Mumbai, July 18 - Director Nag Ashwin's dystopian future sci-fi epic Kalki 2898 AD has taken the box office by storm to become one of the biggest blockbusters. The movie starring Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, Kamal Haasan, and Disha Patani is nearing 1000 crores worldwide gross which will make it only the 7th Indian movie ever to do so. ## Recently, Prabhas thanked his fans for making Kalki 2898 AD a massive box office success and also expressed gratitude towards his co-stars in the movie. As the movie is still running well in theatres, legendary Amitabh Bachchan and Kamal Haasan have shared their joy at the film's success and expressed gratitude for being a part of it. ## "For Prabhas, this may be something of a routine because a lot of his films (Baahubali 2) cross this Rs 1000 crore figure, but for me, I am truly indebted and very grateful to have been made a part of this huge concept called Kalki. I have already seen the film four times... and each time, I have discovered something new, something that I may have missed when I saw it the first time", Amitabh Bachchan said. ## ## Kamal Haasan, meanwhile, has had a small role in Kalki 2898 AD as his full-fledged role will be featured in Kalki 2 as Supreme Yaskin, a totalitarian god-king ruling the post-apocalyptic world from the "Complex". The actor said that it was a moment to be celebrated as not many films of him have touched the milestone of 1000 crores at the box office.## The veteran actor also revealed that director Nag Ashwin went to Los Angeles to perfect the look of the Supreme Yaskin, which appears only for a few minutes in Kalki 2898 AD. Sivakarthikeyan's 'Amaran' Locks Release Date

Chennai, July 17 - Actor Sivakarthikeyan's much-awaited biographical war action film Amaran, based on the book series, India's Most Fearless by Shiv Aroor and Rahul Singh, has been confirmed to hit the big screens on October 31, 2024, in multiple Indian languages.## Directed by Rajkumar Periasamy, Amaran is the biopic of Major Mukund Varadarajan (played by Sivakarthikeyan), a commissioned officer in the Indian Army's Rajput Regiment. Mukund Varadarajan was posthumously awarded Ashoka Chakra for his actions during a counterterrorism operation.## The movie is produced by Kamal Haasan's Raaj Kamal Films International in association with Sony Pictures Films India, and it also stars Sai Pallavi as the female lead alongside Bhuvan Arora, and Rahul Bose, among others.## Amaran will be released on the occasion of the Diwali festival on October 31 and will clash with multiple other films in different languages. Mumbai, July 16 - In one of the biggest box office clashes of the year, Shraddha Kapoor's highly-anticipated horror-comedy Stree 2 to battle it out with Akshay Kumar's comedy-drama Khel Khel Mein and John Abraham's action drama Vedaa on August 15, Independence Day.## While a three-way clash is always a risky move, the makers of the respective films have already reportedly started blocking screens, confirming that they are in no mood to back out and let go of that lucrative date with a month to go for the release. ## According to the report by Pinkvilla, Stree 2 is running ahead to grab the maximum number of screens against Khel Khel Mein and Vedaa, due to being a highly anticipated movie and strong distribution team. Mumbai, July 16 - Producer Karan Johar's Dharma Productions has issued an official statement on the recent speculations about the remake rights of its action thriller Kill which is currently playing in theatres and doing decent business.## Directed by Nikhil Nagesh Bhat, Kill was announced to be remade in Hollywood by John Wick director Chad Stahelski even before the film's official release in India on July 5. There were rumours that just like the other recent Telugu movies, Kalki would also be streaming on digital platforms after 4 weeks which has been denied by the makers.## As per Telugu media reports, the sci-fi epic blockbuster will be made available on a digital platform only after 10 weeks of its theatrical release, as per the pre-agreement with the OTT platform which has bought the streaming rights. ## Kalki 2898 AD is a Pan India movie and performed well in every version at the domestic and worldwide box office so far. Box Office: 'Sarfira' and 'Indian 2' First Sunday Early Estimates

Mumbai, July 14 - Akshay Kumar's biographical drama Sarfira has a low first weekend at the domestic box office with a collection of around 12 crores net which is one of the lowest for the actor in many many years. ## Sarfira opened to poor numbers which proved to be fatal for the movie despite the good jump in the collection. On its first Sunday/third day, the movie scored an estimated 5-5.25 crores net, jumping around 20% from yesterday, for around 12 crores opening weekend. ## These are good collections for a non-star film but for someone like Akshay Kumar along with a top star cast, 12 crores weekend is disappointing. There is an appreciation for the movie but it hasn't been able to covert this into footfalls in large numbers. ## To have some sort of legs at the box office, Sarfira will have to beat the opening-day collection and try to come close to second-day figures of around 4 crores on its make-or-break first Monday. It, however, won't be easy due to competition and a proper working day. ## Kamal Haasan's Indian 2 (Hindi) remained in the similar range as yesterday as estimates suggest the first Sunday collection around 1.30 crores net for approximately 3.80 crores opening weekend in Hindi which is very poor. ## The movie witnessed a drop of around 15% in the collection for all languages on its third Sunday for an estimated 17.50+ crores gross (15+ crores net). All India opening weekend of Indian 2 is around 69+ crores gross (59 crores net) which is underwhelming as there were huge expectations from the film.
