Confirmed Match Card
We'll hear from "Jungle Boy" Jack Perry
In the aftermath of his surprising heel turn at the Forbidden Door event, the talented "Jungle Boy" Jack Perry is set to make an appearance on Dynamite, as confirmed by AEW. This Wednesday, fans can expect to hear from Perry himself as he addresses the recent events that have unfolded.
During his highly anticipated match at the pay-per-view against SANADA for the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship, Perry, unfortunately, fell short in his quest for the title. As Perry and his former tag team partner Hook made their way back up the ramp following the loss, an unexpected twist took place. Initially, Hook raised Perry's arm in a gesture of support, but to everyone's astonishment, Perry abruptly unleashed a devastating lariat, dropping Hook to the ground.
This shocking act marked Perry's transition to a heel persona, and now, with his upcoming appearance on Dynamite, he is poised to provide insights into his motivations and actions. Fans eagerly await Perry's words as they seek to unravel the mysteries behind his recent transformation and what it means for his future in AEW.
Jon Moxley vs. Tomohiro Ishii
Former AEW World Champion Jon Moxley is set to face off against Tomohiro Ishii on this week's episode of AEW Dynamite. This thrilling encounter serves as a sequel to their previous clash during the 2019 NJPW G1 tournament.
During Sunday's Forbidden Door event, the two wrestlers found themselves on opposing sides of a ten-man tag team match. Ishii, alongside the Young Bucks, Eddie Kingston, and Hangman Page, emerged victorious against Moxley, Claudio Castagnoli, Wheeler Yuta, Shota Umino, and Konosuke Takeshita.
Ishii secured the win by executing his devastating sheer drop brain buster on Wheeler Yuta. Although they have only faced each other once before in singles competition, with Moxley emerging as the victor in their previous encounter during the 2019 tournament, they have previously teamed up or faced off against each other in tag team matches on four separate occasions.
Now, the stage is set for an exhilarating showdown as Moxley and Ishii prepare to renew their rivalry in a highly anticipated rematch on Wednesday's AEW Dynamite. Wrestling fans eagerly await the clash between these two formidable competitors.
Tornado tag team match: Sting & Darby Allin vs. "The Painmaker" Chris Jericho & Sammy Guevara
Following his defeat at Forbidden Door, Chris Jericho exhibited clear dissatisfaction. During the post-show press conference, he abruptly interrupted Sting and Darby Allin and issued a direct challenge for a tornado tag team match. Notably, Jericho disclosed his intention to resurrect the "Painmaker" persona to counter Sting's presence. Sting and Darby swiftly embraced the challenge, eagerly accepting the proposed match, which is now scheduled to take place on Dynamite.
Jericho's discontentment was evident as he disrupted the proceedings to extend the invitation, demonstrating his determination to rebound from his previous loss. Sting and Darby Allin, recognizing the opportunity to test their mettle against the veteran wrestler, promptly agreed to the high-stakes encounter.
Owen Hart Foundation Women's Tournament first-round match: Britt Baker vs. Ruby Soho
Britt Baker is set to face off against Ruby Soho in the first round of this year's Women's Owen Hart Foundation Tournament. Their previous encounter took place in the final of the 2022 tournament, where Baker emerged victorious.
The winner of this compelling rematch will advance to the semifinals, where they will face off against Skye Blue. This subsequent showdown promises to be an intense and hard-fought battle as the victor strives to secure their spot in the tournament's final stages.
