A Sequel To Blockbuster 'Maanaadu' Is In The Works With Silambarasan TR And SJ Suryah!

Chennai, December 2 - Tamil movie "Maanaadu", which was released a week ago on November 25, is going bonkers at the box office as it turned out to be the best performer for actor Silambarasan TR. ## Now, director Venkat Prabhu has revealed that he has plans for the sequel of Maanaadu in a recent interview. He also confirmed that the sequel will not only feature Silambarasan TR but will also have SJ Suryah, who played DCP Dhanushkodi, back in the mix. ## Venkat Prabhu has also added that initially, the team wanted to rope in Ravi Teja to play Dhanushkodi but due to his busy schedule, SJ Suryah came on board. Suryah added that Ravi Teja has seen the Tamil version and is interested to play Dhanushkodi if the film gets remade in Telugu.## The story of the film revolves around a common man and a police officer, who is trapped in a time loop, on the day of a public conference of the chief minister and forced to live the same day over and over again. ## Maanaadu is produced by Suresh Kamatchi under the banner of V House Productions. Critically Acclaimed 'Jai Bhim' Director Expressed Regret On Actor Suriya Facing Criticism For The Film

Chennai, November 21 - Ever since actor Suriya's Tamil film "Jai Bhim" has released on Amazon Prime Video, it has triggered a new spot of controversy. Despite winning accolades for making such a hard-hitting film, the social drama film is being subjected to show the Vanniyar community in a bad light. ## While the makers of the film, including actor Suriya, are facing criticism, director Tha Se Gnanavel, feels responsible for all the trouble Suriya facing for doing this film. On Sunday, Gnanavel posted a statement on Twitter and said that he regretted the trouble Suriya was facing on his account.## "The welcome that 'Jai Bhim' got from all segments has brought us happiness. In the same way, I did not actually expect some opinions that have gone against the film", he said in a statement, claiming that he did not know that a calendar that was in the background would be construed as an identity of a community. ## He explained that the intention behind placing the calendar there was only to manifest the idea that the year was 1995. "None of us had any intention of showing the calendar as an identity of any community. When I got to know about the calendar from social media on the night of November 1, after the film had released on Prime Video, all efforts were made to immediately get the calendar changed on the morning of November 2 itself", he added. ## Stating that it was unfortunate that actor Suriya was being asked to take responsibility for something that he, as director, was solely responsible for, Gnanavel said he wished to express his regret for the difficulty it had caused to Suriya. Rajakannu was arrested by the police and was later missing from the police station. Senggeni seeks the help of an advocate Chandru to seek justice for her husband. Chandru files a habeas corpus case and he refers Rajan case to continue further to find the truth.## The film stars Suriya playing the role of Justice Chandru, with Lijomol Jose, K. Suriya's 'Etharkkum Thunindhavan' Sets February 2022 Release Date In Theaters

Chennai, November 19 - Tamil superstar Suriya will be making his big-screen return after two back-to-back digital releases with director Pandiraj's "Etharkkum Thunindhavan". Sun Pictures on Friday announced that "Etharkkum Thunindhavan", which happens to be Suriya's 40th film, will open in theaters on February 4, 2022. ## It will be Suriya's first film to release in theaters after more than two years. His last theatrical release was the 2019 action drama "Kaappaan". Due to the ongoing covid-19 pandemic, his last two releases, Soorarai Pottru and Jai Bhim, directly premiered on Amazon Prime Video. ## Produced by Sun Pictures, Etharkkum Thunindhavan will mark Pandiraj’s third project with Suriya after Pasanga 2 and Kadaikutty Singam. Silambarasan Breaks Down On Stage At 'Maanaadu' Pre-release Event

Chennai, November 18 - As the Tamil movie "Maanaadu" is gearing up for release on November 25, the pre-release event of the film was held in Chennai on Thursday (Nov. 18). During the event, Silambarasan TR, who is playing the lead role, broke down at the stage, asking his fans to "take care of him". ## Silambarasan told cheering fans who had assembled at the Krishnaveni theatre, braving heavy rains that were lashing the city, that he had gone through a lot in recent times. Suriya To Enact Duel Roles In His Next With Director Siva?

Chennai, November 9 - Tamil superstar Suriya will be teaming up with "Annaatthe" director Siva for the first time. Though the film has not been announced officially yet, Siva recently confirmed in an interview that he will be directing Suriya in his next, which will go on floors next year. ## The latest report around this much-awaited collaboration suggests that Suriya will be enacting a duel role in the film that is said to be a commercial family drama that will also play to Suriya’s big image in that category. Rajinikanth's 'Annaatthe' Bags Second Biggest Opening Weekend After Thalapathy's 'Master' Of Pandemic Era

Chennai, November 8 - Superstar Rajinikanth strikes gold with his latest Tamil action drama film, "Annaatthe". The veteran actor, at the age of 70, proved his commercial worth and scored the century as the box office. Directed by Siva, "Annaatthe", which was released on November 4, scored ₹ 123.4 crores in the 4-day opening weekend at the worldwide box office, including ₹ 96.4 cr. in India alone. ## "Annaatthe" currently is the second biggest opening weekend grosser Indian film during the covid-19 pandemic. Thalapathy Vijay's Tamil blockbuster "Master", which was released on 13 January this year, recorded ₹ 143.90 in the 5-day opening weekend. Akshay Kumar's "Sooryavanshi" is going neck to neck with "Annaatthe" and collects ₹ 116 crores in the 3-day weekend, beginning on Friday (Nov. 5). ## The Sun Pictures' production, "Annaatthe" has earned ₹ 79.20 crores gross in Tamil Nadu alone, followed by ₹ 8 crores in Karanataka, ₹ 5.60 crores in Andhra Pradesh/Telangana, ₹ 2 in Kerala, and ₹ 1.60 crores for the rest of India. Overseas, it has grossed ₹ 27 crores so far from the release of over 1100 screens in 66 countries. ## "Annaatthe" took the 3rd best opening of the pandemic era at the Indian box office. Pawan Kalyan's Telugu hit, "Vakeel Saab" earned ₹ 40.10 crores net and is at the top spot, followed by Vijay's "Master", which earned ₹ 34.80 crores on the first day on the occasion of the Pongal festival. Box Office: Sivakarthikeyan's Blockbuster 'Doctor' Grossed Rs. 100 Crores Worldwide

Thalapathy 66: Director Vamshi Paidipally Gives Major Update On The Cast And Story Of Vijay-Starrer

Chennai, October 22 - Yogi Babu's acclaimed political satire comedy-drama film "Mandela" is among the 14 films shortlisted for India's entry to the Academy Awards 2022. Yogi Babu, who has become a popular name in Tamil cinema, won praise for his role in the film, which is set on the backdrop of a village panchayat election scenario between two political parties where a local barber's vote will determine the fate of the election. ## Apart from Mandela, Vidya Balan starrer "Sherni" has also been named on the list. Chennai, October 17 - What a turnaround this for Sivakarthikeyan's Tamil movie Doctor. At one stage, the movie almost succumbed to the OTT illusion, but now it is going all guns blazing at the box office. The comedy-actioner, directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, has been declared one of the biggest blockbusters of 2021, and the reason behind it is the unpreceded response from the audience. ## Produced by Sivakarthikeyan Productions, and KJR Studios, "Doctor" has become the highest grosser Indian film after the second covid-19 wave with INR 63.4 crores worldwide. It has surpassed the Telugu movie "Love Story" starring Naga Chaitanya and Sai Pallavi, which earned 61 crores* worldwide in the first three weeks while Akshay Kumar starrer "Bell Bottom" is at number 3 with Rs. 53.70 crores worldwide. ## "Doctor" was released on October 9 and it has earned Rs. 43.9 crores so far in Tamil Nadu state including Rs. 7.71 crores from Chennai alone.
