Ajay Devgn's 'Raid 2' Officially Postponed; To Now Release Early 2025
Mumbai, August 7 - The sequel to Ajay Devgn-fronted crime thriller Raid has officially been postponed from November 15 of this year due to a tight release schedule. The movie is directed by Raj Kumar Gupta who confirmed the development.
Raid 2 was well on track until recently when Ajay Devgn-fronted highly-anticipated cop action drama Singham Again was pushed to Diwali 2024, two weeks before Raid 2's original release. It then became almost impossible to release two films of the actor with a tiny gap of just 2 weeks.
Director Rajkumar Gupta confirmed to Bollywood Hungama that the blockbuster will now be released early next year but the exact date is not yet revealed. The filmmaker said that producers will announce the official release date soon.
Raid 2 stars Ajay Devgn who reprises his role as an IRS officer, Amay Patnaik. In the first movie, Saurabh Shukla played the role of the antagonist but in the sequel, Riteish Deshmukh has replaced him to take on Ajay Devgn. Vaani Kapoor is playing the female lead alongside Gayathiri Iyer, and Rajat Kapoor among others.
In 2018, Ajay Devgn and Raj Kumar Gupta teamed up for the first time for Raid, which is based on the real-life income-tax raid conducted by the officers of the Income Tax Department on Sardar Inder Singh in the 1980s, which distinguished itself from others for being the longest raid in Indian history.
