Akshay Kumar's Hit 'Gabbar Is Back' Final Worldwide Box Office Collection
Mumbai, May 1 - The vigilante action drama Gabbar Is Back, directed by Krish Jagarlamudi, is considered one of the finest films of Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar. The movie, which has turned 9 years old today, deals with the corruption in the government and how corruption is a major challenge to the nation.
In the movie, after a vengeful college professor targets corruption in the government, he adopts the name "Gabbar" and becomes a hero to a weary public. The movie received critical acclaim and was a box-office success.
Gabbar Is Back was in the top 10 highest-grossing Bollywood films of 2015 at the worldwide box office with a gross collection of over 130 crores. In India, the movie minted 87.50 crores net (118+ crores gross) while the overseas collection of 17+ crores approx., for 135.50 crores worldwide cume.
The movie marked the Hindi film debut of director Krish and it was the official remake of A. R. Murugadoss's 2002 Tamil film Ramanaa. The title of the movie is named after the titular antagonist played by Amjad Khan from the 1975 film Sholay.
