Suraj Pe Mangal Bhari To Release On 15 November In Theaters; Becomes The First Hindi Film To Come Out Post Reopening of Cinemas
While most of the top filmmakers are competing to release their films on over-the-top (OTT) platforms, the makers of the upcoming satirical comedy-drama film, Suraj Pe Mangal Bhari have decided to go for the theatrical release.## Directed by Abhishek Sharma, Suraj Pe Mangal Bhari is scheduled to release theatrically on 15 November 2020, coinciding with Diwali. The Manoj Bajpayee, Diljit Dosanjh, and Fatima Sana Shaikh starrer becomes the first Hindi film to come out post the reopening of cinemas.## Speaking about the theatrical release of the film, director Abhishek Sharma said that OTT platforms are the "death of cinema". ## "I've never been okay with a digital release, my thoughts on this are well known. For me, the cinema belongs to the theatre. I'm really thankful to the production house for giving me that push for theatre, even in these times and Inshallah we'll be the first film to come out in theatres. I wouldn't take names but there are so many films which are on OTT right now and I can see some coming as well, which are promising, I don't know why they couldn't wait. For me, cinema belongs to theatres. I m a theatre guy, I feel cinema belongs to movie theatres and not to OTT. I made this film for theatres and we are all working hard to make that happen", Sharma further added. ## Suraj Pe Mangal Bhari is produced by Subhash Chandra, and Shariq Patel under the banners of Zee Studios, and Essel Vision Productions.
