, successfully offsetting a 2.5% rise in operating and F&B costs. The film’s historic run contributed significantly to the 13% overall growth of the Indian box office in 2025, alongside other hits like Chhaava and Kantara Chapter One.
The phenomenon, popularly dubbed Dhuroxic on social media, has become a cultural talking point since filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma first coined the term. Much like the Barbenheimer trend in Hollywood, Dhuroxic represents a rare moment where two high-budget, high-concept films from different industries (Bollywood and Sandalwood/Pan-India) collide on the same day. For PVR-INOX, this represents more than just a box office battle; it is a massive advertising opportunity. The 2.25 crore projected admissions offer brands a captive, high-engagement audience that few other platforms in the country can provide.
Leading the charge on one side is Aditya Dhar's spy-thriller sequel, Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge. Following the record-breaking success of the first installment in 2025—which became the highest-grossing Indian film of that year—the sequel carries immense expectations. This film marks the highly anticipated return of Rocking Star Yash to the big screen after the global phenomenon of KGF: Chapter 2.
