Box Office: 'Stree 2' Scores Sensational Extended First Week; Crosses 400 Crore Worldwide

Mumbai, August 22 - Maddock Films and Jio Studios' horror-comedy Stree 2 has a sensational extended 8-day first week at the box office with a collection of approximately 291+ crores net. It is already one of the biggest Indian blockbusters of all time.## The Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao-fronted blockbuster's 291.50 crores net (including approx. 16.80 crores net on the second Thursday) is the 4th biggest first week (including extended) ever in Hindi, after Pathaan, Jawan, and Animal. Interestingly, all these films were released in the last two years, including Gadar 2 which is 5th in this list.## Directed by Amar Kaushik, Stree 2 is the highest-grossing Indian horror-comedy film, miles ahead of Kartik Aaryan-fronted Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 which scored 184+ crores net collection in its lifetime run. The latest blockbuster will be topping 300 crores net by tomorrow and will become only the 15th movie of all time to achieve the milestone in Hindi.## At the worldwide box office, the sequel has surpassed 400 crores gross collection in the flat 8 days. Mumbai, August 22 - Triptii Dimri and Avinash Tiwary's romantic drama Laila Majnu was recently re-released at the Indian box office and surprisingly, it has turned out to be a big success for the makers. ## There have been rare instances when a re-released film matched its original release collection but Laila Majnu has exceeded expectations to earn nearly 2X of its original run. Released in 2018, the movie grossed approximately 3.20 crores in India. ## Since its proper re-release on August 10, Laila Majnu has so far grossed approximately 6.15 crores in box office collection in 14 days (including today, August 12). Mumbai, August 21 - There is no stopping Stree 2 which has another big day at the box office. The movie continues to trend above expectations during the weekdays after the heavily frontloaded holiday period of Independence Day and Raksha Bandhan. ## The horror-comedy starring Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao completes 7 days at the box office with a net collection of around 275 crores after an estimated 19-20 crores, with a drop of around 25% on its first Wednesday (7th day). The hold becomes even more special knowing that the movie is coming after the heavily frontloaded holiday period of Independence Day and Raksha Bandhan.## The first Tuesday collection of Stree 2 takes its total to around 254 crores net in 6 days + previews. Mumbai, August 19 - The Indian Box Office delivered 350+ crores gross collection during the Independence Day weekend (August 15-18). Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao-fronted horror-comedy Stree 2 led the pack with a monstrous 230 crore gross, which is almost 2/3 of the total collection. ## Directed by Amar Kaushik, Stree 2 has had the second-biggest opening weekend of 2024 in India after Prabhas-fronted Kalki 2898 AD which grossed approximately 370 crores in its 4-day first weekend. While Kalki 2898 AD was a multilingual movie, Stree 2 was in just the Hindi language. ## Apart from Stree 2, the other movies failed to capitalise on the big opportunity during the long weekend. Chiyaan Vikram's Thangalaan was the second biggest domestic grosser with approximately 33.75 crores collection which is underwhelming. Aamir Khan In Talks To Headline Director Lokesh Kanagaraj's Next Film

Mumbai, August 18 - Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan is reportedly in talks to headline Tamil director Lokesh Kanagaraj's next film and it will be produced by Mythri Movie Makers.## According to Aakashavaani, the film in question is confirmed and the official announcement can be expected soon. It will be a Pan India movie and is expected to start rolling next year after the duo of Aamir and Lokesh complete their ongoing projects.## Aamir is the latest in the famous Khan trio to collaborate with a South Indian director. Earlier, Shah Rukh Khan teamed with director Atlee for the action thriller Jawan which was a monstrous box office blockbuster. Salman Khan is also shooting for director A.R. Murugadoss' action drama Sikandar which is scheduled to hit screens on Eid next year. ## Meanwhile, Aamir Khan is currently shooting for the comedy-drama Sitaare Zameen Par with director R.S. Prasanna. It is currently scheduled to be released on Christmas this year. While this Maddock Films' production venture is going bonkers, there is another potential blockbuster reportedly in the pipeline for the actress. ## According to the report by Times Now, Shraddha Kapoor is set to play the female lead role alongside Hrithik Roshan in the highly-anticipated superhero movie Krrish 4. It is reported that the actress has been in talks for a long time to come on board the film and things are finally falling into place.## Krrish 4 has been on hold for a long time but now it is expected to start rolling next year after Hrithik completes shooting for War 2. Hrithik Roshan To Feature In Alia Bhatt and Sharvari Wagh's 'Alpha': Report

Mumbai, August 18 - Yash Raj Films' Spy Universe is set to have its first female-led movie, titled Alpha, starring Alia Bhatt and Sharvari Wagh in the leading roles. The shoot of the movie has already commenced and it is being directed by The Railway Men fame Shiv Rawail. ## According to the report by Dainik Bhaskar, Hrithik Roshan's character of RAW agent Kabir will also be seen in Alpha and he will play the role of Alia Bhatt's mentor. Hrithik is also shooting for War 2, directed by Ayan Mukherji, with Jr. NTR and Kiara Advani in the leading roles. ## While War 2, which is also a part of YRF's Spy Universe, is scheduled to be released on August 14, 2025, it is not yet clear when will Alpha hit the big screen. War 2, however, is expected to be the next film in the Spy Universe as indicated in the post-credit scene of Tiger 3, released last year.## Meanwhile, the shoot of War 2 is reportedly delayed due to the on-set injury of Jr. NTR who is making his Bollywood debut with this biggie. The filming is now expected to resume in September in Italy where the team will shoot some song sequences. ## Jr. NTR, on the other hand, is gearing up for the release of long-awaited Devara: Part 1 which is slated to hit the big screens on September 27. Box Office: 'Stree 2' Scores An Excellent First Saturday (Early Estimates)

Mumbai, August 17 - Amid the struggle of other films, Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao's horror-comedy Stree 2 is turning out to be an unstoppable force at the box office, already one of the biggest grossers for the talent involved. ## After the sensational first 2 days, the Amar Kaushik's directorial blockbuster scored a huge first Saturday, crossing the 40 crores net mark for the second time in its short run so far. According to the early estimates, Stree 2 scored in the range of 43-45 crores net collection on its third day. ## The film's total collection after three days (including previews) is around 135 crores net, which already makes it the 3rd biggest Bollywood grosser of the year. Stree 2 is expected to breach the 50 crores net mark on Sunday and then follow it with a rocking collection on Monday which is the national holiday due to Raksha Bandhan. ## Considering the trend, Stree 2 is expected to score 215+ crores net over the 5-day opening weekend. Even after the holiday period, the movie will have no real threat for the next few weeks which should help to continue with a strong collection during the weekdays.## At this point, 400+ crores net lifetime collection looks well within reach but it will be interesting to see if it can go on to touch 500 crores net. ## Stay tuned...

Box Office: 'Stree 2' Tops 100 Crore Net Collection; Fastest Bollywood Movie of 2024 To Do So

Mumbai, August 17 - Maddock Films and Jio Studios' horror-comedy Stree 2 has topped the 100 crores net collection and become the fastest Bollywood movie of 2024 to achieve the feat, reaching the milestone in less than 3 days.## Starring Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao, the blockbuster sequel scored approximately 91.70 crores net in the first 2 days, including previews. On its third day (first Saturday), it scored an estimated 43+ crores net and with that, the movie has crossed the 100 crore mark, becoming the 4th Bollywood movie and 10th Indian movie of the year to do so.## Directed by Amar Kaushik, Stree 2 is the 7th film of Shraddha Kapoor and the second for Rajkummar Rao (after Stree) to top 100 crores net collection. For director Amar Kaushik, it is his 3rd 100 crores net scorer after Stree and Bala. Overall, Stree 2 is the 122nd movie in Hindi to score a box office century.## Stree 2 opened to a historic collection of over 60 crores net, including 8.50 crores net previews.
